Can I still dance in the future? Candace’s eyes widened as she motioned her hand.
Cristelle faltered and looked up at Linford. Linford held his daughter’s little hand gently, “Of course, you can still dance, sweetie. You can dance after you recover.”
Candace let out a breath. She felt lucky. If she could still dance, she would try her best to recover.
The door was pushed open the next second. Drew, Franco, and Mr. Weston all walked in.
“Here are your flowers, princess,” Drew put a bouquet on the nightstand next to Candace’s bed. Candace loved it.
Franco brought a cake for Candace. Candace clapped her hands as she saw it. Drew cut the cake into small pieces, “You can’t eat too many sweets yet, Candace. Only one piece today, okay?”
“Did you find out who sent that Giselle here to bully my great-granddaughter?” Franco asked Linford coolly.
Linford’s face darkened, “I’m still trying to figure it out.”
“You must catch the person behind Giselle. And let him pay,” Franco said coldly. How dare those people harm his great-granddaughter under his nose? He must let them pay.
“Luckily, Peter was there. Or I couldn’t even imagine what would have happened to Candace” Mr. Weston sighed.
Candace was enjoying her cake, not knowing what kind of danger she had just gone through.
Franco nodded, “Peter is a great kid.”
Linford frowned a bit. He didn’t think so.
“They do care about Candace, huh? They would even come here this late.” Drew exclaimed after the two old gentlemen finally left, “But if I had a daughter and she was as cute as Candace, I would also spoil her so much.”
Linford shook his head, “Stop talking about things like that. Could you investigate that Peter for me?”
Drew folded his arms before his chest, “That guy saved your daughter. If it were not for him, the girl would have been killed.”
Cristelle’s heart lodged in her throat as she heard what Drew just said. She grabbed some pills from her purse and swallowed them down.
“I know… But things were too coincidental. I just don’t trust those people. Would you PLEASE do that for me?” Linford softly requested.
Drew nodded, “Fine… I’ll figure that out as soon as possible.”
Linford nodded and left the room. Drew didn’t follow up.
In the ward, Cristelle was watching cartoons with her daughter. Candace had had too much sleep. Now, she didn’t seem tired at all, wide eyes fixing on the screen.
Linford entered the room again, sitting next to the bed.
At this moment, Cristelle’s phone suddenly started to ring. It was a call from Jasper. She only remembered at this moment that she hadn’t switched on her phone the whole time. Jasper had been left in the hospital alone. He must be so worried.
Cristelle cast a look at Linford.
Linford didn’t even bother to raise his face, “Just pick it up. I don’t want you to miss the call. What if he dies if you miss that?” His tone was sarcastic.
Cristelle cast a look at her daughter. The girl was focusing on her cartoons, not noticing anything different.
She hung up the phone before telling her daughter gently, “Honey, Mommy needs to pick up a phone outside. I’ll be back soon.”
Candace nodded.

The phone was buzzing like crazy when Cristelle went downstairs. Cristelle went to Jasper’s ward and saw him calling her phone again and again, looking extremely pissed off.
“Jasper, that’s enough,” Cristelle walked in.
Jasper instantly looked at her directly, “Cristelle! You’re finally back. I’m so worried. Where have you been? Why didn’t you pick up the phone?”
Jasper had actually already known that Candace was sent to the hospital. He had known when Candace was still having her operation. He hadn’t told Cristelle because he wanted them to have a fight. The more severe the fight was, the happier he was. And he would also have a bigger chance of getting Cristelle in the end.
Cristelle explained tiredly, “Candace had an accident. She just had surgery yesterday, and she can’t move around for the next couple of weeks. I probably can’t go to work for a while. But I’ll still handle that if there’s any emergency. I’m so sorry, Jasper. You know my babies are my everything. I just can’t leave them there alone.”
Jasper shook his head, “Cristelle, is this the first day you know me? How could I ever ask you to go to work and leave Candace behind? Is Candace’s condition serious? Can I go take a look at her?”
“No… You really don’t have to,” Cristelle stopped him instantly, “Actually, she just fell asleep.”
If Jasper showed up right now, Linford would be so pissed off.
“Oh… Then you should probably go back to take care of her. You don’t need to stay here anymore. I’m fine. It’s just some scrapes, and I was just pretty scared. I’m discharging very soon. I’ll inform you if there’s an emergency. Just go take care of the girl, Cristelle,” Jasper acted like such a sweet and considerate friend.
But once Cristelle stepped out of the ward, his face changed immediately, calling his assistant, “Expose what happened in the riding course yesterday to the media. I need them to make it to the front page. Also, expose what happened to Linford’s daughter as well. Don’t leave any trace behind.”
After arranging that, Jasper left the hospital that night, knowing he needed to work very hard for the studio so Cristelle would finally trust him.

“Honey, it’s 9 pm. You should probably go to sleep now. You can’t watch cartoons that late.” Cristelle put the iPad away.
Candace’s leg was still hurting like hell, and she was a bit tired as well. She rubbed her eyes and gestured at Cristelle, asking when Cody would come back.
She missed him.
Cristelle also started to miss Cody when Candace mentioned him. So she asked Linford, “When will Enzo come back?”
Linford held Candace’s hand, “I’ll talk to Enzo so he will come back with Cody soon.”
Candace nodded heavily and lay back. Soon, she closed her eyes and drifted into a sound sleep.
