Chapter 136
Alfred is a changed man. You should give him a second chance. Besides, every human deserves a second chance” Dina said and Lisa stared at her without saying a word. She wiped her tears and stood up from the chair.
“I’ll see how things are going outside,” Lisa said and walked out of Dina’s office. She walked out of the restaurant and stood in a corner watching people enter and leave the restaurant.
Just then she caught a glimpse of Mr. Luke, walking toward her.
“Lisa Cranston,” Mr. Luke smiled at Lisa who forced herself to smile in return.
“Hello sir” Lisa smiled back and Mr luke smiled. He stood beside her as he joined her in watching people walk in and out of the restaurant.
“You are a strong woman and I admire your bravery,” Mr. Luke said, breaking the silence between them.
“Sir” she turned to Mr trying to understand what he was saying.
“You are a survivor. After you had jumped off the bridge, everyone believed you were dead except for Alfred. He never gave up on you all these years. He believed you were still out there and that he was going to find you and luckily he did. Isn’t that destiny or fate or whatever you guys call it?” Mr. Luke said and Lisa stared at him without saying a word.
“I know Alfred hurt you a lot but he regrets everything he’s done. He’s made a mistake, give him the chance to right the mistake. Give him a second chance, Give him a chance to be a good person again.
Let him make up for those times. if not for any reason, for the sake of the quadruplets, please Lisa. Alfred is like a son to me and I hate to see him in pain, please forgive him” the old man begged and Lisa swallowed hard as she didn’t know what to say.
“I know you have a good heart Lisa and you’ll make the right decision, ” Mr. Luke said and smiled at her before walking away.
Lisa watched as Mr. Luke walked away and entered his car before zooming off.
“Oh Jesus!!” she muttered as she felt so tired and confused. She didn’t know what to do at that moment. She sighed softly and walked back inside the restaurant to her office. By the time she had gotten to her office, Alfred wasn’t there anymore. She was glad he left by himself.
She sighed softly and sat on the couch in her office. Just then she heard her phone ring. She checked the caller’s ID and saw it was Daniel. She answered the phone call and placed the phone in her ear.
“Hey, Lisa” She heard Daniel’s voice from the phone.
“Daniel, how are you?” Lisa asked tiredly
“I’m okay, just busy with work. How about you?” Daniel asked
“I’m fine,” Lisa said with a sigh
“I have been so busy with work that I barely have time to use my phone or even go to the internet. I’m sorry I haven’t called in days. How’s the restaurant going and How are the kids? I miss them, especially you” Daniel said, smiling to himself. Lisa could feel the happiness in Daniel’s voice that he could hear her voice.
“Everything is fine and the kids are fine. We all miss you too” Lisa said and Daniel chuckled happily.
“Are you alright Lisa? You sound tired and weak, have you been crying?” Daniel asked in the most caring tone ever.
“No, I haven’t been crying, I’m okay. I’m just stressed with work, I’ll be okay if I can get enough rest” Lisa said and Daniel hummed.
“You do not sound okay to me Lisa. You sound like something is bothering you” Daniel said knowing too well he was right.
Something was bothering Lisa. He had known Lisa for 7 years and studied her carefully, even from her voice he could tell if things were okay or not and from Lisa’s voice he could sense things weren’t okay.
“I’m okay Daniel. I’m fine” Lisa said and with that, she ended the call. She was already feeling too tired and stressed to argue with anyone.
She wouldn’t want any more headaches than the one she already had. A Lot has happened in just one day and she needed a break.
She sighed softly and just then her manager walked in holding some files in her hands. She wondered why she didn’t knock before entering, it was then she realized she hadn’t locked the door. She had almost forgotten.
“Maam, you need to sign these….”
“Drop them there, I’ll sign them later,” Lisa said tiredly
“Yes ma’am, ” the manager said and just as she was about to walk out Lisa asked her to lock the door behind her, which she did.
Lisa then lay tiredly on the couch and suddenly she drifted to sleep.

It was evening and Lisa had woken up feeling so tired. She picked up her phone and checked her time then noticed it was evening.
She needed to go pick up her kids from school. She carried her bag and her car key before walking out of her office and out of the restaurant to her car which was parked outside the restaurant.

Daniel is seen in the hotel room he lodged in. He sat on a chair staring at his laptop. He was trying so hard to work but he couldn’t focus.
He was worried about Lisa. He knew she wasn’t alright. He could feel it. Just then his PA, Williams walked in.
“Sir, you sent it to me,” Williams said and Daniel nodded.
“Book my flight, I leave for Singapore tonight,” Daniel said
“Sir??” Williams muttered
“You heard me right? I’m going back to Singapore. I just have this feeling something is wrong ” Daniel said
“But sir we haven’t finished what we came here for,” Williams said
“We can put it on hold for now. I need to get back to Singapore tonight” Daniel said and Williams nodded in response. He stared at Daniel for some seconds before walking away. He just has a bad feeling about his boss going back to Singapore.
He just hopes his feelings and guts are wrong, he thought.
