What the heck was the boy talking about? Cristelle started to sweat.
Linford, at this time, had returned and was clearly amused by what he heard from his son’s mouth. It suddenly melted his anger.
“Cody, this is the last time I’m telling you. Jasper and I are only friends. It’s not like what you think about us.” Cristelle seriously explained her relationship to Jasper.
Cody nodded like a little man, “Really? That’s good to hear.”
He was still so tiny. Why did he always worry about her marriage so much? She thought in silence.
Cody shook his head, “There are so many men in this world, but there’s only one who deserves to be my Mom’s husband.”
Linford didn’t come closer to them, but he was listening closely.
Yanni smiled, “Really? Who is this man? He must be extremely good to be considered as a suitable husband for your Mom, according to you.”
Cody sighed, shrugging his shoulders, “It’s Enzo Bradley. But sadly, he’s my uncle. Or I would have persuaded him to woo my Mom.”
Linford took huge steps toward his son and covered the boy’s mouth, his face darkening, “So, you still know that he’s your uncle, huh?”
Cody pulled away his hand, “You’re only being jealous, Linford Bradley.”
Candace giggled as she was obviously amused by the little fight between her father and brother.
Yanni burst into laughter after hearing Cody’s smart answer.
Linford looked murderously at him, “You still want to breathe, don’t you?”
Yanni’s laughter died down immediately, mentioning his lips into zip while struggling to choke back his laughter.

They arrived at their building soon. Linford got off the car first and lifted Cristelle up in his arms again.
“I can walk!” Cristelle protested.
“It’s cold to stand on the ground barefoot,” Linford frowned and carried her into the elevator. Cody and Candace followed.
The boy looked slightly pissed off, but he knew he was too little to carry their Mom, so he chose to shut his mouth.
He wished he could grow taller soon.
Linford carried Cristelle into the living room, asking Cody to bring the medical kit here.
Cody could only do as he said.
Cristelle refused, “It’s okay. I only need to take a shower, and everything will be alright.”
Linford cast her a glance and placed her feet on his lap, “Do you want to make the bathroom a murder scene?”
Cristelle only lowered her gaze, realizing the fact that Linford mentioned. There were multiple scratches on her feet, blood gushing out of her wounded feet, and staining the hemline of her white dress.
She didn’t expect it to be so serious.
Cody brought the kit, and Linford started to clean the wounds for her. Then, Linford asked Cody to take a bath with his sister and go to sleep.
But the boy seemed reluctant, “Candace knows how to take a bath herself.”
But Candace suddenly held her brother’s hand, dragging him toward the bathroom.
“I thought you knew how to take a bath. Why are you taking me with you?” Cody seemed surprised.
Candace cast a look at her parents, insisting on having her brother’s company.
Cody sighed and obediently followed his sister.
Linford and Cristelle were left alone in the living room. Cristelle was a bit embarrassed. She could feel the coldness of his fingers as he held one of her ankles. She squirmed a bit on the couch.
“I…I can do it myself,” Cristelle cleared her throat.
“I don’t think so, Cristelle. Just keep still,” Linford didn’t even lift his eyes as he cleaned those scratches on her shin. The way he dropped his gaze was sexy. His lashes cast shadows under his eyes. Cristelle somehow blushed a bit.
“Where did you learn these things?” She finally asked him to break the tension between them.
“I learned it when I was still in the army,” Linford said randomly.
“You were in the army?” Cristelle’s mouth fell open. She’d never expected to hear that. She only knew Linford was good at handling guns. She thought it was the basic skills of men in the Bradley House. She didn’t know he used to be a soldier.
“Why are you a CEO now?” Cristelle was curious, looking at his handsome face.
Linford put her foot down and raised his face, “The company belonged to Mom’s dad. She was the only daughter he had. So when Grandpa passed away, he gave that company to me.”
Cristelle was shocked after hearing the truth; all she thought was that Old Bradley, Linford’s grandfather, founded Daicom Corporation. But, of course, it never crossed her mind that the company was founded by Linford’s grandfather, who was the father of his Mom.
“Is this why you left the army? For business?” Cristelle inquired again.
“No,” Linford frowned a bit.
Cristelle knew she should probably stop asking. This topic was pretty private. She wanted to change a topic, but the way Linford looked at her right now was a bit weird. Cristelle followed his gaze and realized he was staring at her chest. The dress was a bit revealing. In this position, her cleavage was right in front of Linford’s nose.
“Pervert!” Cristelle screamed and kicked him.
“Ouch…” The look on Linford’s face was a bit ambiguous.
Cristelle could feel her foot land on something hard and warm. She screamed as she saw his erection, making a tent on his crotch.
“Cristelle, you said I’m a pervert?” Linford’s voice was a bit breathy as he struggled to stand up.
“Get… Out…. Of… My…Place!” Cristelle threw a pillow at him.

Meanwhile, in the Bradley house, Darwin had just returned from the military base and saw countless news about that woman. He knew how protective Linford was of her. But she was publicly flirting with another man. This would make Linford look so stupid.
“There were so many people out there. I wonder what went wrong with that, Cristelle. She just ran out of the ball barefoot. God knows what would’ve happened if Linford didn’t make it on time. I’ve talked to those journalists, though. They probably won’t write anything stupid, for now.” Tanya sounded quite concerned. But she was expecting Cristelle to get herself in trouble.
