CHAPTER 110

DIEGO
“You have a lot of explaining to do, Jeremy! How did Anna leave the lab despite all the guards around?!” I roared, storming out of the restaurant furiously, while talking to the lab doctor on my phone.
Even the manager of the eatery couldn’t walk up to me to ask how everything went. He stood aside and just watched us leave the building.
“I can’t believe you allowed Anna out of the lab!”
“I knew you were going to blame me for this Alpha, but you have to listen and trust me. I had no idea that she was missing until a guard came to tell me that he couldn’t find her!” He replied, defending himself.
Jeremy explained what had happened between him and Anna. She refused to take her treatment because she was feeling unhappy. But that was just a trick to stay active.
“I don’t know how or when she made her move, but it was unexpected!”
“And the guards? How come they didn’t spot her when she was leaving the place?!” I questioned, stepping into the car with Arnold.
My Beta was trying to locate Anna’s phone with his system, but we were getting nothing!
“I asked the guards and they said she went out for a stroll after she sparked at them for questioning her movement.”
“She did that?” My brow rose in amusement, over Anna’s behavior.
“Yeah, she did. It was really surprising to hear that from them. They said she sounded really tough and they didn’t want to get into any trouble,” Jeremy added, picking out the exact word I was looking for.
“None of them saw when she left the premises though. She was the one who called me from her line, telling me about her plan.”
“She called you from her phone? That means she went to the mansion first,” I grabbed, remembering well that Anna never had her phone with her when I left her at the lab.
Jeremy went on to explain what Anna had shared with him and her believe in her mission.
“From the way that jackass was communicating with her, it’s clear that he has been waiting for this moment to come. She was right about being the only who can get closer to him. The dude is obsessed with her. He showed her a crate filled with the drugs!” He said, getting thrilled.
But deep in my heart I was scared for my Anastasia.
She’s going to see Damian!
That man desires to have Anna at his feet, kneeling and worshipping his body like he owns her.
What if she fails to get the substance from him and he outsmarts her?
Heaven! Why is this happening now?!
“I’m just glad that she messaged you about her plans after hitting the road,” Jeremy said, making me flash to Anna’s words before I left the lab.
I should have figured it out right there, but I didn’t. Anna was trying to get me to go after Damian instead of Cassandra. She knew he had all those drugs.
“Remember we had a plan to get both Damian and Cassandra to provide the drugs?” Her voice echoed in my head, making me unhappy with myself even more.
She knew but didn’t tell me because I won’t allow her to work with me.
Damn it, Anna! I will kill Damian if he touches you. I swear!
“It’s the same result. I think her phone went off,” Arnold shared, turning to face me.
Her last message struck me harder than before. It felt like she was calling out for help.
“She said Damian is taking her somewhere. It can’t be at his place because Casey said he’s heading for a meeting. That means he’s hiding somewhere else in Wolf Blood,” I pointed out, trying to figure out where Damian was taking Anna to.
“I think he’s at a hotel,” Jeremy responded, giving me a lead.
He told me that the guard who drove Anna, came back a few minutes ago and told him what Anna had said before following Damian’s vehicle.
“Not sure of which one, but it’s definitely a hotel.” He stood on his words.
Hearing this, I turned to face Arnold and demanded from my Beta, “Get out the names of all the hotels Damian has been to in Wolf Blood.”
“Right away.” Arnold switched from his first task and began to fish out the names and locations of all the hotels we have seen the Alpha visiting, when he’s being all sneaky.
I’m really worried about that stubborn woman. What if the infection kicks in while she’s standing before Damian?!
“No,” I groaned, wiping that thought out of my head.
To focus fully on this problem, I ended the call with Jeremy and ordered my guard to drive faster to Wolf Blood pack. “We don’t have time.”
“Don’t work yourself out too much. I’m sure she can deal with that man. You need to trust her.”
“I do. I’m just… I’m just worried, Arnold. You know what her condition is like. What if… No.” I swayed my head, refusing to picture my Anna in bed with Damian.
“I can’t help it. We need to get there as soon as possible,” I said, turning to look at the system in Arnold’s hold.
The first hotel on our list came popping up, along with the number of minutes left before we get there.
“She’ll be fine,” My Beta assured me, placing his hand on my shoulder with a smile creeping on his face.
He’s trying to calm my racing heart, but his hands are shaking. Arnold is hiding his own fear from me.
We’re both worried about Anna.
Minutes later, we were driving into Wolf Blood pack when suddenly, I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket.
Before I could reach for it and see who was calling, it stopped ringing.
“Who’s calling?” I asked, pulling the handset out of my pocket, just to see Anna’s name on the screen!
“Anna?!” I called, sitting up properly!
“She just called you?” Arnold asked, sitting up as well.
I didn’t answer him but tried to call Anna’s line back. But it wasn’t ringing. Her line was unreachable!
“No, not now!” I groaned, trying again.
That’s when Arnold heard his phone ringing and pulled it out from his pocket to check.
“She’s calling!” He alerted me immediately.
“Answer it!” I ordered, putting all my focus on my Beta.
But when he answered Anna’s line, we couldn’t hear anything. Her line was unreachable again!
“FUCK!” I sparked out and tried to contact Anna from my side. Still, it was the same result.
“Her number is going through. I’ll track it down before it goes off again,” Arnold planned, getting down to work.
I decided to wait and see if Anna would call me back, since I’m unable to get through to her. But as I waited and waited, my patience began to run out.
Just then… “I found her location!”
“Where?!” I asked my Beta, turning to face the screen.
“It’s located forty five minutes away from us,” Arnold said, taking a pic with his phone.
The moment he did that, Anna’s location disappeared from the system. Her line went off like we suspected.
This on and off game began to trouble my heart. I have no other means of communicating with her except for our phones. Who knows what kind of trouble she’s in.
“Anna… What is happening over there?” I asked worriedly, feeling my heart pounding really fast.
Arnold mentioned the name of the street he picked Anna’s line and began to direct the guard according to the map.
When he did that, my phone began to ring again.
I thought it was Anna and hurriedly answered it without looking at the screen.
“Anna!”
“No, Alpha it’s me.”
“Jeremy?” It was him.
I thought he was calling to know if I’d seen Anna yet, but what he shared next got my emotion spinning.
“Alpha, I just spoke with Anna. She said she got the bottles from Damian.”
“She did?” I was astonished to hear this news.
I turned to face my Beta, who looked really proud of the report Jeremy just shared with us.
“She actually pulled it off and escaped Damian? Anna… You really did it!” I smiled, feeling pride taking over me.
That’s my girl. She succeeded.
“She said you should come down to a place called All Fits Gym in Wolf Blood pack.”
“That place is right at the spot where she called us from. That means Anna is there!” Arnold pointed out, showing me the screen.
On the map, there was a gym right beside her present location. My Anna is there waiting for me.
“Yes, she’s there… But I don’t think she’ll be there for long.”
“What do you mean by that?” I asked, wondering why he made that statement.
Only for him to reveal Anna’s current state to us. “Alpha, Anna is at her last stage.”
My heart skipped. I felt the hair on my skin rising.
“The fear in her voice said it all. She doesn’t have much time. She… She needs you.”
“Anna.” My memory flashed to her behavior at the bathroom with me. She was acting really scary, just like that young lady who died at the lab.
“She said she hid the drugs in a brown bag and placed it in a trash bin beside the gym. She wants us to get hold of it before anything happens,” Jeremy shared, talking about the substance.
Arnold assured him that we’d get the drugs, but all that didn’t matter right now.
My Anna… Not now. Not now!!
“If you can get there fast, there’s a chance you might catch up with her before she loses herself. I’m coming down to Wolf Blood to help out too.”
“Alright Jeremy. Be… Be fast,” I stammered, feeling my hand shaking.
The phone almost fell out of my hand, but my Beta was quick to catch it, ending the call on my behalf.
“Alpha,” My Beta called, sensing my fear.
I had to hide it by ordering the guard to apply more speed to the engine and get us there quickly.
“Okay, Alpha.”
Arnold and I sat there quietly. He didn’t even bother to ask if I was okay after seeing my mood. He knows the state of my heart already.
“Anna, please stay strong. Please try and hold it in. I’m coming,” I begged within, wishing I could just see her right now and… Wait, what’s that scent?
Where I sat, I could pick a familiar scent streaming in the air from ahead.
The aroma made my body tingle with desire as it filled the air, getting stronger and stronger!
Only one person smells like this. That’s the only person that drives my body crazy. Could it be that she’s here?
“Stop the car!” I ordered my guard at once.
Arnold wondered why I stopped the guard instead of driving ahead. “Alpha, we need to go now. She’s waiting,” My Beta said, reminding me of Anastasia.
But I can’t deny the scent I’m picking. This belongs to my Anna.
Just as I was about to ask myself if this was indeed real, something caught mine and Arnold’s attention from the side of a building, along a pathway.
“Is… Is that a werewolf?” My Beta asked, spotting a black fur wolf dragging something into a dark alley.
Indeed it was a werewolf in the open, dragging whatever was underneath it’s body, into the darkness.
It felt abnormal for someone to be in that form at such an hour. It just didn’t feel right until I saw what this wolf was actually dragging away!
“Crap, that’s a person!” I realized when the fellow, a man, lifted his head and began to scream out at the sight of the werewolf pulling him.
“Shit!” Arnold reacted, reaching for his gun to do something.
But the Wolf’s action wasn’t the main thing that caught my attention. The scent I was picking was coming from this beast!
That wolf… Is that Anastasia?!
“Now that he’s a freaky Mafia, that asshole has turned his pack into an open ground for hooligans to do whatever they like!” My Beta growled, lifting his gun to aim at the werewolf.
When I saw this, I grabbed his hand quickly and yelled, “DON’T! THAT’S ANNA!”
“What?” Arnold gazed out in shock.
“That wolf is Anastasia!” I repeated, getting out of the car to prove it.
“Alpha, wait!” He yelled out to me, but I didn’t listen. I ran towards that spot and got a better view of the poor man who was screaming out for help. But the wolf was now hidden perfectly well in the dark.
To save that poor fellow from vanishing for good, I yelled out loudly, calling her name, “ANNA!”
And the moment I did that, her eyes glowed in the dark, flashing right at me.
“No way,” Arnold reacted, standing next to me in astonishment.
She’s the one. I can feel it.
That’s my Anastasia!
