Chapter 147: Can You Come Over Here?

Mr. Weston was the quietest one among the four heads. He seldom left his house. Linford didn’t even see him that much.
Franco tried to suppress his sadness. His eyes fell on Mrs. White, “Who was the one with him before he passed away?”
Mrs. White looked down, “It’s me. He couldn’t even spit out a word when I arrived. But I still got his will. From now on, my house won’t interfere with his house’s business again. You guys should also stay away. This is his wish. Just let his family be.”
Linford frowned slightly. It seemed like Mr. Wayne was determined to wipe his family name off the list of the wealthiest families in the city. He had given up all the money and fame.
Mr. Weston sighed, “I would do the same thing for my house. Well… Since he has gone to a better place, we shouldn’t take this empty room for too long. I think his family members still want to see him.”
Mrs. White raised from her chair, “I agree. Let’s leave.”
Franco and Mr. Weston followed.
Linford cast one last look at the old man’s body and also followed up.
Mrs. Wayne was shaking as she saw them, “Mr. Bradley, Mr. Weston, Mrs. White… My husband has left, but my granddaughter is still in jail… Please… Please get her out. She’s just a young girl. She can’t spend the rest of her life in jail.”
Saying that, she fell to the floor, crying like a mad woman. All the guests invited were shocked by their words.
They didn’t expect Mrs. Wayne to act like this after Mr. Wayne passed away. This was inappropriate, and she was asking the three heads to break the laws publicly.
No wonder this generation of the Wayne house was filled with idiots. What could Mr. Wayne have done after marrying such a stupid wife?
Mr. Weston sighed and walked directly out of the mansion.
Mrs. White’s voice was cold, “Your husband has made his decision about Zoe. Are you trying to overthrow his will and his act of defending the reputation of his family name? Your husband called me here today to make it clear that his offspring doesn’t need any help from the other three families anymore. The White house shall follow Mr. Wayne’s last wish.”
With that, she left the house without looking back.
“Mrs. White! Mrs. White! Our houses have been friends for generations! You can’t leave us to die!”
Franco and Linford also left. Franco sighed to other family members of the Wayne house, “Your grandpa’s still lying in that coffin, cold and alone. Go spend some hours with him.”
“Pop… You can’t abandon us. Our houses are…”
Franco raised a hand and stopped Tim from saying more, “Mrs. White has made it very clear. It’s your grandpa’s will. Just go and take a look at him.”
With that, he left the house with Linford.

Linford and Franco both didn’t talk much in the car. Franco only spoke when they finally arrived at his place, “Linford, you also have a family now. You need to change for your family.”
“Of course, Pop,” Linford answered coldly.
He knew Pop was only worried. But he wouldn’t stop investigating the whole thing. He must figure the truth out.
Franco got out of the car with Linford’s help, “Mr. Wayne used to be jealous of me. But now… I’m just jealous of him.”
Having stupid sons and grandsons was not necessarily a bad thing. At least their stupidity would save them from thinking too much and leading them into danger.
He wished Linford was less smart. So he wouldn’t get himself involved.
Linford pretended he didn’t hear anything, “Enzo and Cody just left today. You don’t need to summon Enzo here for Mr. Wayne’s funeral.”
Franco stopped, “Why did you give Cody to Enzo? You know he tends to do sky-diving and trekking up mountains. Are you trying to get the boy killed?”
“I know what he tends to do,” Linford kept a straight face, “That’s exactly why I sent Cody to him. You also agree Cody would grow into a great soldier. He will thank me after the vacation.”
Franco frowned, “But he’s still so little.”
“I also got trained when I was his age. He will be fine, Pop. I really need to go back. Candace’s still waiting.”
Franco didn’t keep Linford because he was in a hurry to call Enzo. So he wouldn’t be too harsh to the boy.
When Linford went back to the apartment, it was almost 1 am. He thought for a minute and still decided to push the door open. This room in his apartment had never been opened to anyone. Linford sat on a chair and grabbed a taser. He took off his shirt, revealing his toned body. Taking a deep breath, he pressed the taser on his forearm. He trembled violently and groaned in pain. Streams of electricity sizzled through his muscles. His whole body was covered in a cold sweat. But his head was still fogged as if all those memories were sealed in a jar.
No matter how hard he tried. He just couldn’t open it.
Linford pressed the taser against his skin again. This time, he used the strongest shock. It could kill him if he isn’t careful. When the shock came again, a slim figure suddenly showed up in his head. Cristelle was smiling at him in the distance. And then, it was Cody and Candace’s smiling faces.
Linford threw the taser away frustratingly. He still hadn’t recovered from the shock. His whole body was twitching.
Slumping on the chair, Linford let out a ragged breath.
Franco was probably right.
He had a family now. He needed to stop reckless behaviors like this. If he died from this, no one would take care of his family.
It took Linford a while to finally stand up from the chair and go to the bathroom.
After taking a long shower, he dialed Drew’s number.
“The heck, Linford? Are you still human? Do you know how late it is?”
Linford yawned, “Are you free now? Can you come over here?”
****
It only took Drew ten minutes to come.
“What the…” Drew went furious as he noticed those wounds on Linford’s arm, “Are you out of your fucking mind?! You have babies now. You can’t do this to yourself again! Are you trying to get Cristelle to marry another man?!”
