Clara’s face fell, “If you’re so noble and innocent, why are you still so clingy to Linford?”
Cristelle didn’t want to say anything to this woman anymore, standing up from her chair, “Believe it or not, I’ve never used the babies as an excuse. Whatever he did, it was his choice. I’ve never asked him to be responsible for the babies or for me. I know what you’re trying to do. You want me to disappear and leave the babies to your family, don’t you? I’m sorry that I’ll make you disappointed because I’ll never leave my babies behind.”
Clara shot up from her seat as well, “If you can’t leave your babies, can you at least leave Linford?”
Cristelle was utterly speechless, “I believe you’re his sister-in-law, right? Why do you care about his marriage so much?”
Clara looked away nervously, but she soon regained her composure, “I’m just asking.”
Cristelle cast her a weird look and left.
Clara clenched her teeth as she watched Cristelle leave. She swore to herself that she would make this whore fall. She would make her fall harder than she ever did.

When Cristelle walked down the corridor, Linford happened to slam the door of the guest room and walk out. They both stopped awkwardly.
“Why are you here?” Linford asked, frowning.
Cristelle told him the truth, “I just went to talk to Clara.”
Linford looked disgusted, “Why do you have to talk with her? What did she say to you?”
“Nothing,” Cristelle shrugged, “She just seemed to care about our marriage a lot.”
Linford faltered, “She’s my brother’s wife. Don’t get it wrong.”
“…I know,” Cristelle gave him a weird look. She didn’t misunderstand him. Why did he feel it was necessary to explain anything?
When they both went back to Candace’s ward, their daughter was still eating desserts.
“Come on, sweetie. Stop eating. You’ve eaten enough,” Linford took away the box. Candace nodded, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.
Tanya didn’t seem happy. She brought the desserts because she loved her granddaughter. But Linford acted like she put poison in the desserts.
“You guys finished talking? Where’s your Dad?” Tanya asked.
“Outside,” Linford said coldly.
And then, Darwin and Clara both walked in.
“I think you guys have stayed long enough. Candace needs to take some rest,” Linford said, not even bothering to be polite anymore.
Darwin shouted, “What kind of attitude is that? I’m your dad! Do you even remember that? Aren’t you afraid your son will also treat you like this one day?! You will get your karma!”
Linford smiled coldly, “Why would karma get me? I’m not the one who sacrificed my children’s lives to get a promotion.”
Sacrificed his children’s lives to get a promotion?
The room fell silent instantly. Cristelle looked away immediately, pretending that she didn’t hear anything.
Darwin was so pissed off, hands shaking, “What did you just say? You bastard! What did you just say?!”
Linford didn’t even flinch, “You know exactly what I said and meant, father.”
“You! From now on… You…”
“Darwin! Stop! Let’s just go back home now. Candace’s still watching. Don’t talk about things like that in front of the baby.” Tanya stopped Darwin timely before turning to Linford, “Your dad just cared about Candace too much. Please don’t be mad at him, Linford. We’re going back right now. We’ll come to visit Candace the other day.”
Clara smiled at Candace, “Candace, we’re leaving. See you next time.”
Candace nodded and waved her hands sweetly.
Cristelle let out a breath she’d been holding. She could tell that Linford must be mad at his family for some reason, but he had never mentioned the reason before. She wasn’t sure if it was appropriate for her to ask.
“Just try to ignore all of them when they come to visit again, okay?” Linford ordered.
Cristelle nodded obediently.
“By the way, don’t log in to your social media recently. Those accounts are making things up, and they don’t deserve your attention. Just take care of Candace, and I’ll take care of the rest, okay?” Linford asked again.
Cristelle nodded, “Don’t worry. I won’t leave Candace.”
“Good,” Linford seemed more relaxed, “I’ve called Enzo. He will be back in two weeks.”
Cristelle smiled as she heard Cody was gonna be back. Candace was also thrilled to know that.

After Linford left, Fritzi came to visit.
“You must have seen those things on the internet, haven’t you?” Fritzi asked worriedly as she took her seat on the couch.
Cristelle nodded. She didn’t see anything because she basically quit the internet lately. But she could guess what those people had said.
“Those journalists are crazy. They are waiting for you out of the hospital. This is not the point. Mr. Bradley actually asked me to block the news. He said we can’t leak anything to the media about what happened.”
Cristelle’s heart skipped a beat, “He asked you to do that?”
“Of course, Mr. Bradley cares about your feelings so much. He didn’t want those journalists to write nonsense about you.” Fritzi said. Deep down, she knew Mr. Bradley just didn’t want to see Cristelle’s and Jasper’s names appear on the same page.
“I just didn’t expect the news would be all out the next day. I remember the internet was uneventful on the first day.” Fritzi sounded so worried, “I wonder if Mr. Bradley would blame me for failing my job.”
Cristelle tried to comfort her, “He won’t blame you. This is not your fault. Locking down news is not easy. Everyone has his free will.”
“I’m just curious how the news leaked. I mean… there are not even so many people who know about Candace’s injury.” Fritzi’s hands fisted up, “I’ll find out who leaked the news purposely and give that rat to Mr. Bradley!”
With that, she left the ward.
Cristelle shook her head, not having a clue as well.
Fritzi was right. There were not so many people who knew about Candace’s accident. The range could be narrowed down to a couple of persons. But all these people didn’t seem to be bad people. Franco and Mr. Weston didn’t have any reason to do that.
Who would it be?
Cristelle was having a headache as she thought about the whole thing over and over.
