Darwin sighed, “I’m just saying the fact, Father. No one dares to point his finger at Bradley’s children. But their behaviors show their judgment. Candace’s just a little girl. She won’t be able to stay unaffected. Maybe that psychologist is our last hope. Maybe she could start to talk after a few sessions.”
Tanya also cut in, “Dad, my cousin has been quite professional since he graduated from medical school. You can even search for him on the internet if you don’t feel safe. Candace is also our grandchild. We’re doing everything to make sure of her well-being. I wonder when Candace can start talking if you just let Cristelle do whatever she wants.”
The living room fell silent.
Franco finally took a long breath, “You guys make sense. I asked the Watson house the other day to see if they got any familiar psychologists. I thought they would be able to find the right one for Candace.”
Tanya hurriedly interrupted, “Peter’s teacher is also a Watson.”
Franco looked surprised, “Really? Then he must be an amazing doctor. Bring your cousin here tomorrow so I can talk to him.”
Tanya smiled, “Of course. We will only make the decision if you see it’s suitable, Father. But… there’s one thing I don’t know if I should tell you.”
Franco cast her a stern glance, “Just say it. You can say whatever you want.”
Tanya looked worried, “Father, you know Darwin, and I mean no harm to the babies, but there’ll definitely be misunderstandings when Linford knows about this.”
Darwin frowned, “What misunderstanding? We’re doing this for Candace’s good.”
Franco shook his head, “Tanya’s right. I know Linford very well. He will never agree if I don’t talk to him. You guys bring that Peter here tomorrow. I’ll talk to Linford if I think Peter can do this job.”
Tanya had been fishing for this statement. She smiled, “Of course, Father. We both listen to you.”
Darwin and Tanya stayed at Franco’s place after the discussion. Candace and Cody went to sleep quite fast. Franco couldn’t fall asleep, thinking about the earlier discussion repeatedly.
Meanwhile, in Cristelle and Linford’s suite, Linford just hung up the phone. He walked into the living room. The door of Cristelle’s bedroom suddenly creaked. Cristelle sneaked out of the crack. It looked like she was going to the kitchen.
Linford narrowed his eyes. Candace was a little foodie. He thought he had finally figured out where she got it from.
Cristelle didn’t see him as she didn’t look up once. Linford could tell she was trying not to make any sound.
She hit a wall in the dark and whimpered. Linford stifled a laugh as he turned the light on.
Cristelle took a step back as she saw the man’s handsome face.
Linford just took a shower. The lower half of his body was only wrapped in a white towel. His chest and arms were muscular. Cristelle looked away rigidly.
Gosh! Couldn’t he hide it off for a while?
“Why-why are you here?” Cristelle swallowed, “And why didn’t you make any sound? It’s freaking scary, okay?”
Linford’s gaze was steady, “I’m hungry. So I’m gonna go to the kitchen to grab some food.”
“Oh,” Cristelle said flatly.
She went to the kitchen and searched the refrigerator. She could only find fruit and sandwiches. She didn’t want any.
So she turned to Linford again, “Do you want some pasta? I can cook.”
A faint smile appeared on Linford’s thin lips, “Sounds delicious.”
Cristelle frowned a little as she looked away.
Why did he have to be so attractive? It was annoying.
She made some pasta and served the plates soon.
Linford poured two glasses of orange juice.
They sat by the table face to face. Cristelle couldn’t look up as Linford was eating across the table. They seldom ate together. Whenever they had meals at home, Cody and Candace were always around. They would at least make some sound so the meals wouldn’t be so awkward.
Linford didn’t seem like he cared. He was his usual self, impassive and self-possessed.
The only difference was that he was half-naked.
Cristelle started to regret the decision to invite him for the late-night snack.
She thus picked up her speed, eating as fast as she could. So she could end the awkwardness as soon as possible.
She then suddenly bit her tongue.
Cristelle gasped as her fork fell, clacking onto the plate.
“What’s wrong?” Linford put down his fork as well, “Let me take a look.”
“N-no…” Cristelle sucked in a breath, “It’s okay.”
She finished the food on her plate as she held back her tears, running back into her room instantly.
Was he a pervert?
Couldn’t he at least put some clothes on?
Linford frowned as he stared at the closed door. He couldn’t understand why she suddenly ran away. Did he do something wrong?
Linford finished his pasta and washed the dishes.
They went on Linford’s jet early the next morning. Cristelle seemed worried, “I wonder if the babies rested well. Candace used to cry a lot if she couldn’t see me in the morning.” She sighed as she stared out of the window.
Linford also missed the babies, “Pop is taking care of them both. They should be fine.”
Cristelle nodded, deciding secretly that she would go pick up the babies as early as she could today and make them a big meal.
It only took less than an hour for them to arrive. Cristelle went directly to the company, carrying a bag. There was a piece of fabric in that bag. She needed to finish the design as soon as possible. They only got two weeks.
However, before she could enter the gate, an old lady suddenly popped out of nowhere. She grabbed Cristelle’s arm and started to cry, “Please. Please have mercy. The Wayne house has strived so hard for what it has today. If you don’t stop, you will kill us. Cristelle, I know how stupid Zoe was. Could you please forgive us? May God bless your soul.”
Before Cristelle could figure out what was happening, she had already heard the cameras’ shutters.
