Chapter 23

Book:Mr Billionaire Husband Regrets Divorce Published:2025-4-15

Vivian POV
I was shocked to see Max’s mother pull at my hair roughly, yanking few strands off my head and I winced.
“Let go of my hair !” I yelled but she gripped it harder, twisting it around as if wanting to pull of everything. I became very angry, not like I couldn’t do anything but I was scared of hurting her since she was Mr Norman’s wife and I would atone him that respect.
“Let her go Hannah, she’s done nothing wrong for this attitude!” Mr Norman snapped, his voice sharp with a authority but his wife disagreed on the spot ” No, I won’t. She caused it all, if she hadn’t forced herself against Max then he would still be my lovely son and she’s barren!” She said, tightening her fists even more harder on my hair. At this point, I couldn’t bear it anymore and I pushed her off heavily and she fell back, crashing heavily on her butts.
“What the fuck!” Daniel stood up enraged, storming towards me. ” How dare you push my mother, someone old enough to birth you huh?” He raised his hands to hit me but in that moment, a voice blared from upfront.
“Lay a finger on her Daniel and you would cease using them for a lifetime” Max thundered, coming towards us and Daniel stilled in his actions, his hand hung in the air as he gently retracted them behind him.
“You saw that didn’t you? She pushed mother and you stand there and do nothing Max!” Daniel clenched his fists as Max finally came and stood beside me, taking my hands into his own and turned to look at me, flashing a smile ” Are you hurt?” He asked, his tone his tone laced with worry which made me catch two feelings.
What exactly was Max playing at? I thought he should scream at me for pushing his mother hard but all he cared for at the moment was if I was hurt. Somehow, I felt the protective feelings warm my heart.
I nodded at him and he smiled and finally shifted his gaze towards his mother who still laid on the floor, her eyes wet with unshed tears and an ounce of guilt pierced through my heart.
I did wrong right? I should have just let her have her way.
” You won’t keep sitting on that floor Hannah? Are you? Get up, you’re stronger than this don’t you think so?” Max said, his expression seemed cold at the moment as he looked at his mother then to his brother who was still fuming in anger. It was obvious he was scared of Max and whatever it was that was going on in this family, I needed to find out. Max seemed to have more to tell than show.
But what marveled me the most was how Mr Norman was so calm even while I had pushed down his wife, everything was entirely strange for me.
” You know what Max? You’re crazy. You’re too stupid to be part of the Norman’s” Hannah said, bitterness etching in her features yet Damon’s smile didn’t faze, instead it widened even more.
“Hmmm. It’s very good you know I’m crazy and yet I’m too stupid to be part of the Norman’s? So what’s your stance. Both you and your son Daniel” He pointed his fingers at them. “Tell me, are you part of the Norman’s? Or do you want me to remind you of your illegality in this family?” Max raised his voice a bit as unlocked my hands from his and strode towards Hannah. He bent down to her height, their gazes boring into each other. One had a look of hate while the other had an expression of_ perhaps, triumph.
” Tell me Hannah. Do you think you can actually remove me as a Norman with your status? Common, you’ve got the bigger share, 80% right? If I’m not mistaken for more perhaps 100%? Why don’t you will all those shares to your son and exterminate me from the family?”Max bashed, his words held secrets. More secrets that seemed complicated, I was utterly confused of what he was talking about.
Was Hannah not his mother or something? And why was Mr Norman not doing anything about it? There was more blank spaces that wasn’t filled yet in my puzzle.
” Max, don’t speak to mother like that. It’s not her fault she prefers me over you. You were just useless for her. You’re incompetent for her to place a value on you despite being the first son. And it’s obvious you can’t bear the weight of envy” Daniel chipped in. I hated his speeches so much because each time he opens his mouth to say something, I knew it was going to be a baseless talk, condescending words, and demeaning remark.
Max stood up from where he squatted away from his mother and faced Max, attempting to say something but I cut him off, disliking how Daniel had spoken about Max.
What kind of mother would hate one of child and prefer the other? That wasn’t fair!
” You think it’s an achievement for your mother’s preference over him” I said cackling and his eyes bubbled with rage. My words always had a way of piercing through him and I loved the impact it gave on him. I continued ” Once useless, once useful and once useful once useless. You would be discarded so easily once your worth runs out and you can no longer jeep it in order” I rolled my eyes at Hannah ” For a woman to loathe a harmless son and prefer another could only mean she’s scheming for a particular goal and once she arrives at that goal, trust me, you would prefer being motherless than what you’ll get” I finally dropped on my usual bombs and Hannah who had been sitting on the ground for the whole time instantly stood up, flashing a murderous gaze at me.
Oh wait, did I hit a certain nerve? This was becoming more interesting than I thought!
