Chapter 356: How Did She End Up Here?

Book:Fist of Healing Published:2025-4-10

The members of the Axe, looking vigilant, surrounded Rex as they exited the building and headed straight for the convoy parked at the back door.
The recent gunfire and chaos had alarmed everyone in the clubhouse, creating a scene of confusion with people crowding both the lobby and the front entrance.
Leaving through the front door now would make it easy for assassins to blend in and attack.
Compared to his tense and alert subordinates, Rex appeared much more composed. He walked slowly, cigar in mouth, as if the night’s attack had nothing to do with him.
He had witnessed too much bloodshed and experienced too many life-and-death situations to be fazed by this scene.
More than thirty people escorted Rex downstairs, through the corridor, towards the back door where a convoy was already waiting with doors open.
Outside, police sirens could be heard approaching, giving some relief to the Axe members. Even the most brazen assassins wouldn’t dare to engage in a shootout with the police.
Suddenly, a van sped out from one end of the street, heading straight for Rex and his convoy with a loud roar.
In an instinctive reaction, over ten bodyguards opened fire while trying to dodge, but the van hit the last car in line with a full throttle.
The impact was powerful enough to make the vehicle tremble. The van then lost control, climbed onto the steps, crashed into a pillar, and finally overturned against a wall.
As Rex stood coldly on the steps watching with his cigar in his mouth, over twenty bodyguards fired relentlessly at the van.
Everyone knew that whoever charged at them at this moment was certainly not a friend. In critical times like these, it was better to kill than let go.
Twenty-three guns spewed bullets wildly, turning the van into a wreck.
But when the Axe member kicked open the van’s door, they found no one in the driver’s seat. The accelerator and steering wheel were locked in place.
As he peeked inside, he spotted a small gas canister.
When he opened the door earlier, a cork was pulled out, releasing gas from the canister.
His face changed drastically as he saw a flicker of red flame near the canister.
Before he could instinctively shout “duck”, there was an explosive blast from the gas canister.
The explosion was deafening like a mountain collapsing. A massive fireball shot into the sky, shaking trees violently as if in an earthquake. Three Axe members were killed instantly, their bodies mangled on the ground.
Six nearby companions managed to dive for cover but were still thrown two or three meters by the blast wave. One of them got his arm cut by flying car debris.
His skin was blackened by smoke, and his body was covered in wounds with blood flowing freely. He lay on the ground groaning uncontrollably.
“Damn!”
Rex ducked behind a pillar just in time. He peeked out to see three of his men dead and one injured and felt furious.
He had hundreds of desperadoes under his command but only trusted a few completely. Each one was precious to him. Losing three and injuring one stirred up murderous intent within him.
As the aftermath of the explosion lingered, six masked individuals emerged from both ends of the street wielding shotguns as they swiftly approached Rex.
Their speed and sharp eyes made the Axe members feel an imminent threat.
“Kill them!”
Rex shouted fiercely as his men snapped out of their daze from being stunned by the explosion. They instinctively raised their guns but were half a beat slower than their masked adversaries who fired mercilessly.
Five Axe members fell dead instantly amidst splattered blood.
The masked men stepped forward swiftly using five corpses as shields while firing again at their enemies.
After another round of gunfire, three more Axe members lay dead on the ground.
At the same time, three figures burst forth from the other end of the street, all wielding dual pistols, firing at the Axe members from behind.
Several bodyguards, caught off guard, were shot in the back and fell to the ground with groans.
This was clearly a meticulously planned assassination. Whether it was the attack within the clubhouse or the ambush at the back door, every aspect had been calculated by the killers.
Every detail was executed flawlessly, and they had played the psychological game to perfection.
In many people’s minds, after a thrilling assassination attempt, they often mistakenly believed that the danger had passed.
They thought they had survived the crisis, and with the sound of police sirens approaching, their vigilance inevitably waned. No one would expect the threat to resurface.
Rex exhaled a plume of smoke, retreating behind a pillar.
These killers were far too ruthless and fearless.
With the Axe members rushing in to provide support, even if these killers managed to kill Rex, they were highly likely to be gunned down.
Yet, in such a life-and-death situation, they still launched their attack without hesitation. This could only indicate that they were either incredibly foolish or indifferent to their own lives.
Rex avoided direct confrontation with his enemies., waiting for the right moment.
“Bang bang bang!”
At that moment, nine deafening shots rang out, with countless debris and bullets exploding on the ground or on the vehicles.
The ground and car bodies were torn apart like a soft cake, shredded into countless pieces that floated in the air, creating a scene of carnage.
Nine masked men, nine guns, and the barrels whirled terrifyingly as a dense barrage of bullets shot toward the Axe members.
Countless pieces of concrete and splintered wood were sent flying as if whipped up by a hurricane, scattering in the air and being struck by subsequent bullets.
The scene was incredibly shocking.
Seeing Rex and the Axe members taking cover behind the cars and pillars and more Axe members closed in on both sides, the nine killers shifted their formation-two advanced to shoot at Rex, three suppressed the remaining bodyguards, and four turned to fire at those surrounding them.
The gunfire merged into a singular sound, thunderous and startling.
Rex felt the pillar vibrating as if it might shatter under the barrage of bullets, while the killers slowly closed in.
Rex exhaled another puff of smoke and grasped the long-neglected axe in his hand, a surge of combat spirit slowly building within him.
“Bang!”
At that moment, a woman in black burst out of the clubhouse, bending low and crashing into the nearby pillar.
The force of her impact was immense, creating a deafening crash as debris flew and dust billowed.
Every fragment reflected a dazzling light, momentarily blinding the approaching killers.
Rex, initially ready to attack, paused when he recognized the woman, taken aback as he hadn’t expected her to show up.
Then, relief washed over him. She was here, so tonight, he would be safe.
At that moment, the woman’s eyes sparkled with a brighter intensity than the gunfire itself. As the debris rained down upon the enemies, she swiftly waved her left hand.
“Whoosh!”
A throwing knife shot out, embedding itself in the chest of one killer.
“Thud!”
The man had barely dodged the falling debris when the knife pierced through him with overwhelming force.
A torrent of blood gushed from his front and back, staining the surrounding floor.
The woman in black didn’t pause for a moment. Her left hand flicked again, sending another small knife flying.
“Whoosh!”
Another knife struck another killer in the right chest, blood splattering dramatically.
The killer fell, yet his expression remained vacant.
With two kills in quick succession, the woman instantly solved Rex’s crisis.
Next, she kicked up two guns, gripping them tightly as she stepped forward.
She faced the incoming killers as if she wasn’t afraid of death, continuously pulling the triggers.
“Bang bang bang!”
The screeching bullets sank into the bodies of the killers, blood erupting continuously.
Two bullets struck the woman as well, but her gaze remained unwavering, cold, and sharp.
Another killer dropped to the ground.
“Bang bang bang!”
Seeing the woman in black fight so fiercely, the previously suppressed Axe members also rose, firing bullets and axes at the remaining killers.
Soon, all nine assassins were wiped out.
Not far away, on the rooftop, Darnell turned to Cesar and said, “Tell Martin to cancel the remaining operations.”
“Damn! How did Kimberly end up here?”
