Vivian POV
I walked towards the mirror beside the wardrobe and stood, staring at my reflection and the dress I wore.
The gown was attached with diamond Stones which cut off abruptly at my knee length, showing and accentuating my figure. Max had brought out the gown as well as a high-heeled silver shoe hidden in between his pile of clothes in the wardrobe, I was shocked when he did that because I had ransacked in the wardrobe but found no female dress. I smiled, pushing my hair towards the back and straightening then with my fingers, at least, my looks seemed satisfying this time around since I didn’t want to give my Mom the medium to think that I’m suffering or whatever.
“Ready Vivian?” Max said from behind and I jerked around, turning to see him in a brownish coloured tailored, for once I was lost gazing at him, recollecting those times when he would usually come back from work wearing most of it. Max was the type of person that doesn’t joke with work and seeing him wearing this suit raised suspicions inside me.
“You aren’t really going with me to the hospital. Are you?” I asked and he smirked, his eyes glowing with excitement which felt totally strange.
” Why? I’m going with you of course” He replied lazily, his face contorting with a held laughter. He sparkled sincerely, his expression growing more brighter which made my heart skip.
Why does have to be this handsome’ I clenched my fists together, disliking the way my body was already getting crazy goosebumps.
“Then why are you wearing that? I mean that’s a dress code for work not like you’re going to introduce yourself to my Mom” I whined, shifting my gaze to another part of the room to avoid looking at his hands on features.
“What if I am? Introducing myself properly officially this time around wouldn’t be a bad idea either?” He replied, raising a questioning eyebrow at me. I shrugged, ignoring him completely and walked towards the door past him.
“Here” He said, extending a blue portable bag towards. I was stunned, speechless. When had Max gotten all these?
“I thought you would be needing it, every last goes with a handbag Vivian” He added and I pressed my lips together to each other. He was right and I had completely forgotten that I was empty-handed, wearing an expensive beautiful dress without a bag? Right now, I became ridiculous of my own self.
“Thanks” I muttered again, collecting the bag from his hand and swung it at one side of my shoulder.
“You’re pretty” He complimented suddenly and I nodded, wanting to open the door but Max was fast enough to pull down the door knob, swinging it open to one side then stepped back for me to walk out.
The courtesy was strange, creep and unusual but I remained silent, keeping my gaze down as I walked out. He shut it afterwards and walked behind as he suddenly, slid his hands into my arms, interlocking our arms together
“What are you doing?” I asked, growing uncomfortable at our closely connected body.
“You don’t want to give them a bad impression downstairs, do you?” He said, reminding me of the fact that we were still acting and I nodded knowingly and relaxed.
It didn’t take few seconds before we arrived downstairs, I was beginning to get familiar with the building gradually.
“Going somewhere already this early?” Mr Norman’s voice rang out behind us, taking us by surprise. We hadn’t even noticed he was here, his face covered with a newspaper.
“Yes father, we’re going to work” Max answered curtly, making me dart my eyes questioningly at him.
Why would he say that? Perhaps, he should have found another excuse to give, maybe a picnic or a date.
“Alright, but keep in mind that I might need Vivian to accompany me to the head quarters towards evening today” Mr Norman said and I felt Max’s body stiffened against my own.
I was utterly stunned too! Why would he need me to accompany him to the head quarters? Definitely, I didn’t like the sound of that and I think it was the same for Max, that was totally a first!
“But Dad, why would you need just her alone. You could with me or Daniel instead. Vivian isn’t really familiar with the high-ups” Max retold, his voice suddenly drained off their excitement earlier.
Mr Norman dropped the newspaper he was reading, adjusted his glasses and smiled at us ” There’s nothing you should worry about. She would be safe Max. I just need her to help couple a few things there and she’s the only one that can do this particular task. If I had needed you or your brother then I would’ve said that” Mr Norman sashayed as he crossed his knees over to one another, swapping his hands as well and a smile radiating at the corners of his lips. Something strange seemed to be going through his head because at the moment which felt quite out of character and the tension in the room suddenly became stiff, uncomfortable with a hinge of disagreement in lots of unspoken words, low-key.
“When would you need me back father” I said, my breaking out amidst the dead silence. Max looked at me like I was crazy from a corner, his gaze depicting I should object to it.
“By 3 pm we move dear” Mr Norman replied as he stood, collected the newspaper that he had dropped earlier and strode off into the house. As soon as he was out of sight, Max left my arms with a question” What’s come over you? How could accept that so easily huh?” He ranted, his tone laced with a hidden worry.
” Going with your father to the headquarters wouldn’t be such a bad idea Max, besides it would only get you more closer to the crown” I replied with an air of nonchalance as I took to a gentle pace.
” He’s my father and you don’t know him that well. You aren’t going to the headquarters. I won’t let you”
