Lisa, I thought you and Daniel were a couple?” Dina asked and Lisa swallowed hard. She couldn’t hide the truth anymore, one way or the other Dina was going to find out so she thinks it was better she tell her the truth now.
After Lisa had told Dina the whole story. She was so shocked and felt so much pity for Lisa. The girl has been through a lot at such a young age but goodness who would have thought Daniel wasn’t the father of the baby?
“You’re the only one that knows apart from Daniel,” Lisa said
“Your secret is safe with me” Dina smiled
“The truth is gonna come out one day anyways. It cannot be hidden for long. One way or the other people will find out about it” Lisa said and sighed softly
“You’re a strong woman Lisa, I admire you a lot,” Dina tells Lisa who said nothing but only smiled at her.
Just then she heard her phone vibrate. It was a text message from a Chinese restaurant. She’s been accepted and is told to resume work tomorrow.
“What’s that?” Dina asked as she noticed the smile on Lisa’s face as she read the text message.
“I’m to resume tomorrow, ” Lisa said happily and Dina smiled.
“I’m happy for you. You’re gonna tell Daniel about it tonight right?” Dina asked
“Yeah,” Lisa said
“What if he doesn’t agree? Nigga cares for you. He cares for you a lot and wouldn’t want anything to stress you” Dina said and Lisa hummed.
“He wouldn’t have any choice but to agree,” Lisa tells her and drops her phone beside her.
“I’m so hungry Dina. You should prepare something, Clara would be back from school soon” Lisa said
“I can’t walk properly with my legs. It hurts, I can’t stand for long. I’m waiting for her nanny to come to cook dinner for her or she can eat the goodies Williams bought for her” Dina said and Lisa scoffed.
“I’m hungry, I can’t wait for the nanny. I’ll prepare something myself ” Lisa said and stood up from the couch she was sitting on.
“Says someone who doesn’t know how to cook” Dina teased
“Oh come on. I know how to cook, been learning from the maid and ma’am Lois lately” Lisa said and Dina chuckled
“How about ma’am Lois?” She asked as Lisa walked inside the kitchen.
“She’s better now,” Lisa yelled from the kitchen.
“The new maid, how’s she doing? ” Dina asked
“Not bad. She’s very nice and friendly. I like her” Lisa yelled again from the kitchen.

It was evening, almost night, Lisa had just gotten home from Dina’s house. She had met Daniel in the sitting room watching Tv. She was kind of surprised to see him at home this early.
“Hey, welcome home,” Daniel said immediately after he saw Lisa.
“Yeah, thanks. You came back so early today” Lisa said as she sat beside him dropping her bag and phone on the table in front of them.
“Yeah, I decided to come home early and spend time with you and the babies. By the way, about the babies, how are they?” Daniel smiled and Lisa chuckled.
“They are okay,” Lisa said with a shrug and Daniel laughed as he turned back to the tv. It was then Lisa realized he was watching the news. She has always hated watching the news on tv but her father loved it. What’s up with CEOs and news, She wondered as she stared at Daniel.
“Is there anything you want to tell me?” Daniel asked, his eyes still on the Tv. But then he dropped the remote and turned to Lisa.
“What’s on your mind? You’ve been staring at me. You want to tell me something?” Daniel asked his attention now to Lisa. He read the look on Lisa’s face, there he knew she wanted to tell him something but she was reluctant about it.
He picked up the Tv remote and switched the Tv off. He dropped the remote on the table and turned to Lisa.
“Go on say it, you shouldn’t be scared” Daniel smiled at Lisa as she stared at him surprisingly. She wondered how he knew she was about to tell her something but couldn’t. God!! This guy had taken his time to study me and now understands me, Lisa thought.
“Lisa, it’s alright you can tell me” Daniel called jolting her out of her thoughts. Lisa swallowed hard.
“I……” she paused and joined her lips together. She was scared of how Daniel would react once she tells him she’s gotten herself a job in a restaurant.
“It’s okay, you do not need to worry yourself: you can tell me at your own convenient time,” Daniel said and Lisa sighed. She should just tell him once and for all, she thought.
“I was just thinking, now that everything is over and the culprit has been found. My life is no longer in danger. I would love to start working and stop staying at home” Lisa said and Daniel smiled.
“You’ll give birth months from now, you should rest at home, visit your friends and have fun. If you need anything tell me I’ll take of it myself ” Daniel said and just then he heard his phone ring.
“Hello, Williams” he called as he answered the phone while Williams spoke from the other end.
“Ok sure, I’ll check it now,” Daniel said and ended the call, switching on his data and going online.
“I’ll be expecting the baby 5 to 6 months from now. It’s still very far. I just wanted to work and earn some money for myself ” Lisa said
“I’ll give you the money or whatever you want. I just don’t want you stressing yourself ” Daniel said his eyes on his phone.
“No, it’s not just the money. I just want to work and at least leave home every day, it’s like an exercise for me” Lisa said and Daniel sighed, turning to her.
“Ok then. You’ll resume back your post in the office ” Daniel said his attention now back to his phone.
“I can’t Daniel. Since I started working in your company, I have caused you a lot of trouble. I wouldn’t want more problems, please ” Lisa said in a baby tone and Daniel hummed.
“You’ve never caused me any trouble Lisa, but if you do not want to work in my company, it’s fine I’ll understand. Where do you want to work then?” Daniel asked as he hummed reading a business proposal that was forwarded to him on his phone.
“A restaurant down the street here. It’s not that far from the house” Lisa said
“What are you going to do there? A kitchen manager, a line cook, or a fast food cook? Or maybe a server?” Daniel asked and Lisa kept shut without saying a word.
“It’s too stressful Lisa. You’re pregnant and want to go work under pressure?” Daniel asked and Lisa exhale softly.
“It’s not gonna be stressful,” Lisa said
” you can’t work in a restaurant. It’s gonna be too stressful for you Lisa” Daniel said and stood up.
“But I already got the job,” Lisa said and Daniel turned to him looking shocked. She had applied for the job even before telling him, he thought. He felt so angry at her.
“What?? Lisa” Daniel paused staring at her
“Yeah, I applied weeks ago and they sent me a message this afternoon that I should resume tomorrow, ” Lisa said as she stood up from the chair she was sitting on.
“You’re not taking the job Lisa and that’s final,” Daniel said and was about to walk away but stopped and turned to Lisa when she spoke.
“Daniel I appreciate the fact that you took me in when I had nothing and needed help so bad. You saved my life and all. I appreciate it and I don’t know how to repay you but someday I will.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t tell me what to do or You can’t control me like I’m some kind of puppet. I’m not a slave anymore, Daniel.
I’m going to take the job Daniel and there’s nothing that can change my mind about it” Lisa said and Daniel stared at her for some seconds without saying a word and just then he walked away from her.
