Vivian POV
Thud…. Thud…. Thud.
Beep… Beep… Beep.
One… Two…. Three, I snapped my eyes open, the intensity of the sun shone brightly on my face as I turn to face the other side of the wall.
Inhaling a bit of fresh air that penetrates through the window, my legs instantly hit a table and I wince in pain.
Lazily trying to sit up, the memories come flooding in my mind. Glancing around the room, I realize it isn’t mine but somewhere else.
Oh I remember now, I was in a hospital, Max and I had a well heated hot round of super sex, not minding that I was terribly feeling ill. It wasn’t his fault after all, I had forced him to do it.
Just then, the door opened and Max walked in, a worried expression on his face.
“Vivian.. Damn it, I thought I might have hurt you. I’m sorr_” He coughed, halting on his words as he realized what he was about to say.
Max was a proud Man, a very proud Man that wouldn’t even stoop low to apologizing to anyone let alone me.
” I thought you were about saying something?” I arched an eyebrow at him in sarcasm. He stared at me as if unable to comprehend what I meant but I knew too well he understood me.
Doctor Tim walked in again, fidgeting as he bowed to Max then gave me a chilly stare that made my heart race, completely implicative.
“Here, you asked for a re- examination on her again, this is the result” He handed over an A4 paper to Max who instantly took and flipped it open. I gulped down in sheer nervousness, noticing how Max’s expression changed differently at time intervals_ from a frown, he would nod then frown again, then raise his brows and in the next moment, his eyes darkened then returned to a normal expression.
I wondered what was written on the report, if Doctor Tim had finally given him the real test reports. At this point, there wasn’t any need hiding or running if Max should already find out about the fact that I was pregnant_ a leniency I knew he would have over me, the leverage he would use to keep me forever knowing that I wouldn’t easily abandon my child. Despite the expression on his face, I silently hoped that it wouldn’t turn out to be what I feared the most.
” This doesn’t add up” Max said, turning to face Doctor Tim with a frown. I wondered what he meant by that. I was already expecting him to look at me with a cold stare, perhaps shout, vent his rage for being despicable as hiding something like this from him but the expression on his face told me otherwise_ maybe, just maybe, what was written in the report was different from what I was currently thinking, maybe Doctor Tim hadn’t really exposed me.
” It’s still the same as previous, nothing has changed Mr Max” Tim said with a bow, his gaze stuck on tiled floor.
Max didn’t seem to register his words, it was more like he was missing something he couldn’t properly place his hands. My heart relaxed at the realization that the truth haven’t been discovered yet, my heart felt light and I released a long breath obliviously drawing Max’s attention to myself.
” You seem very content Vivian.” He narrowed his eyes at me, his voice lacing with a slight sizzle of unsatisgacton.
“Huh? What are you talking about Max? Content about what exactly?” I asked with a hinge of cackle in my tone and he caught it, his eyes flickering with a suppressed anger.
“We’re checking in on another hospital” He divulged and my eyes shot out in horror.
