Vivian POV
My lips hung open in shock at the sudden question, my heart raced with trepidation. Never, never had Max’s mother ever spoken to me or spoke about me but the very first words that came off her lips was totally against me.
“Vivian is not Barren Mom, we’ll only have a baby when we are ready simple!” Max felt offended. There was this tension between him and his mother that felt so unrelatable. Something that seemed like Max wasn’t in good terms with his Mom and it obviously seemed sh was against him. Now I realize why Max was closer to his father and obeyed every words of his.
“I really hope so too dear Max” She replied, sneering at me heavily. I tugged Max at his hands, wrapping my arms around his neck and instantly planted a kiss on his cheeks with smiles ” Don’t worry honey, she’s only worried she might not get to see her grandchildren, don’t think too much of it” I said to Max with sarcasm and that had ignited a blazing fire as she instantly stood up and flared at me.
“What the hell does that mean? Are you saying I won’t live long enough to see my grandchildren?” She uttered in a demanding stance and I turned around to face her, my expression deepening with a frown.
Like I said before, I hated hypocrites and Max’s mother wasn’t going to be an exception if she behaved like one.
“I didn’t say that mother. You’re totally implying another meaning to my very innocent words” I answered, my voice lacing with anger. I would never stoop to be intimidated, and to say her question wasn’t drastically sensitive to me would be lying. It was already obvious she disliked I and Max and whatever it was, I wouldn’t have her take it out on me. Never!
“Innocent words you say” She gave a small laugh and walked closer towards where we stood but Max stepped in front of me, shielding me from. ger view.
“We’re just coming here mother and you wouldn’t let my wife have a cup of breath already? She also deserves some respect and if her words had hurt you in anyway, I guess you should deal with it” Max shot back angrily and immediately pulled me along as he stormed out of the room.
Whatever it was that Max had with his mother must be surely deep and I was already curious to find out.
We took a room not very far from the living room and entered, as soon as he shut the door, I turned to face him with a deadly stare ” Is there something I’m perhaps missing on everything Max?” I questioned closely and he sighed, walking the white bed that laid across the room and relaxed.
“What do you mean Vivian?” He sighed and rested on the bed, with his eyes instantly shut close. I took out time to survey him, he seemed to be very exhausted and I wondered if it was the right time to satisfy my curiosity and after several thinking, I decided to wave the question off for another time.
Just then, a thought escaped my mind I shot him a deadly look “Wait Max, we aren’t sharing the same bed right?” I questioned but he remained silent, confirming my suspicion.
“No, I will not share this same bed with you Max” I said.
” And who else are you gonna share a bed with Vivian? We’re a couple and staying apart in different rooms would create suspicions. Couples stay in one room” He replied, feeling relaxed and I clenched hands, glaring at his nonchalant attitude again.
“Then I would take the floor while you have the bed to yourself, I don’t care if we have to act Max. I’m definitely not sleeping on the same bed as you, simple!” I retorted.
“Hmm… Suit yourself then Vivian. I have absolutely no objections” He replied and within minutes, the room fell silent and I realized he was fast asleep.
Oh goodness me! What have I gotten myself into? I wasn’t even sure if I was going to last a month with this stupid deal of his.
Just immediately, there was a familiar ring in the room and I realized it was the phone Max had ceased from me. I instantly searched for it and found it in his pockets.
So he still held onto this since then? I questioned in my mind, confused about why he would still have the phone with him. I glanced at the screen and saw the caller was Sofia and I connected the call in a low volume.
“Hey Vivi. Is everything okay? Where did that asshole take you to? I’m already at the station. He had no right to abduct you against your wish even if you’re his wife let alone when you both already signed to Divorce.” Sofia ranted through the phone, the rage was visible in her tone as I knew she was worried about me but instead I ignored all her questions, telling everything through the phone wouldn’t be convenient enough.
“How is Mom Sofia, I mean her surgery went well right?” I asked and I heard the slight gasp that escaped her lips. She was probably confused of how I had ignored her questions just to ask another one.
“Surgery was a success Vivian. She’s fine and soon enough she’ll be looking for you. Where the hell did that scumbag of a husband take you to? Start talking please?” She asked worriedly and I smiled, loving the feeling of how she genuinely cared about me. Sofia was the only friend I had as I wasn’t the type that socialized with people.
“I’m fine Sofia. And everything is fine but I would need you to do me a favor this time around” I stated, pressing tightly on my phone.
“And what is that Vivian?”
“I wouldn’t be coming back for a month and I want you to help me take care of my Mom till I’m back” I revealed and we fell into an awkward silence.
“Tell me something”
