Oh wow!! You looking sexy day by day” Julia said as she hugged her and pecked her on her cheeks. Lisa laughed.
“Where’s Dina?” Lisa asked
“They’re inside,” Derek said and Lisa nodded before walking inside the house.
“Oh my goodness Lisa, where have you been? I have been so worried about you” Dina said as she hugged Lisa so tight.
“I was worried about you too. Your number wasn’t going through at all” Lisa said as they pulled away from the hug.
“What about Clara?” Lisa asked
“Oh!! She’s sleeping. I’m so happy Lisa. The surgery was successful. Thank you very much for everything you’ve been doing for me and Clara. I owe you my life” Dina said and Lisa smiled
“It’s nothing. We are family ” Lisa said and just then her eyes drifted to joy who was sitting in the corner of the room pressing her phone.
“Joy, how are you?” Lisa asked
“Finally someone’s seen me. I thought I was invisible ” joy said as she stood up and walked towards Lisa and hugged her.
“Sorry, I wasn’t looking. How Are you?” Lisa asked as they pulled away from the hug.
“I’m okay” joy responded as she went back to her seat.
“What about Martha? Isn’t she here?” Lisa asked
“I’m here,” Martha said as she walked out of one of the rooms in the house.
“I went to use the toilet,” Martha said as she hugged Lisa briefly.
“How are you doing?” Lisa asked
“I’m okay. I’m so sorry I didn’t call u after that day at the party. I lost my phone. Although I tried looking for you you were nowhere to be found so I assumed you left” Martha said
“Oh, it’s nothing. I had forgotten about that. And I’m so sorry about your phone. I hope you’ve gotten a new one?” Lisa asked and she nodded in response.
“I’ll go see Clara inside, ” Lisa said and walked inside Clara’s room with Dina.
She stared at Clara who was sleeping peacefully on the bed.
“Thank you, Lisa. I and Clara are forever grateful, ” Dina said as tears gathered in her eyes.
“It’s nothing, Dina. It’s nothing” Lisa said and hugged Dina. Just then they heard a knock on the door and Derek walked in.
“We will be going back to the office now. Gat a lot of work to do there” Derek said and Dina nodded.
“Thank you for coming,” Dina said
“See you some other time, ” Lisa said and Derek blew a kiss before walking out of the room locking the door behind him.
“So, how was the birthday party? How did it go? I know a lot of eyes were on you that day” Dina said as she and Lisa walked out of Clara’s room.
“Not really, ” Lisa said and Dina laughed.
“I thought you had gone with them?” Dina asked as she saw Martha in the sitting room.
“No, I’ll be leaving later,” Martha said and suddenly she stood up holding her legs together.
“Dina please I need to use your toilet again,” Martha said before running inside the toilet. Lisa and Dina laughed.
“She’s having a running stomach,” Dina said
“Yeah, I know. I wonder what she ate” Lisa said as she sat on the couch Martha had stood up from. She mistakenly sat on her bag.
“Oh, shit” Lisa stood up and removed the bag from the couch, and just then she caught a glimpse of Martha’s old phone. She thought Martha said she had misplaced the phone.
She wondered why she had lied in the first place. She dropped the bag on top of the phone and went to sit on another couch where Dina was sitting.
“What’s wrong?” Dina asked
“It’s Martha. There’s something off about her” Lisa said and Dina scoffed.
“Maybe you’re the one overthinking things,” Dina said Lisa hummed. And just then Martha walked in. She was looking so stressed and drained.
“What did you eat last night before going to bed?” Dina asked as Martha collapsed on the couch.
“I only drank a few fruit drinks, and are chocolate. That’s all ” Martha said and Lisa chuckled.
“You are too much sugary stuff. You should eat a little next time” Lisa advised and Martha nodded.
Just then Lisa heard her phone ring. It was a call from the driver.
“Hello max,” she said
“Ma’am I just received a call from home that ma’am Lois is sick,” the driver said
“Oh my goodness. I’ll be out in a jiffy” Lisa said and ended the call. She put her phone in her bag and stood up.
” I have to go now, Dina. I just received a call that ma’am Lois is sick” Lisa said
“Oh my goodness. I would have loved to come with you, but my daughter needs me now. You should go check on her and make sure she’s alright” Dina said and they both hugged each other.
“Okay bye Martha,” Lisa said to Martha who had already fallen asleep. She rushed out of the house and hopped inside the car.
“Let’s go,” she said to the driver who ignited the engine and took off.
Lisa had almost gotten home when she heard her phone ring. It was a call from Dina. She had just left her house so she wondered why she was calling.
Maybe she wanted to ask her if she had gotten home.
“Hello Lisa,” Dina said in a whisper as she answered the phone call.
“Dina I’m not home yet,” Lisa said
“Lisa, you need to come here right away. I just found out the truth something about…..” the call ended at once.
“Hello hello,” Lisa said but the call had already ended. She wondered what she was trying to tell her. What did she find out about?
She tried calling her back but this time her number wasn’t going through, instead, it was saying switched off.
Lisa sighed softly and put her phone back in her bag.
