As Chris stared at the black dots scattered across the monitors, he finally understood why Radiant Faith Chapel had been determined to eradicate Dark World for centuries.
After nearly a thousand years of growth, Dark World had infiltrated every corner of Earth. Particularly in this region, it seemed on the verge of being completely consumed by darkness. Eliminating Dark World was an almost insurmountable task.
The Pope turned to Chris and said, “Reaper, follow me.”
Chris followed the Pope into a room filled with computers of various sizes. Inside, a man was speaking into a radio.
“Flank them from both sides. The ones ahead are vampires, and the ones behind are werewolves…”
Hearing footsteps, the man turned around. His eyes lit up as soon as he saw Chris. He stood up immediately and said, “Master, why are you here?”
The man was none other than Alligator, the first of Chris’s four commanders.
Chris looked at Alligator curiously and asked, “Alligator, what are you doing here?”
Alligator explained, “Master, this is what’s been happening…”
In recent months, Dark World’s activities had become increasingly rampant, posing a significant threat to global security. To counter this menace, a global alliance had been formed-the Alliance of Light.
Led by Radiant Faith Chapel, the Alliance also included Amerosia, which had sent Alligator to the chapel’s headquarters to assist in the fight against Dark World.
After hearing this, Chris nodded in understanding. With Peter Gordon preparing to descend to Earth, Dark World’s activity had indeed become more aggressive. If left unchecked, darkness would one day dominate humanity, leading to catastrophic consequences.
Earlier, Alligator had been directing the Death Guards in their battle against Dark World creatures.
The Pope said to Chris and Alligator, “Come, let’s eat first and talk as we go.”
The group left the room and returned to the surface. The underground base was incredibly secure, its reinforced steel walls resistant even to missile strikes.
Armed guards lined the corridors. Some were from Radiant Faith Chapel, while others were elite forces from various nations. After the formation of the Alliance of Light, nearly every country had sent their best to the chapel.
As they walked, a young man approached.
The man stopped in front of Alligator and addressed him respectfully, “Commander Alligator.”
Alligator nodded and introduced the young man to Chris. “Jack Butler, let me introduce you to our master…”
Chris looked at Jack Butler in surprise. He hadn’t expected to see him here.
“How are you here?” Chris asked.
Jack Butler explained, “The formation of the Alliance of Light prompted the military to send me and Team Wolf to join the effort.”
Chris learned that Amerosia had sent not only Alligator but also Jack Butler’s Team Wolf to support the Alliance of Light.
Chris silently noted how much Master William valued the Alliance.
Alligator added, “Master, I had no idea you knew Jack Butler. He’s not only the captain of Team Wolf but also the youngest war general in Amerosia’s military. Sending him here is part of his training.”
Given Jack Butler’s rapid rise, he needed to prove himself through experience. The fight against Dark World and the formation of the Alliance of Light were perfect opportunities for this.
Jack Butler was strong and worked well with Alligator.
After their meal, Chris, Alligator, and their team set out for Mercerland, Dark World’s headquarters and its most deeply infiltrated region.
Several hours later, they arrived.
The Pope turned to Jack Butler and Alligator. “Alligator, you’ll be in charge here. Jack Butler, you’ll lead the operations.”
Then he turned to Chris with a smile. “Chris, I brought you here so you could see how Radiant Faith Chapel fights Dark World.”
Chris nodded. Since he was here, he wanted to witness their methods firsthand.
He knew that the main combatants would be the Death Guards and Team Wolf.
Dark World was powerful, and Chris wanted to minimize harm to his own people.
Jack Butler briefed Chris about their mission. “This town is a Dark World stronghold. Our goal is to eliminate its dark forces. By the way, I’ve heard you’re a sniper expert. Care to show me?”
As Jack Butler spoke, he noticed Chris’s empty hands.
“Chris, what happened to your hands?” he asked curiously.
Chris smiled. Suddenly, a pair of black arms emerged from his body.
“What the hell?” Jack Butler exclaimed, stunned.
Chris didn’t provide an explanation. Instead, he smiled and said, “Didn’t you want to challenge me? Fine, let’s see who’s better. Let’s find a good vantage point first.”
Jack Butler nodded eagerly. “Alright!”
When night fell, Chris and Jack Butler moved to the outskirts of the town. They split up to find favorable sniper positions.
The town was small and eerily silent, blanketed by thick clouds of black Demon Spirit.
Chris could tell from the concentration of Demon Spirit how many Dark World operatives were inside.
Eventually, both men found their positions.
Jack Butler chose the highest building in town, giving him a clear view of the entire area.
Chris opted for a six-story building. Though not as tall, it offered an open view, making it ideal for sniping.
The town had few remaining residents. Most had been killed by Dark World forces.
Chris didn’t see the Death Guards or Team Wolf, but Jack Butler assured him they were nearby. They planned to launch their attack around 10 p. m.
Chris used his black hands to assemble his weapon.
Suddenly, he sensed that someone had locked onto him.
Turning his head, he spotted the source and sighed in mild frustration.
