Vivian POV
I turned sharply to leave but before i could even take a step out, he pulled me back and I stumbled on my feet and fell on his chest.
Fuck! I cursed inwardly as I immediately scrambled away from his body, not liking the feelings that coursed through me.
“I’m- I’m sorry, I didn’t want to inconvenience you” He quickly apologized as I arranged my dress.
“It’s fine Daniel, I would just step out” I answered, forcing a smile on my face.
“You don’t have to. I can actually be the one to leave if you’re uncomfortable, please pardon me” He added, turned around and left. I watched his back Ashe walked back to Sofia who seemed to be selecting another dress entirely.
What is all these? I felt confused in my head. Things was getting complicated and I don’t even understand my own thoughts and feelings any more.
My mind instantly went back to Max.
‘He should be alright? He hadn’t returned neither had he called. He’s alright Vivian, just calm yourself’ I assured myself in my head, silently hoping that Max was okay.
I diverted my focus away from Sofia as I went farther away from the dress I had wanted to buy. I was no longer interested in anything as what worried me at the moment was getting a cool breeze on my skin. Everywhere suddenly felt suffocating for no reason, even with the air condition that cooled the whole store yet my body still gushed out pores of heat.
I walked towards a far end of the store that had an open outlet with a cool breeze rushing in. Looking around to find where I could relax, o sighted a small seat at a corner and made towards it. I pulled the chair to sit beside the outlets, completely forgetting that this wasn’t just a house rather a luxury store but who cared!
I quietly sat down and shut my eyes in thoughts. I felt drained and exhausted, I wanted to rest, it had been very tough these past few days and Max wasn’t making it any bit easier for me with his sudden possessive attitude that creeped me out.
A man who didn’t want anything to do with me now suddenly wants my baby to belong to him? A cruel joke indeed? As long as I’m still concerned, I won’t let Max or anyone find out about my baby until I’m gone.
” Vivian!” The loud yell of my name broke me out of my thoughts and I cocked my head to find the person.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, the feeling of dejection and betrayal hung heavy in my heart.
“I was calling you Vivian but you seemed zoned out, I was looking for you” Sofia replied calmly as she stared at me with a pitiful expression on her face.
Okay! This was the height of it! One of the things I despised most was pity and she knew pretty well I hated that.
“If you’ve come here to apologise Sofia then there’ll be no need because I have nothing against you. You must have had your reasons for it” I asserted with a smug carelessly chosen expression.
She let out a long breath, crouched down and sat beside me. I wasn’t expecting that reaction from her but decided to keep cool, there was nothing wrong with her sitting beside me despite the fact that it turned out she had not been completely honest with me all these while.
“Listen Vivian, you’re my best friend and there’s something you should know” She began.
“I understand Sofia but_”
“Fuck Vivian! Just listen to me will you?” She cut me off instantly and I was forced to keep quiet.
I nodded ” Go ahead then, I’m all ears” I said with a nonchalance voice.
“There are somethings I do not wish for you to ever find out Vivian as much as it pains me to say it.” She added and I furrowed my brows at her.
What does she mean by that?
” You know that Max’s Mom is dead right? The one right now is not his real Mom” She divulged and I widened my eyes in surprise.
How did she know?
“Sofia, what has that got to do with you and how did you even know? I just recently found out from Max’s Father” I replied, curiosity settling in me once more.
“Don’t worry Vivian, just forget about how I found out, I’m a lawyer after all and our key words is ” information” She smiled but I still felt confused, her words seemed like a parable I couldn’t explain to myself.
” How do you mean?”
“Vivian, a lot are hidden in the dark. Things I wouldn’t want you to get involved in. Max is living a Dangerous life and I want to tell you that as soon as your deal with him expires after a month just like you told me, just flee! Flee far away from here Vivian. You won’t be able to handle it if you don’t. Don’t let your feelings pull you down from what you should do because I know you still have feelings for him” She briefed, staring at me with a gaze that depicted I followed her advice. Somehow, I felt a bit terrified at the tone, more like a warning of something bad that would soon escalate itself and claim to destruction.
“To be very honest Sofia, if I say I understand your words one bit would be lying to myself! I really don’t get what you mean!” I replied, masking the fear that was slowly beginning of creep up into my head.
She shook her head in disapproval of my words ” You’re stubborn and I do not wish for you to find out these things at the moment but then I have a question”
“And which is?” I inquired.
“You remember the day my Mom died right? The accident?” She asked and I nodded, the memories suddenly flashing in my head as I recalled when both I and Sofia had had received a call that her Mom was involved in a ghastly car accident.
“I remember, I remember Sofia but what has that got to do with Max?”
” Max’s Mom died on the same day, in the same car and at the same time”
