Chapter 166
Daniel is seen driving on the highway. Tears filled his eyes, making his eyes blur. He had waited this long for Alfred to find out he was innocent and now when it was already too late he had already found out the truth.
Daniel began to wonder who killed Rhoda but that was none of his business at this moment, he thought as more tears slipped down his cheeks.
Right now he needed a shoulder to cry on, he needed someone to hug him. He would have gone home but it was one of the worst options, his mom would keep asking what happened instead of consoling him.
He would have gone to Lisa but right now it wasn’t the best option as Alfred might have gone to her too. There was only one option he had.
Daisy’s house. He drove his car to Daisy’s house. His car screeched to a halt in front of the small compound. He alighted the car looking so weak, and drained.
He walked towards the small door and planted a soft knock on it. The door opened revealing Daisy’s mom.
“Daniel” she called, surprised to see him.
Daniel stared at her with tears in his eyes and the next thing Daisy’s mom pulled him into a warm hug. He felt his heart become calm as she hugged him.
She felt so warm and relaxed. “Mom, who’s there?” Freya’s voice echoed from behind and her mom pulled away and held Daniel’s hands pulling him inside the house.
“It’s Daniel,” Her mom said and Freya was a little bit shocked to see Daniel. Her mom was just talking about him for not quite long and he just showed up. Freya stared at him and saw tears in his eyes.
“Has he been crying?” She asked no one in particular as she watched her mom help him sit on the couch in the living room. She had wanted to ask what happened but she didn’t. She watched as her mom consoled him like a two-year-old child.
Freya sighed softly as she began to wonder why her mom liked Daniel so much.

Hours later
It was almost midnight and Daisy had arrived from work. She was surprised to see Daniel lying on their couch and he was in a deep sleep.
She thought she would never see him again. She began to wonder what he was doing at their house. Just then Daisy saw her mom walk out of the kitchen.
“Mom” Daisy called as she walked towards her mom and her mom dragged her inside the kitchen.
“Shhhh, don’t wake him up,” her mom said and Daisy rolled her eyes.
“What’s he doing here? What happened?” Daisy asked
“You should go to your room and rest Daisy. You’ve had a long day already. We will talk tomorrow ” her mom said and kissed her lightly on her cheeks before walking to the sitting room.
Daisy stood by the kitchen door as she watched her mom cover Daniel properly with the duvet. She kissed him on his forehead and patted his hair gently before walking inside her room.
Daisy sighed softly and walked inside her room. There she met Freya playing games on her phone.
“Hey, welcome sis” Freya said, her eyes fixed on her phone. Daisy stared at her and looked away. She sat on the bed dropping her bag beside her.
She removed her shoes and walked inside the bathroom. She took her bath and walked back inside her room and wore her nightdress. She brushed her hair and packed it in a ponytail.
She then walked out of her room to the kitchen to drink water since she was feeling tasty. After she had drank the water she walked out of the kitchen. She stood for some minutes staring at Daniel who was fast asleep.
She walked towards him staring at his handsome face. She bent down beside him and touched his very cold face. Memories of what they had together came running into her head like a flash.
She sighed softly as she traced her hands to his lips. She must confess, she missed him so much and was glad he came back. Just then Daniel opened his eyes and Daisy opened her mouth. in shock.
“Sorry, I was just…..” Daisy paused as Daniel smiled
“It’s fine,” he said and Daisy stood up.
“You should go back to sleep, sorry for waking you up,” Daisy said and was about to walk away but Daniel held her hands. A cold shiver ran down Daisy’s spine.
“How have you been? I’m sorry I haven’t been able to get to you since I left. I just have a lot going on in my life right now” Daniel said and Daisy stared at him. Surprised he had apologized. Maybe he isn’t like other men, Daisy thought and swallowed hard.
“It’s nothing. What are you doing here? I was surprised to see you” Daisy said
“Oh!! I just needed a place to lay low for tonight and your place was the only option. I hope you are not offended and I’m not making you feel uncomfortable in any way?” Daniel asked and Daisy smiled.
“No!! So far mom is happy that you are okay. You should go back to sleep. I’m going to bed now” Daisy said and with that, she walked away from Daniel.
She walked inside her room and lay flat on the bed beside Freya. “I saw you talking to him,” Freya said and Daisy rolled her eyes.
“I was just asking him what he was doing here,” Daisy said and Freya hummed. Daisy closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.
Just as Daisy left, Daniel picked up his phone and he saw several missed calls from his mom, Williams, and unknown numbers.
He switched off the phone and laid back on the couch. He wasn’t in the mood to answer any phone calls. He just wanted to be alone, a lot has been going on lately and he just needs space.
