Chapter 167
Lisa, who was fast asleep, heard a knock on her door. She jumped off the bed and checked the time. It was midnight. She wondered who it was that would be knocking on her at midnight.
She picked up her phone and went to the kitchen. She picked up a knife and then walked towards the door. She looked through the small hole in the door and found no one.
He opened the door with her left hand holding the knife with her right hand. Just as she opened the door she put the knife forward ready to stab whoever was knocking on her door at midnight.
To her surprise, she saw Alfred standing by the door.
“Alfred” Lisa called surprised to see Alfred. He looked a little bit drunk.
“Are you seriously holding a knife?” Alfred asked and laughed.
Lisa held his hands and pulled him inside the house then locked the door.
“Are you okay Alfred?” Lisa asked as she noticed Alfred looking weird.
“I’m not okay” Alfred yelled and Lisa moved close to him and tried covering his mouth.
“The kids are asleep, do you want to wake them up?” Lisa said as she dragged him to her room.
“What happened? Have you been drinking?” Lisa asked and Alfred pulled Lisa close to him. He pressed her body to her as Lisa felt a shiver run down her spine.
“Alfred” Lisa whisperer at once
“I told Daniel I found out he didn’t kill Rhoda,” Alfred said and hugged Lisa. Oh, Lisa muttered softly. He has spoken to Daniel that’s why he’s this way. Lisa sighed softly and pulled away from the hug.
He held Alfred’s hands and pushed him towards the bed. He helped him lay on the bed and was about to move away from him when Alfred held her and pulled her towards him making her fall on top of him.
“Alfred, what are you doing?” Lisa muttered as Alfred held her, making her lay on top of him.
“Shhhh don’t make a sound” Alfred said and Lisa sighed softly. She laid her head on his chest listening to his heartbeat as Alfred wrapped his hands on top of her waist.
She closed her eyes feeling so calm and quiet. Just then she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep. Alfred felt her nerves become calm as he felt Lisa’s breath on his chest. He closed his eyes and just then he drifted to sleep.

It was morning and another brand new day. Alfred had woken up so early. She helped Lisa lay on the bed beside him. He kissed her forehead and was about to stand up from the bed when he felt Lisa holding his hands.
“You are leaving?” Lisa asked in a sleeping tone with both eyes closed. Alfred smiled.
“No, I want to prepare breakfast and get the kids dressed for school, ” he said and Lisa hummed before letting him go. she was glad he was around and was gonna help her do all the chores in the house.
After Alfred had prepared breakfast, he woke the kids up to get dressed for school. They were so happy to see him and wouldn’t stop telling him about everything that happened in their school.
After he had helped them get dressed, he fed them and decided to drop them off at school alone. After then he came back home to check on Lisa and to his greatest surprise, she was still asleep.
He began to wonder if she wasn’t going to work today.
“Lisa” Alfred called as he walked inside the room and Lisa hummed, opening her bleary eyes.
“Are you alright?” Alfred asked as he noticed the look on her face. Lisa sighed softly as she stared at Alfred with a confused look on her face.
“What’s wrong Lisa?” Alfred asked worriedly as he lay beside her on the bed.
“I think I’m starting to see things. Maybe I’m going crazy. Please take me to the hospital” Lisa pouted and Alfred stared at her wondering what she was talking about.
“Why? What happened?” Alfred asked
“I went to a shopping mall yesterday and I saw a woman that looked so much like my Mom. I had wanted to go meet her but she was gone before I could and since I haven’t been able to get that image out of my head.
A part of me is telling me my mom is still alive but I just don’t want to believe it. It is impossible!! I watched my mom give her last breath that night. She cannot be alive, I’m going crazy Alfred. Please help me” Lisa said as tears gathered in her eyes. Alfred pulled her into a hug.
“Shhhh” he muttered as she patted her hair gently.
“You gonna be fine, alright?” Alfred said lots of thoughts going through his mind. He remembered the day he had asked his detective to search for Lisa’s mom’s body but he was told it was nowhere to be found. That it’s gotten missing. He tried finding her missing body but he couldn’t find anything, not even a trace of it.
What if Lisa wasn’t going crazy and whatever she saw was real? What if her mom is Alive? Alfred thought, asking no one in particular. Since she thinks she saw her mom, maybe he should start searching for her again with the help of Mr Luke. It would be easier, Alfred thought and just then Lisa heard her phone ring.
She pulled away from the hug and picked up her phone. She checked the caller’s ID and saw it was Dina.
“She is gonna ask me why I’m not in the office yet,” Lisa said as she answered the phone call by putting it on the loudspeaker.
“Lisa, switch on the Tv now!” Dina yelled, sounding so nervous.
“Why? What happened?” Lisa asked as she and Alfred stood up from the bed in a rush. They ran downstairs, to the sitting room.
Lisa picked up the remote and switched on the Tv and he saw the most shocking news ever.
“Popular CEO in Singapore, Daniel smith had gotten into a severe accident this morning as his car was hit by a truck on the highway”
Her phone fell from her hands and hit the ground. She felt numb at once, her legs became weak and just as she was about to fall to the ground Alfred held her.
“Daniel” he muttered and suddenly she lost consciousness.
