But Linford still felt angry as he thought about Jasper Johnson. Enzo was trying to find the evidence of the assault on the island. Jasper would be caught sooner or later. He didn’t want Cristelle to go. That man would probably generate some nasty ideas again.
“Can I go with you?” Linford asked.
Cristelle turned him down gently, “It’s okay. I know what you’re worried about. I’m going there today to end the contract with him. You don’t need to worry about me.”
End the contract.
Linford knew he shouldn’t smile, but he just couldn’t help it, “Call me if you need my help.”
“Of course,” With that, Cristelle left the room.
Linford called Alfred immediately, “Go follow Cristelle’s schedule. She’s gonna end the contract with her studio today. If that idiot demands damages compensation, just transfer the money from my bank account to hers, remember.”
“Yes, sir,” Alfred said on the other side of the line.
Jasper was on the phone with a new client. He looked up as he heard the door of his office pushed open. A big smile appeared on his handsome face as he noticed it was Cristelle, “Cristelle, you’re finally here.”
Cristelle looked at the man before her. Jasper always carried himself as a perfect gentleman. She couldn’t even believe what he had done if it were not for the evidence.
She thought he would be friends for life.
“Jasper,” Cristelle cleared her throat, “I’m actually here to…”
Jasper cut her off, “Wait!”
He stood up from his chair and made Cristelle a cup of tea with lime and honey, “I remember this is your favorite. Why don’t you take a sip before talking? It’s pretty warm outside today. You must be thirsty driving all the way here.”
Cristelle didn’t want to be rude, so she took a sip from the cup. The cup of tea was too sweet. Jasper probably put in too much honey. Cristelle winced a bit.
“Why? You don’t like it?” Jasper asked. Cristelle put the cup of tea on the table gently, “No, I like it.”
“I’m glad you like it. How is Candace’s leg now? I bet Cody also came back safely. I heard you guys did a family performance two days ago, and it was a success. I’m glad for you.”
Cristelle looked at him as he talked about Candace and Cody. She wanted to ask this man if he had anything to do with the incidents that happened to her babies.
But the smile on his face was so gentle.
Cristelle couldn’t stop thinking about the old days. This man had been helping her when she was the most hopeless.
Cristelle lowered her head and took a long breath. And then, she grabbed the files from her purse, “Candace and Cody are too little. They need me. Taking care of them and working full-timely at the same time was impossible. I thought about this at home, Jasper. The studio is probably a bad idea. I feel extremely sorry, but I still hope we can end the contract.”
End the contract?
Jasper’s brow raised. He almost lost it, but he still managed to control himself in the end, “Cristelle, the studio runs just fine without you in the office. I know you have babies to worry about, so I won’t give you too much work to do. Our cooperation can continue. Besides, do you remember our new client from Europe? We’ve got everything settled. We can’t lose you at this point.”
“I’ve made a couple of drafts for our new client. I only need one week at most. I will bring the samples to you when I’m done. The contract shouldn’t be continued anymore, Jasper. I don’t want to bring more trouble to you. I won’t take any salary, and I will compensate you for your loss. But, again, I’m so sorry,” Cristelle was pretty tough.
Jasper clenched his teeth secretly.
It was all because of those little shits! When could they disappear so Cristelle would focus on him?
Jasper’s face fell, “So, you’re gonna terminate the contract today no matter what.”
Cristelle was pretty determined, “Yes. I hope you can understand.”
I’ve always been too tolerant of you. And I’ve had enough. Jasper clenched his teeth, “The compensation for breaking the contract is pretty costly. Where are you gonna get the money?”
He stared at Cristelle sharply. That kind of look had never shown up on Jasper’s face before. It was quite scary, but Cristelle didn’t flinch, “You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll find a way to get the money.”
“Is Linford Bradley gonna pay for this? Did you make up with him?” The smile on Jasper’s face was sarcastic.
“I’m planning to borrow some money from the bank. If it’s necessary, I’ll also accept his help. He’s my babies’ dad. I’m quitting the job to take care of the babies. It’s reasonable if he wants to help,” Cristelle said flatly.
She didn’t see the necessity to waste her time with Jasper anymore.
“Just think about it. I gotta go,” Cristelle grabbed her purse. She didn’t want to waste her time with this man anymore.
Now that he had dropped his disguise.
Cristelle weirdly felt much at ease when she faced him.
The door was closed behind Cristelle, and Jasper threw the cup of tea on the ground. His assistant ran out in panic as he heard the clash, “What’s wrong, sir? I thought Cristelle was here.”
“She came to terminate the contract,” Jasper’s eyes were as cold as stone.
“What?” Dean took a step forward, “Why did she suddenly decide to cancel the contract? Did she know anything?”
“Probably,” Jasper pulled open the curtains, coldly watching as Cristelle walked away on the pavement. “She’s pretty tough this time.”
“What are we gonna do?” Dean looked a bit pale.
Jasper smiled sarcastically. “What are you so afraid of? Those stupid asses don’t have any evidence. Besides, I don’t own this studio. Even if she wants to terminate the contract with me, she can’t. I’ll stall it as much as time I can.”
Dean opened his mouth, but no words came out. If what Jasper did was exposed, Cristelle would probably hate his guts. What would Jasper do if that happened?
“Okay then, I’m going back to work now, Boss,” Dean decided that it was probably none of his business.
After spending so many years with his boss, Dean came to realize that Jasper’s love for Cristelle was an obsession. He only wanted to own her, and it had become a sickness of this man.
The thinner the chance was to be with Cristelle, the stronger his urge was to make her his property. However, the feeling had changed long ago, and it was not love anymore.
