Chapter 137
After Lisa had picked up the children from school, she went home as usual and did her normal routine. It was late before they had gotten home because it was raining.
She had to prepare dinner so she asked the kids to stay in the sitting room and do their assignments while she prepared dinner for them.
Lisa walked inside the kitchen and stared outside through the kitchen window. It was rainy and heavy out there followed by the sound of thunder. She locked the kitchen window and walked toward her fridge. She opened the fridge staring at it not knowing what to cook. She then decided to cook spaghetti, Bolognese.
She brought out some fresh carrots from her fridge and also brought some green pepper, cabbage, beef, onions, and garlic. She put them in the kitchen cabinet. She brought out two packs of spaghetti and a clean pot.
Just then she heard her children’s voices from the sitting room. She dropped the pack of spaghetti and the pot on the kitchen cabinet before walking out of the kitchen to the sitting room.
She then saw her kids staring outside the window. “What are you guys looking out there?” Lisa asked as she moved towards the window. Her kids made way for her and she stared out the window to her surprise, she saw Alfred standing in the rain outside her house.
The rain had soaked him that he was obviously shivering inside the rain and still wouldn’t leave the rain. She felt like leaving him inside the rain but then she stared at her kids who were staring at Alfred with pity in their eyes.
She walked toward the door and opened it.
She carried her umbrella and walked out of the house to meet Alfred who was standing in the rain.
“What are you doing here inside the rain?” Lisa asked, wondering how Alfred knew her house.
She looked towards her window and saw her kids staring at her. She put the umbrella above his head trying to cover him from the rain. Alfred was taller than her so she had to tiptoe to be able to cover him Properly, thereby making the both of them so close that they could nearly feel their breath on each other’s faces.
Lisa stared at him in his eyes. All she could see was regret and pain. “You should go home, you’re shivering,” Lisa said as she stared at Alfred.
“I won’t go anywhere till you forgive me, Lisa,” Alfred said and Lisa scoffed.
“Then you’re gonna rot in the rain,” Lisa said and was about to leave him but then turned to her kids who were still staring through the window. She didn’t want them to think their mommy is bad.
Lisa then turned to Alfred “I’m only doing this for the kids. Come inside” Lisa said as she held Alfred’s hands and helped him inside her house. She locked the door behind her and stood staring at Alfred whose clothes were soaked and was also shiverig.
“Mr. Alfred ” Isabella called out as they walked towards Alfred.
“Kids, go to your room. I’ll take care of him, I promise” Lisa said and they nodded before going to their room. Lisa helped Alfred upstairs to her room.
“I’ll prepare a hot bath for you,” Lisa said as she walked inside the bathroom and came out a minute later. She walked towards her wardrobe and brought out one of Daniel’s clothes he left in her house the day he spent the night. She gave them to Alfred and asked him to change into the clothes once he’s taken his bath.
“Thank you,” Alfred said but Lisa stood staring at him without saying a word. Lisa walked out of the room to the kitchen to finish the food she was about to cook.
Alfred walked inside the bathroom and the scent of vanilla shampoo filled his nose. He took his bath and changed into the clothes Lisa had given him. Immediately he wore the clothes that familiar scent filled his nose, he quickly shook off the thoughts. Maybe he’s the one overthinking things.
He stood in front of her mirror and he stared at his reflection. The clothes fitted him so much that he would think Lisa had actually bought the clothes for him but then on second thought, he wondered who owns the clothes and why would Lisa have male clothes in her wardrobe.
“Does she have a man she’s seeing?” He thought as he felt his heart twitch in jealousy. He just hope he was wrong. He sat on her bed still feeling a little bit cold but he wasn’t shivering that much.
Just then Lisa walked in holding a cup of hot tea in her hands and sitting on her bed. She swallowed hard as she stared at him. Daniel’s clothes looked so perfect on him. She quickly shook off the thought.
“You should drink this. It will help keep you warm. You can use the blanket on the bed to cover yourself. I’m preparing dinner, you’ll take drugs after dinner” Lisa said as she gave him the cup of tea. Just as Alfred was about to take the cup from her, their skin came in contact. The both of them felt a cold rush through their spine.
Lisa quickly removed her hands and turned to leave but then stopped when Alfred called her name.
“Lisa” Alfred called and she turned to him
“Thank you,” he said and Lisa stared at him without saying a word and walked away.
Alfred drank from the tea and carried the empty cup to the kitchen where she met Lisa cooking. He walked towards the sink and rinsed the cup.
“Is there anything you need my help with?” Alfred asked and Lisa hissed loudly.
“Stop acting nice Alfred, it doesn’t look good on you,” Lisa said without looking at him.
“Lisa please” Alfred begged and Lisa sighed softly then dropped and stopped cutting the carrot she was cutting.
She turned to Alfred and gave him the knife. “You can cook the food while I watch,” Lisa said angrily and Alfred took the knife from her. He wore the apron and started cutting the carrot.
When he was done cutting the carrot, he took the beef and diced it. He took the cabbage and washed it with salt before slicing it.
Lisa stood at the corner of the kitchen watching him with keen interest.
