Anyway, all of them thought Cristelle was a dangerous freeloader with a filthy mind. She got what she had today by sabotaging people.
“Hey, Grandma, watch out for what comes out of your mouth. Leave my Mom alone, or I won’t be this nice anymore,” Cody heard the noise and ran over. He couldn’t bear people bullying his Mom under his nose.
“Who are you calling a Grandma?” Zoe’s face was twisted in anger. Cody climbed into Cristelle’s arms, “You, of course. Grandma, you can’t just say nasty words against my Mom in front of everyone just because you can’t get that man yourself. Being jealous makes you look ugly. You’re accusing my Mom of being a gold digger, and that crisp word that slipped from your mouth isn’t true. Your mind is full of filthiness.”
Zoe had never expected the boy to be so articulate. Her whole body was shaking with rage, “Bullshit!”
“I’m not talking bullshit. You just envy my Mom. That man loves her. I guess that’s what ticked you off.” Cody shrugged. “To be honest, your ugly mind matches your personality, not to mention your tasteless clothes. You dress like a Grandma. No man will ever like you with that appearance. You’d better give up the idea and leave my Mom alone,”
Ugly mind? Tasteless clothes?
Zoe instantly exploded.
She shouted furiously, “You! You little bastard! How dare you say that to me?”
Compared with Cristelle, she did look mediocre. However, perceiving the painful truth and hearing that from a 5-year-old was just another hard blow to her ego.
“Do you even know how many men your Mom slept with to get where she is right now? Who the heck do you think you are to say that to me? Guards! Kick them out of this place!”
More than ten guards suddenly showed up, encircling Cristelle and Cody, Zoe’s dad happened to own this store.
Cristelle took her son in her arms, making sure the guards wouldn’t be able to get them, “My son is right. You’re just being jealous. How could you just do this to random people? By the way, you really should watch the things coming out of your mouth. My son and daughter have parents. They’re not bastards! I bet you don’t dare to say anything against my children before Linford Bradley, so you’re here to bully us. It’s disgusting!”
Zoe went furious, pointing at Cristelle in rage, “You! No wonder she hates you so much! You’re nothing but a slut!”
She had never been offended since she was born. No one had ever dared to offend her like this. She wanted to slap Cristelle across her face. But Cody reacted quite fast. He pushed Zoe away before she could do that, “You know you make yourself look ugly in front of everyone, and you want to hit us. You’re shameless!”
Being humiliated by a little boy was even more infuriating. Zoe clenched her teeth and stomped her feet, yelling at those guards, “Are you a bunch of dead people? Get them out of here! Now!”
This spot was getting crowded because of the drama. The guards were not idiots. They knew Cristelle was Mr. Bradley’s wife. They didn’t dare to overdo anything, but their boss’s daughter was basically getting out of her mind right now. They knew they couldn’t afford to refuse her anymore. So they went forth, surrounding Cristelle and Cody in between.
Suddenly Linford just showed up. “I’d like to see who dared to touch them!” He growled.
Linford stood near them with Candace in his arms. The crowd split in between, leaving him a path he could walk through. However, his presence made the surroundings oppressive. The low murmur in the place thus disappeared.
A cold sweat covered Zoe’s body as soon as she heard Linford’s voice.
“Why did you show up so late?” Cody complained to his father, frowning.
Linford walked to them, putting a big hand on the boy’s furry hair, “Sorry for being so late.”
Conversations erupted among the on-lookers again.
They couldn’t believe Linford would suddenly show up to save his son and wife.
Linford, Cristelle, and the babies instantly became the center of everyone’s attention. Zoe was constantly shivering. Her limbs became numb. Linford held his daughter and cast her a look. “You’re Wayne, right?”
He didn’t even know her name.
The Wayne house and the Bradley house had been quite close for a long time ago. Linford didn’t get into the family business often. He only had a vague impression of the girl standing before him.
Zoe took a step forward, “Mr… Mr. Bradley. It was just a mistake. I can explain everything.” She didn’t expect Linford to show up halfway.
Cody clenched his little fists, “You just said bad things to my Mom! You said she’s a social climber and a gold digger. You said she’s cunning and shrewd. You even said me and my sister are bastards. How can you suddenly forget those harsh words coming from your mouth, Grandma?”
Linford frowned deeply, his eyes as cold as stone. Zoe could feel his heavy gaze, and it seemed like thousands of sharp knives were piercing through her body. She couldn’t even breathe.
“Cristelle’s a member of my family. She doesn’t need to dig gold. My money is all hers. Is this how the Wayne house educates its younger generation? Have you no manners?” Linford looked obviously pissed off.
Cristelle cast him a confused glance. The way he uttered those words would make people think she was his wife.
They didn’t have anything to do with each other at all. She couldn’t understand why he said that in public.
All the on-lookers suddenly realized that Linford had been considering marrying this woman.
No wonder they came out for groceries together.
Zoe felt she brought shame to her family’s name, going furiously red. “I…I didn’t mean to… It’s not what I meant.”
Cody huffed, “So you’re taking back what you said? It’s not easy, Grandma. You can’t just randomly say bad things to people and walk away as if nothing happens. We all remember what you just said. You just act innocent to make people feel bad for you. It’s gross! You said my Mom slept around to get where she was right now. Did you forget that?”
Linford’s face fell, “She really said that?”
