Tanya was tempted by the idea. She had never had any children. Darwin even refused to touch her. If she could raise the babies, her position in this family would also be secured.
“But can we really do this? If we made any mistakes, then Linford must be…” Tanya was genuinely scared of her stepson.
“Darwin doesn’t like Cristelle anyway. What happened with the Wayne house can be used as a weapon. If we can take this chance, the babies will be yours,” Clara added, sounding assured. Tanya had already gotten so excited, her voice trembling, “I’m calling my cousin now. He will be back soon.”
“No hurries. We should go visit Grandpa first and make him tell Linford to stop. Keeping the Wayne house safe is the pressing issue,” Clara added, “If we can get this done, Darwin would be glad to give the babies to you.”
Clara got what she wanted without telling the truth about the issue.
Once the babies were in this mansion, Linford would come to visit them every day.
And he would naturally grow close to her.
This was also a part of Clara’s plan.
Tanya’s mind was filled with the babies.
She nodded instantly, “Sure. Let’s go there now.”
They left the mansion and got in their car, driving to Franco’s mansion instantly.
However, they didn’t get to see Franco.
Franco missed Candace and Cody too much. He went to Cristelle’s apartment without telling anyone.
Cristelle just served the meal. When Linford opened the door and saw his grandpa, he was a bit speechless.
“Cody, Candace, Pop’s here to see you!”
“I’m sorry for the abrupt visit, Sir. But your grandpa said he wanted to give you a surprise. He didn’t want me to call you beforehand,” Jack followed the old man and got into the house, holding all sorts of snacks and toys in his hands.
Linford smiled, “It’s okay. He just missed them.”
Cody and Candace were washing their hands. After hearing the sound, they dashed out of the bathroom.
“Pop! It’s good to see you!” Cody was excited to see his warrior great-granddad.
Franco gave his cane to Jack and held Candace in his arms first, “I miss you guys so much. You guys wouldn’t even visit me. So I came here by myself without telling you.”
The old man smelt like herbs. Candace liked it. She was just a bit worried. She was a bit heavier than Cody. Could Pop really carry her?
Her concern was unnecessary. The old man carried her and seated himself on the couch, smiling at the little girl, “Candace, is this a new dress? I bet you will look amazing if you dance with it.”
“Candace just danced for us a couple of minutes ago,” Cody smiled.
“Really?” Franco’s eyes lit up, “Would you dance for Pop, Candace?”
Candace smiled shyly.
Cristelle poured a cup of coffee for the old man, “Candace, honey, Mommy also wants to see you dancing again. It was beautiful.” She didn’t expect Franco to come and visit suddenly. She was still a bit in shock.
Candace cast Cody a glance.
Cody encouraged his sister instantly, “Candace, just dance for Pop. It will make him happy.”
Candace slowly walked toward the center of the living room now. Linford played a song for her. She was in her new pink dress, and her blonde hair had been pulled into a little bun. She looked like a little princess. Franco’s heart melted.
Franco stared at his great-grandchild, smiling with tears in his eyes. Then, he pulled out his phone, asking Linford how to record before holding it toward the dancing little girl.
This moment was lovely, and he just wanted to keep it forever.
Cristelle thought for a second and put those dishes back into the kitchen. She’d love to let them have some fun before the meal.
Candace was happy that everyone enjoyed her performance. Even her Pop liked it. Candace ran toward her brother and buried her face into his shoulder after the performance. She was getting shy and happy at the same time.
Candace could be quite clingy toward her brother sometimes.
Cody smiled and patted her hair, “Don’t be shy, Candace. You’re the best.”
Linford nodded, smiling at his son and daughter. He had found a dance teacher for Candace a while ago, but the teacher was still abroad. It would take her a while before coming back. By then, she would teach Candace how to dance by herself.
Candace pointed at the cake on the table. She wanted to try that cake. Franco was smiling. “Of course, sweetie.”
Cristelle grabbed a fork, “Let me get it for her.”
Jack was smiling, “The cake has too much sugar. Franco can’t eat it. Let me do it, Mrs. Bradley.”
Mrs. Bradley?
Cristelle went frozen. She turned to look at Franco subconsciously.
The smile in his eyes was warm. There was no judgment in those eyes. He just looked at her as if he was pleased to see her.
As if she was also a part of the family.
Cristelle dropped her gaze and swallowed her explanation back.
Cody noticed the air had changed. He wanted to say something, but Linford suddenly put a large hand on his head, “Pop brought you a gift. Go check out what it is.”
Cody was not happy being interrupted. But Franco was smiling at him, “Cody, come over here. See what I brought you.”
Jack opened an exquisite box. It looked old, like an antique. Franco took out an ancient-style handgun from it. The gun was exquisitely made.
“This is the gun I used when I was still in the army. Do you like it, boy?”
A big smile lit up the boy’s face as he saw the gun. He instantly forgot everything he was gonna do. He carefully took the gun in both hands as he looked up at his grandpa, “I love it! Thank you so much, Pop!” Saying that, he left a kiss on the old man’s cheek.
Cristelle took a look at the gun. That gun looked like it had significant meaning to Franco. Was he really gonna give it to Cody?
