Vivian POV
“What do you mean by that. My Mom has absolutely nothing to do with your antics!?” I sneered quickly at him. One thing I hated was someone using my mom’s vulnerability for something flimsy. I wouldn’t tolerate anyone who does that and he wasn’t an exception.
“She has nothing to do with it if you accept it. ”
“Are you threatening me Max?” I asked and he smiled.
” I’m not. I just want you for a month. Marry me for a month Vivian and after father hands over the asset to me, we’ll both Divorce, I promise” He asserted, looking at me intently.
“I settled her surgery Bills and will also have her moved to a different hospital for more proper treatment Vivian”
“So it was you all along. One of your schemes to get me into your deal right?” I asked, not believing my ears especially at the fact that I had thought it was a good Samaritan that had paid off my mom’s surgery Bills.
“Did you think fifty thousand dollars could get your Mom treated?” He asked and I arched my brows at him, confused of his words .
What did he mean by that?
” Your Mom didn’t only have stomach cancer but also has a tumor growing in her brain right?” He asked and I was shocked.
How did he find out? It was the truth but the doctor had told me to get the surgery for her stomach cancer done first before proceeding to the tumor that developed in her brain
I went silent in thoughts so as to choose my next words carefully. “And what has that got to do with this?” I demanded and he smiled, crossing his arms together as he weighed me with his eyes.
“After her surgery, she would be moved to the States for proper treatment and you wouldn’t get to see her except, perhaps, you accept my proposal” He blurted out with nonchalance. His attitude obviously irked me but I kept my cool from flaring up with rage.
” Are you making a deal with my mother in the line? Has she turned to your property as well?” I asked harshly, hating the fact that I was useless against his decisions.
Max had connections, extremely powerful connections that could even put one’s life at stake and it was no surprise that he would go to any length to prevent me from seeing my mom until I accepted his deal.
“She’s not my property but my mother-in-law Vivian, shouldn’t I take care of her since your father couldn’t?” He smirked and I clenched my fists, hating the mockery in his tone about my father.
“She’s not your mother-in-law Max!” I snapped quickly at him but he turned around, and walked towards the mansion, ignoring me totally and leaving me confused.
What exactly is wrong with him?
I moved from where I stood to follow him but just then, another car pulled off in front of the mansion and I whirled around to see a familiar figure stepped out.
Wait. Isn’t that Daniel? Max’s younger brother. Their features was very similar that at one glance, I could tell it was actually him. A woman stepped out beside him, flaunting her long brown wavy hair that cascades down to her waist, wearing a Louis Vuitton vintage shirt and afrodite trouser, her attire was simple but one could tell the affluence radiating from her. They walked towards me with their guards behind them, their shoulders raised high and their chin up like nothing mattered to them except their presence alone.
Indeed, I realized why Max wouldn’t take chances leaving his rights for his younger brother, the proudness that came off him was suffocating.
” What a surprise Vivian. I thought you guys already separated?” He said, stopping right in front of me with a condescending look. There was something about his gaze that seemed hateful, especially for my presence maybe he didn’t expect to see me here.
I smiled wryly, hiding the bint of rage in my tone. I hated proud people, people that thinks only their existence mattered in the world and the rest were peasants. Max wasn’t proud but rather dominating but his brother was the complete opposite of a warm person.
” It’s indeed a good surprise Daniel, sticking together and taking what belongs to us wouldn’t be such a bad idea right?” I retorted with a hint of sarcasm and a deadly glint sparkled in his eyes, rage, despise, hate, all at once. Even though I was not in good terms with Max at the moment, I still wouldn’t condone anyone who thinks they could step on me and this time around, siding with Max wouldn’t be such a bad idea. The woman beside him seemed to have noticed the countenance and stepped in front of him, looking at me with an irritating gaze but I chewed nonchalantly with my lips, making even their presence useless to me.
” I wouldn’t be here if I was you young lady. Keep sticking to a man who has some other woman pregnant for him and trust me once Max gets what he wants, you’ll be as good as useless” She fired, her expression contorting with disgust. Somehow her words stung me, reminding me of my predicament with Max but I fazed off the feelings, that was between I and Max to settle and I wouldn’t let anyone jeopardize that against me.
” I like what you said, at least I’ll be useful to him to the time I’ll no longer be needed but then, he would be getting what rightfully belongs to him and there’ll still be a loser at the end” I countered with a jest, giving her one final scornful look ” I have a stand in the Norman’s family unlike someone whose owner doesn’t even feed, you’re very welcome Miss, make sure to make yourself comfortable” I said and with that I turned and walked into the mansion, feeling a sense of victory overwhelm me.
When had I become so good with words that it could cut through someone like a knife? I was beginning to love this new side of me that I never knew existed.
