Vivian POV
The questions had caught me of guard as I sat still, pondering on the words to use and reply him.
“I_ I… Damn it Max! I don’t know what to say” I replied, feeling frustrated.
” Say anything from anywhere Vivian, I want answers to all the questions” He looked at me sternly, his expression chilly.
“The answer to the last question is a “no” I am not pregnant Max and, I don’t plan to be and will never be” I answered, glancing sideways as not to meet his solemn gaze.
” And the other question” I said, rolling my eyes ” I didn’t discuss much with Daniel Browns, he only said he came to see someone in the hospital before we stumbled upon each other and gracious goodness, he recognized me.” I explained, a smile creeping the corners of my lips as I remembered the scene ” He also asked about you but that was the time you interrupted, nothing more and nothing less” I added, feeling a slight breeze envelope my skin as I turned to lie back on the bed.
“Amd the other question? Why were you running to me at the pool? I want to Know the reason you hit me” He demanded and I stilled in my movements, gulping down at the intensity he stretched the words, something that felt like he wasn’t very pleased with whatever it is.
“Well… I … I, wanted to tell you something” I coughed out slightly, clearing my throat. ” I overheard your brother planning your assassination with the lady he came with” I revealed, glancing at his face to see his expression but was surprised to see that he didn’t even seem surprised by it.
“Max, I just said something. Your brother is planning to kill you and I think you need stay clear and carful” I nagged, breaking the deafening silence between us.
Why doesn’t he react to the news? It seems almost like he knew what it was seeing how calm, composed and recollected he maintained. Even after my rantings, he still remained mute, completely ignoring what I had just said.
Max stood up tugged his hands inside his trousers pocket and turned to walk out of the door.
“Where are you going Max?”I inquired, he breached in his steps on the way, his hands gently pushing down the door. There was a stunned silence as he looked at me. Somehow, his gaze made me creep with anxiety but I managed to still my heated body from the exposure.
” You haven’t told me this since, and you’re just saying it now? What’s your reason for it?” He finally broke the silence in the room. I fidgeted with my fingers, once again, staring blankly at the ground at a loss for words. I sensed his countenance change from a relaxed and calm one to a more deadly body language. He wasn’t shocked but rather, upset, angry, aghast. As much as it bothered me, I still felt a little guilt pierce my conscience.
He was right, I should have told him about it sooner than later.
“Or do you hate me as much to want me dead by them?” The words he let out this time was the straw that jerked me to reality. I felt my heart palpitate at the weight of the accusation.
What does he mean by that. I tore my gaze away from the ground and looked up at him. His eyes was raised in a questioning glare; doubt, name it all. That was all his expression was depicting at the moment.
But no matter what Max had done to me, it had never even crossed my mind to want him dead, never!
“Why would you say such a thing Max? What does that even mean?” I demanded, my voice laced with seriousness, disliking the sheer attitude he emanated right now.
“Why wouldn’t I Vivian? I even wonder why you told me at this moment, perhaps, you should have just kept it to yourself. After all what am I expecting from an heiress who dismissed six shareholders at the headquarters at the headquarters, don’t you think my father is really breeding you to become a totally different person Vivian?” He divulged and I felt my heart pause at his words.
Heiress? How did he find out about my identity?
