Before Cristelle could say something, Linford suddenly snapped, “Lana! Can you stop asking things and shut up for a while?”
Lana was startled. Her eyes went red immediately. She looked like she was about to cry.
“Don’t cry. Lana, I’m sorry. He’s short-tempered. I hope he didn’t scare you.” Cristelle stuttered, feeling bad for the poor girl.
Lana didn’t say anything as she dropped her gaze, sniffing. Linford treated her this way because he had given all his patience to Cristelle Friesley.
“You’re so sweet, Cristelle,” Lana murmured as if she was hurt.
Linford rolled his eyes as he got out of the car, holding the door of Cristelle’s side open. He held her hand as she got out of the car.
Linford Bradley was always the center of attention. Women’s eyes followed him as they walked down the street. Cristelle felt so embarrassed as she tucked her chin.
Linford suggested taking a photo with her when they arrived at the landmark of the village. He took out his phone and asked Lana to take a photo of them.
Lana took a photo of them perfectly. Linford was quite happy with the result. It was his first time taking a photo with Cristelle. He set it as the wallpaper of his phone immediately.
Lana was so pissed off when she noticed that, but she knew she shouldn’t show it.
They decided to stop by a small cafe and buy some coffee.
The waitress left her number on the napkin. Linford frowned in disgust and threw the napkin away, thinking Cristelle didn’t notice that.
Cristelle was biting the straw of her coffee as they walked down the street, “You’re quite popular with women.”
“What?” Linford almost choked on his coffee.
“That phone number is written on the napkin. I saw it,” Cristelle shrugged.
Linford went quiet for a while before smirking, “You’re jealous?”
“Nope,” Cristelle appeared to be quite calm, “They were pretty much throwing themselves on you. It’s quite hard not to notice that.”
Linford smiled, shaking his head as he led her into a small store by the road.
The store sold all sorts of accessories and other small gizmos.
Linford picked a bracelet and put it around Cristelle’s slim wrist, “They were probably blind. Because if they could see your face, how come they just managed to muster the courage to talk to me?”
Cristelle blushed.
“Linford, Cristelle, are you guys done?” Lana came over with one paper bag in her arms, “Are we going back today?”
“Yeah,” Linford handed her a cup of coffee, “We’re going back in the evening. What did you buy?”
Lana seemed pretty smug, “You don’t know this? The bakery here is pretty famous. I brought these for the twins. They will love it.”
Cristelle smiled, “I heard about the bakery here as well. I’m sure the twins will like it.”
Lana took a deep sip from the cold coffee, “Let’s go back soon. It’s pretty hot out here. I don’t want the desserts to go bad.”
Linford nudged Cristelle, “Do you wanna go back now?”
Cristelle nodded, “Sounds cool. It’s getting late. Let’s go.”
So they went back to the hotel. Linford’s private jet had already been waiting. It was Friday today. Cody and Candace went back home quite early. Linford pushed open the door and saw Candace and Cody watching cartoons in the living room.
Candace ran over the moment she heard the noise. Linford picked his daughter. Cody was quite cold. He didn’t even say any words as he cast a look at Linford.
“Did you miss me?” Linford asked his little girl. Candace nodded eagerly, stretching out her arms toward Cristelle, demanding a hug.
Linford smiled, “Mommy’s pretty tired now. Let Dad hold you, okay?”
Candace pouted.
“Let me hold the girl. I’m not tired,” Lana followed Cristelle and Linford, entering the door.
She held her arms open at Candace, “Do you want me to hold you, Candace?”
Linford didn’t overthink, introducing their visitor, “This is Auntie Lana. Do you want her to hold you?”
Candace was so confused. Her mouth fell open. Before she could say anything, Lana suddenly snatched her away from Linford, “Geez! She’s so pretty. She’s your daughter indeed, Linford.”
Linford held Cristelle in and gave her a kiss, smiling.
Of course, his daughter was beautiful. Her Mom was beautiful as well, and Candace was Cristelle’s miniature.
Cristelle noticed how confused Candace looked. She went forward and stroked the girl’s hair, “Candace, be polite. Call her Auntie.”
Candace looked at Lana, clearing her throat, “Auntie.”
“It’s good to see you, sweetie. Look! I brought a lot of desserts for you and your brother. Your Mom said you guys like them very much.”
Candace looked a bit clueless, “Oh.”
“Could you put my sister down, Ma’am? She doesn’t enjoy being held by a stranger,” Cody jumped off the sofa.
His Mom and Dad probably couldn’t say this out of politeness. But he was different. He only cared about if his sister was comfortable or not.
Who was this woman?
Why was she giving off a strange vibe of annoyance? Cody might be young, but he usually had an intuition to tell people with ill intentions apart from normal ones.
That was why he didn’t like Clara or Tanya when he first met them.
“Oh my gosh. Is this Cody? Holy, you looked exactly like your dad when he was your age. You even have his temper,” Lana’s eyes lit up.
Cody frowned, “Yeah. I get that a lot. People around us had mentioned it. Can you put my sister down now?”
Lana stuck her tongue out, “But I still want to hug Candace for a while. She’s so cute.”
This is my sister, not plushy. You’re stupid. Cody’s fists balled up. The boy was using every fiber of his body to choke back his silent anger.
“Mom… Mom.” Candace pulled at her pigtails as she looked at Cristelle.
Cristelle got Candace’s meaning immediately. She went forward and gently took Candace away from Lana.
“You missed Mommy, right?”
Candace nodded heavily as she buried her head into Cristelle’s shoulder. Cody was right. She didn’t like being held by a stranger.
The way Candace acted was so cute.
Lana still wanted to touch her cheek a bit, but Candace dodged.
“Haha… So cute,” Lana laughed.
