Chapter 161: It’s Getting Late

Cristelle knew the doctors forbade Jasper to use his phone after waking up. She didn’t have any suspicions, “Don’t worry about that. They can say whatever they want. We can’t control that. The most important thing is that we both know we’ve never done that. You need to get better soon and stop worrying about such things.”
Jasper felt warm as he let out a smile. That loving and caring Cristelle he knew had come back again.
“Of course, I’ll get better soon. I promise.”
Cristelle smiled faintly, but she was still so scared. She was worried that Linford would suddenly show up and take her away.

The heat of the news hadn’t even gone down in the evening. Cristelle had been worried the whole day. But Linford didn’t show up.
Cristelle was somehow getting even more worried.
Jasper could tell what she was thinking, but he didn’t want to point it out. So he tried to mention other things to distract her, “Cristelle, about the studio. I’ve made the draft of our contract. Do you want to take a look?”
Cristelle also wanted to distract herself. So she took the draft and started to read it. After finishing reading that, she shook her head and let out a smile, “This contract is so unfair.”
Jasper leaned against the wall, “Why? You don’t like it?”
“These terms are too good for me. But they’re unfair to you, Jasper. I want fair cooperation. I don’t want our cooperation to be so unfair.” Cristelle was pretty serious as she talked about that.
Jasper smiled, “But we are friends. I don’t care about things like that.”
“But I care,” Cristelle put the draft on the desk, “Just make a new one. I’ll consider it when we go back.”
“Okay then. I’ll rewrite some of those terms if you don’t like them,” Jasper was quite happy. Making Cristelle leave Linford’s company was just his first step.
Cristelle cast a look at her watch, “It’s getting late. I need to go.”
“Sure. Take a good rest when you get back,” Jasper knew it was necessary for him to act clingy right now. Cristelle wouldn’t leave him behind anyway.
Cristelle went back to the hotel and took a shower. When she came back, she received a FaceTime call from Candace. Candace’s chubby face appeared on the screen, kissing the camera repeatedly.
Cristelle chuckled, “I know, I know, honey. I miss you, too. Have you been good today?”
Candace nodded, gesturing and asking about Jasper.
“Jasper’s getting better. You don’t need to worry,” Cristelle explained, smiling. Candace was in her new pajamas, and she looked happy.
“Why are you all alone? Where’s Daddy?” Cristelle asked randomly.
Linford appeared on the screen as well. He wrapped a white towel around the lower half of his body. His abs and chest showed. He was clearly just coming out of the shower.
“What are you doing, sweetie?” Linford asked Candace as he rubbed his damp hair with a towel. Candace pointed at the screen, telling him that she was Facetiming Mommy.
Linford cast a look at the iPad casually. He didn’t even bother to get close to the camera and say hi, “Go to bed after it’s done. It’s pretty late now.”
Candace nodded. Cristelle was utterly shocked by his indifference. But she soon told Candace to sleep early as well.
Candace pouted, but she still hung up the call in the end.

Cristelle stayed up late and thought about Linford’s attitude. She didn’t fall asleep until dawn. She thus looked quite tired when she went to visit Jasper the next day in the hospital.
“Cristelle, I’ve got the contract fixed. Why don’t you take a look?” Jasper smiled at her when she walked into his ward.
Cristelle took the contract and examined the terms carefully, “That’s more like it. But… You’re still being way too generous.”
“I opened this studio, especially for you. You’ll be the core of our team. You deserve these benefits,” Jasper pulled out a pen, “Let’s sign this if you don’t have any problems anymore.”
Cristelle shook her head, “I’m still an employee of the Daicom Corporation. I don’t think I can sign this contract now.”
Jasper understood that, but he appeared to be a bit awkward, “Of course… Of course… I almost forgot this. You’re a contracted designer of the Daicom Corporation. We can sign this after you quit the old job.”
“Of course,” Cristelle nodded, “You don’t need to worry about this for now. Your priority is to recover. Just take some rest, okay? I need to accept a phone call outside.”
Jasper wanted her to leave Bradley’s company so desperately, but he also knew he couldn’t push it right now. He didn’t want to expose his true intention too early.
An unexpected visitor came into his ward when he was still pondering his plan.
“Diego Barnett? Why are you here?” Jasper’s face fell as he saw Diego.
Diego sat on the couch with a cold smile on his face, “We’ve been friends for at least a decade. I’m just worried about you after hearing about the accident.”
“I’m not an idiot, Diego,” Jasper frowned slightly, “Just tell me why you are here today. I don’t have time for any drama.”
“You’re gonna open a studio with Cristelle? Do you even know anything about her contract with Bradley’s company? She needs to pay 10 million if she breaks their contract. Can you even afford that?”
10 million?
Jasper could have thrown the money on Diego’s face if it were before. But now he had completely cut off from his family.
“What do you want?” Jasper clenched the contract in his hand.
Diego smiled, “I will pay them 10 million as long as you will make me a shareholder of your studio.”
“It won’t happen,” Jasper snapped.
“Then, I’ll just tell every truth about you to Cristelle. I bet she won’t even want to open that studio with you after that.”
“Wait!” Before Diego could walk out of the ward, Jasper suddenly stopped him, “Fine! You can be a shareholder.”
Diego looked over his shoulder and let out a sarcastic smile, “The contract will be sent here soon. Cristelle doesn’t need to know about our agreement.”
