Clara was devastated and shivered.
Beth went to beg Pop instantly, kneeling before him, “Pop… Please. Clara would never do the things they accused her of. She’s always such a shy and reserved girl. How could she even murder anyone?”
Franco had never been so pissed off before until today, “Charles said he had evidence. There’s nothing I can do. Candace almost lost her leg! How would I listen to you? Stand up! It’s useless to beg for my help.”
Pop had made it clear to Beth that he would never interfere in this problem.
“You’re lying! You’re all lying!” Clara cried as she pointed her finger at Mrs. Wayne, “Don’t you know how you got that piece of land? You… and you! You bribed people!”
SLAP!
Beth slapped her daughter across her face, so she could finally shut up.
“Pop!” Beth cried, “Pop, Clara is just a spoiled girl. There must be some misunderstanding on this matter! She’s also from a Bradley family. Why would she ever harm her own niece? She loved her husband so much that she didn’t even leave the Bradley House and married another man after Clyde died. Please?! Please investigate a bit more before blaming everything on my poor daughter.” She cried before everyone’s eyes, losing her demure to save Clara.
The sharp slap across her face made Clara calm down a bit. She realized in horror that she had almost accused her father-in-law of bribery in front of everyone.
Was she out of her mind?
Cristelle knew Clara didn’t like her, but she didn’t expect Clara to really do something to harm her baby.
She tried to suppress her anger, silently listening to their drama. Then, after a few minutes, her voice rang, “Why did you do that to Candace, Clara? She’s just a little girl! How could you have a wicked heart to harm my daughter?”
Clara finally managed to calm down, but the sight of Cristelle made her go furious again. She stared at Cristelle as if she wanted to kill her, “It’s because of you! It’s all because of, bitch!”
SLAP!
Beth slapped her daughter again. Clara’s cheek went swollen instantly. “Mom!” She turned to look at Beth heatedly, a hand covering her cheek. She could feel the sharp pain while anger rose inside her heart. She was definitely humiliated right now!
Beth looked like she wished she could sew her daughter’s big mouth up. It would only get more complicated if Clara kept retaliating and spouting nonsense.
Cristelle noticed Clara sneaked Linford a glance at this moment. That hurtful and pleading glance instantly explained everything. She realized that this woman loved Linford!
Cristelle almost threw up.
So, that was why Clara had treated her as an enemy.
How could she hold such disgusting thoughts against her brother-in-law? What would her husband think if he was still alive? Clyde and Linford were twins, yet this woman perceived a lustful thought toward the other one!
Tanya couldn’t even breathe at this point. She seemed suffocated upon hearing the unfolded truth. She had received bribery from Mrs. Wayne before. The Bradley family would definitely find out if they decided to investigate the whole thing.
Darwin clenched his hands, and anger filled his heart. He didn’t expect Clara to act like that. The way she condemned the Bradley House just proved that she would destroy the Bradley family’s reputation as long as she could keep herself safe.
She needed to be kicked out of the family. Darwin screamed inside his head.
“Pop… Please… Could you investigate the whole thing for my Mom’s sake? I believe Clara’s a good girl. She was just being silly, sometimes.”
Beth pleaded. She knew Franco would probably consider not kicking Clara out. She thus mentioned Mrs. White, hoping it would change Franco’s mind.
Mrs. Wayne didn’t want Pop to get soft for that snake, so she hurried to say, “Pop! Could you please help us? We should never buy that land, but we’ve never killed or harmed anyone. Please be impartial as you always are and save us for our family’s friendship’s sake. We still care about the old memories our family shared over the years. ”
Before Pop could say anything, a servant suddenly came upstairs and proclaimed Mrs. White’s arrival.
Clara cried the minute she saw her grandma, “Nanny!”
“Shut up! Clara!” The old lady hissed.
Clara flinched as she heard her grandma’s anger.
Mrs. White had heard the whole thing on her way here. She’d never expected Clara to do things as stupid as this. She thought the girl was at least smarter than her Mom.
Mrs. White’s sharp eyes skimmed across the room and fell on Cristelle’s face. She sniffed, “So, this show is put up especially for Cristelle, then? You guys are treating her like a precious gem because you think she suffered?”
That was not the right thing to say, making Mrs. White sound resentful and petty. But Mrs. White was incapable of thinking rationally at this point.
Franco’s tone was also quite rigid, “The whole thing is more about Candace and the poor girl who got killed because of your good granddaughter. I bet you’ve heard everything on your way here. Since you’ve already arrived, you can be a spectator to see if the result is fair. Let the law decide!”
“How are you gonna handle this, Franco? Are you really sending Clara to jail?” Mrs. White’s tone was full of contempt.
“I don’t see any reason to let her go,” Linford laughed coldly, “She will at least stay 20 years in jail. If you can find a better lawyer, 15 years probably would be the light penalty.”
He was really sending her to jail for that woman! The way Linford said those things broke Clara’s heart.
Clara sobbed, “Linford, are you really gonna….”
Linford shot her a repulsed look as if she was something coming out of a gutter. Cutting Clara’s words. She hastily shut up.
Cristelle was so disgusted while looking at Mrs. White.
“Pop… Please, listen to us and forgive Clara.” Beth was crying again, “You know Clara will never have any baby as Clyde had passed away. She was probably mad at the fact that she would be a withered woman, and maybe that was why she decided to hurt other people’s children. I’ll find her a therapist to tackle those mental issues sooner. Please, she doesn’t deserve to be sent to jail. She loves your grandson so much!”
