Diego didn’t even bother to spare her a look, his voice was cold and harsh, “You know nothing about business, Mother. I’m going back tomorrow.”
With that, he turned around and went back to his room.
Mrs. Barnett tried to follow. Sam snapped at her, “Stop.”
Mrs. Barnett could only sigh and sit on the couch, “It’s too dangerous letting Diego stay in this country alone. Maybe I should stay with him. You know… I need to take care of him.”
Sam cast her a cold glance, “You shouldn’t stay. He will get to know those things sooner or later. Those properties back in our hometown can’t be sold at a low price. It’s good that Diego decided to return and take care of them. Besides, the Lim family is there. If Diego really wants to investigate something he shouldn’t know, Noah will stop him timely. Alfred reported the news about the Barnett family to Linford.
“Diego went back to his hometown. Sam’s still planning to leave the country. It seems like the Father and the son are gonna separate.”
Linford was driving his babies and wife home after leaving the mall. After spending all day in the mall, Candace was tired, sleeping in Cristelle’s arms. Cody was sitting on the seat with his little arms folded, looking at Linford alertly.
Linford was wearing a Bluetooth earpiece as he answered the call, “Alright. Got it. Just stick to the plan. Call me if anything else happens.”
“Of course, Sir,” Alfred hung up the phone.
Cody didn’t say anything until they returned to the mansion, “When can we go back to our apartment?”
Cristelle also wanted to know. Staying in Linford’s place just felt weird.
Linford had both his hands on the steering wheel, “You wanna go back? You don’t wanna stay with Pop anymore? If you go back, you won’t be able to see Pop that often. It will make him sad.”
Cody seemed hesitant.
Cristelle also felt bad after hearing that.
If they left so abruptly, it would definitely make the old man sad.
“We can let Pop move there as well. I mean, your place is big enough.” Cody pouted.
Linford pulled over to the car and held the door open before carrying Candace in his arms, “I know the two apartments are just across the aisle. But it will still make Pop feel lonely if we’re not under the same roof.”
Cody fell under Linford’s tricks because he was too eager to go back, “We can break the wall and make the two apartments one.”
“That’s a wonderful idea!” Linford quickly agreed, smiling, “I’m sending Alfred to do it right now.”
As he called Alfred, Linford didn’t even give Cody much time to react.
When they came to the living room, Cody finally realized it was a trap, and Linford instantly sent a group of people to do the task.
Cody clenched his fist.
Before he could say something, Linford suddenly started to ruffle his hair, “You care about your Pop so much, Cody. You’re such a good kid.”
He hastily told the old man about the great news, leaving Cody no option but to swallow his annoyance.
Seeing Franco’s smiling face, Cody couldn’t take back his words anymore.

Diego went to Lim’s house in the middle of the night. After seeing Diego on the screen, Noah just told the guards to ignore him, letting him stand by the door overnight.
When the maid held the door open the next day, Diego was still sitting by the flower bed. He looked like a homeless man.
Noah and Maria wanted to hide it from Julia. However, Julia’s maid had mentioned it to her. After knowing that Diego was right outside the door, Julia ran downstairs immediately.
“Wait!” Noah snapped. Julia didn’t care as she kept running.
“If you don’t want to be my daughter anymore, then go ahead,” Noah was determined to throw Diego this time.
Julia stopped as she spun around to face her parents, crying, “Mom! Dad! I’m begging you. Please let me see him one last time.”
Maria was completely disgusted, “Don’t you remember how they treated you back then? We still have our pride even if you have none. Your dad and I were humiliated in their house, and now you still wanted to make up with him. Do you care about me and your father’s feelings at all? Are you really gonna throw everything away for that man? Will you be happy if we end up just like the Barnett House?” Maria started to cry as she continued.
She wished her daughter could at least have some pride.
Noah growled, “Guards! Lock her up. Don’t let her leave her room without my permission.”
“Yes, sir.”
Julia was struggling, “No! Please don’t!”
Maria looked away disappointedly, “You need to get a grip on yourself, Julia!”
The rise of the two families was not glorious. The Barnett House had fallen, yet they didn’t know their limits.
They were still trying to drag the Lim down with them. They’d tried their best to help the Barnett House so many times, but the Barnett family just didn’t seem to care.
“Mom! Dad! I’m pregnant! Please let me see him. Just this once. I promise that I won’t make up with him. I just want to see him.” Julia cried like a mad woman in front of everyone.
“What? Pregnant?” Maria spun around, “You… You’re really pregnant?”
Julia desperately nodded as tears streaked down her face. She went back to her room and took the report, showing the result to her parents, “I went to the hospital yesterday, and the doctor told me that I was one-month pregnant. You know, I have a condition. If I took an abortion, I would never be able to get pregnant again.”
Noah felt dizzy. He almost fell back.
How could Julia just calmly announce her pregnancy at a moment when that asshole arrived?
She was his only daughter.
And she now had his only grandchild in her belly.
