“And you’re gonna protect a woman like that?” Darwin sounded like he was having fun shitting on Linford’s choice of women.
Linford smiled, “Of course, I won’t protect her. I just kept her in my house. She will never be able to get out or have any visitors without my permission.”
“Are you out of your mind?” Darwin went mad, “She almost got Candace killed. Are you gonna let her take care of the babies again? I’m telling you, a woman like that is not capable of taking care of the babies. If she really cared, why would Candace lose the ability to speak at all? We need to take the babies away from her only because of that.”
Linford snapped, “The babies won’t go to your place, Dad. And I will take care of them. You really don’t need to worry about them too much. Pop also got hurt. He’s resting in his ward right now. Why don’t you go and pay him a visit as well?”
Darwin was so pissed off by the way his son responded to his words.
Other people might see Linford locking up Cristelle as a punishment. But it was actually a different means of protection!
“What did that woman do to you? You’re losing your mind, Linford Bradley! You’ve never been so tolerant to anyone in your life!” Darwin shouted, “That woman will make you suffer more!”
Linford didn’t even bother to listen to what he said. He marched forward without looking back.
When they arrived at Franco’s ward, the old man had just woken up. But he was still quite pale, “I’m okay. How is Candace?”
Linford took a seat beside his bed, “Candace’s okay now. Lily is taking care of her right now.”
Darwin also got in at the moment, noticing the old man was on a drip, “Dad… Dad…are you okay?”
Franco nodded, “I feel better now.”
Darwin’s eyes fell on Mr. Weston, “Mr. Weston, they said you saved Dad when he was about to fall over. Thank you so much!”
Mr. Weston smiled, “Don’t mention it. It’s no big deal.”
“Has everyone known this?” Pop asked. Or his son wouldn’t have come so soon.
Darwin nodded, “Yeah. It’s a mess out there. I bet people would come here one by one to visit.”
Their real purpose was not to visit Franco. They only wanted to suck upon the Bradley House.
Pop shook his head, “Just tell them to go back if they come to visit. I’m not in the mood to talk to anyone.”
Linford raised his hand and patted his grandpa’s shoulder, “Don’t worry Pop. I know what to do.”
Darwin wanted to disagree, but the old had made his point extremely clearly. He knew he should probably shut up about it. So he changed the topic, “My poor granddaughter. She must have suffered so much with a mother like that. I heard when that happened, Cristelle wasn’t even with her. They said she had a date with another man. How could she be so neglecting? And those rumors… How will the babies view her when they grow up and get to know about those things?”
Pop only knew Cristelle had been away when the attack happened. He had no idea that Cristelle had been with another man.
So he turned to Linford, asking, “Is that true?”
Pop sighed disappointedly.
Linford responded, “I’ve sent her to my house. No one can get in to visit her without my permission, and she can’t get out as well.”
Pop’s eyebrows frowned. He didn’t like the idea, but he didn’t say anything.
Darwin shook his head, “Dad, I’m not trying to judge. But what she did is just so stupid. Candace would have been killed if you didn’t make it there at the very moment.”
It broke Pop’s heart to think about the possibility, “I know, but Candace’s fine, right? It’s just Cristelle…”
“I won’t let it pass so easily. I will make sure she learned her lesson,” Linford cut in before Darwin could stir up the anger of his grandpa.
Darwin went furious, “Did you hear that, Dad? He kept that woman in his house to protect her. He thought if he locked her up, we would never be able to touch her. He’s not punishing that woman at all! He’s protecting her!”
Linford didn’t even bother to look at his father, “Dad, if you pay more attention, you will know that, unlike you, I always keep my promise. Why are you so eager to humiliate her before grandpa? Are you really trying to take the babies away from her? Are you even aware of how much the girl needs her Mom? Not to mention Cody, that boy is extremely stubborn. Are you really expecting him to treat you like his grandfather after you force his Mom out of their lives?”
Darwin went red, going a bit weak, “Shut up, Linford! My grandchildren love me! You’re the only piece of shit in this family!”
“That’s enough! Two of you!” Pop snapped, “Darwin, you also shut up! Linford is right. The babies are too small to live without their Mom. Stop picking faults with Cristelle. Go, find out who sent that man to kill Candace if you have so much energy! And both of you, get out of my room right now. I still want to live longer.”
Linford stood up from his chair, “Of course, Pop. I’m getting things down soon.”
Darwin was so pissed off that his chest heaved from the anger, “Dad? Did you see that attitude? Did I say those things for myself? I said those things because I worried about him.”
Pop closed his eyes, not wanting to hear anything from his son.
Mr. Weston smiled, “Darwin, you have to trust your son. He’s a grown man now. I’m sure he can handle his own business.”
Everyone was in Linford’s favor!
Darwin still wanted to change his father’s mind, but the old man just didn’t seem to be listening anymore. He left the ward defeatedly.
In fact, Franco was pretty pissed off with how neglecting Cristelle was this time. But Linford was determined to protect her. None of them could even touch her anymore.
Mr. Weston shook his head, “To be honest, I’ve never seen Linford being so concerned toward anyone before. I mean, indeed, he’s playing tricks with you this time. But caring about someone is still a good thing, isn’t it?”
Franco nodded with a faint smile on his lips, “I agree. My youngest grandson has changed.”
