Darwin went pale instantly, casting a suspicious look at Linford.
Linford, however, kept a straight face as if he didn’t notice the look his father was giving him right now, picking the fish bone out for Candace.
“Tell them to wait for me in the study room,” Darwin put down his fork as he stood up, “Excuse me, folks. I have to go. I need to deal with some business now.”
Pop sensed something was happening right now. He cast a look at Linford, but his grandson acted as if nothing was happening.
The old man could only sigh, shaking his head. He knew that Linfordnt was so stubborn and rebellious.
Tanya stood up, “Honey… This is still your birthday. Can’t you leave it until tomorrow?”
Darwin marched out of the hall, “It’s quite urgent. You guys enjoy the food. Don’t mind me.”
Tanya could only sit down, casting a worried look at Darwin’s fading back. The dinner didn’t last long after Darwin left.
Anna tried to comfort her daughter, “Don’t worry. Darwin will be fine. It must be something from work. Why are you pulling a face, sweetie?”
Tanya shook her head, lowering her voice, “I wouldn’t be scared if it was usual. But Cristelle just came tonight, and something just happened to him. I’m just a bit worried, Mom.”
Anna smiled coldly, “Cristelle Friesley? I actually wanted to warn you about that woman. If she got in this door one day and became Linford’s legal wife, I assure you that your position in this house would fall miserably.”
Tanya’s breath hitched as she heard what her mother said, “You also noticed that, Mom? You also can tell how much Pop likes her, right?”
Anna shook her head, “She gave the Bradley House two beautiful babies, after all. So, we can’t blame Franco for giving special affection to Cristelle.”
Tanya clenched her teeth, “Could you stop mentioning those babies, Mom?”
Her Mom knew she couldn’t bear to hear that!
Anna tried to comfort her daughter, “Alright… I won’t mention it again. You’re not lucky enough to have any baby for Darwin. Just try to take care of Darwin’s grandchildren, I guess. You must please them if necessary.”
What Anna was trying to say was that Tanya should try to be friends with Cristelle, sucking on her if it was necessary.
Tanya also knew it was probably the best plan she’d left. But she didn’t feel comfortable pretending that she adored Cristelle. Linford didn’t even bother to spare her a look after she married Darwin.
Worse is, how could she even approach Candace and Cody since their father hated her so much?
Anna only whispered, “Be patient, honey. Think of the best way to win their trust!”
Tanya let out a long breath and nodded.
At this moment, however, Darwin’s voice suddenly boomed behind the closed door of the study room, “GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY PLACE!”
Candace was startled and buried her head in her Mom’s chest as she heard the loud voice of her grandpa.
What happened to Grandpa? Candace thought in silence.
Franco frowned as he turned to Linford, “What happened to your dad?”
Linford was busy taking care of his wife and daughter. He didn’t even bother to look up, “How would I know? I didn’t even talk to him.”
Franco knew the reason must have something to do with Linford. But he didn’t have any evidence at all. Besides, his stubborn grandson doesn’t seem to care about his father’s outburst.
The scream on the second floor was getting louder. And then, the clashing of porcelain followed.
Cristelle covered her ears. Linford pulled her into his arms and left a kiss on her hair, “It’s okay. Don’t be scared.”
Cristelle nodded, frowning. What was happening to Darwin?
Clara was so jealous as she saw Linford’s enthusiastic affection. She looked away instantly, or she probably wouldn’t be able to control herself anymore.
“Linford… Do you mind going upstairs and checking your father out? Today is his birthday. I don’t want him to have a heart attack.” Tanya asked timidly.
Linford just sat there, didn’t move nor glance at Tanya, “He’s a grown man. He can take care of it by himself. I don’t think I need to go upstairs to check on him.”
However, the butler suddenly showed up, “Young Master… Your father demands to see you.”
Linford slowly stood up now, leaving a kiss on top of Cristelle’s head, “I’ll be back soon.”
Cristelle nodded and pulled Candace into her arms.
People felt much more relaxed as Linford went upstairs. Cristelle tried to play little games to help Candace calm down, pretending she didn’t notice that everyone’s attention was on her.
After Linford went upstairs, however, the sound only got louder. And then, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne got into the house, looking scared.
Their eyes widened the moment they saw Clara.
Clara didn’t know what she did had been exposed, giving the old couple a challenging smile.
Mrs. Wayne was so pissed off when she saw Clara’s smile. She swore that she would expose this witch tonight no matter what!
And then, they were both invited to the study room.
“Why… Why are they here?” Tanya suddenly had a bad premonition as she saw the old couple.
Clara shrugged, not seeming to care, “Who knows? The Wayne probably did something stupid again.”
Cristelle pretended she didn’t hear anything, ignoring Clara’s gaze.
Clara’s mind was flaming with deep hatred. She couldn’t even hold in her jealousy toward Cristelle anymore, sniffing coldly.
Pop noticed the weirdness in Clara’s tone. He pulled a face. What happened to Clara recently? She was becoming more aggressive and impolite.
The shouting and arguing upstairs didn’t stop at Mr. and Mrs. Wayne’s arrival. Linford noticed Darwin was still gonna hide those things from everyone, so he sent someone to invite his grandfather and other people from the dining hall. Jack was left to take care of Candace. Cristelle followed Pop upstairs, entering the exquisite study room.
When Franco saw Charles, he became less angry instantly. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne were shivering in the corner. The floor was covered by shattered porcelain. Pop stumped his cane against the floor, “What the heck is this, Darwin? Why couldn’t you just calm down and talk like a normal person?”
“What are you guys doing here?” Darwin didn’t want the family’s dirty secret to be revealed, “Get out!”
