Hearing the warning on the phone, Rex hesitated for a moment, then instructed his men decisively. “Let’s go!”
Logically, Rex shouldn’t have trusted the caller, but for some reason, he was willing to take the risk this time.
A dozen bodyguards drew their weapons and quickly surrounded Rex as they headed for the door. A few of them pulled out their phones to call for backup.
Having followed Rex for years, they could easily sense danger from his tone.
“Bang!”
Just then, the door was suddenly pushed open, revealing a food cart and a woman dressed in a server’s uniform.
She stared blankly at the group, her skin slightly tanned but with an attractive figure. The way she maneuvered the cart accentuated her curves, making her look striking.
Her expression was one of surprise as if she hadn’t expected Rex to leave so soon.
No words were needed. The mutual hostility was palpable.
“Swish!”
Before she could react, Rex spat out the cigarette butt, sending it arcing through the air, striking the server’s face before she could react.
“Hiss-”
The server instinctively jerked her head to shake off the burning embers. At that moment, Rex took a few steps back, distancing himself from this dangerous woman.
He hesitated to attack, wary that she might be a human bomb. Anyone bold enough to try to kill him had to be a desperate one.
“Crash!”
Just a second later, the server suddenly pushed the food cart forward with all her might, simultaneously raising two guns, aiming straight at Rex.
One of the Axe members reacted swiftly, kicking the cart aside and bravely standing in front of Rex.
The dull sound of gunfire erupted, and bang! The man fell to the ground, shot in the head.
Blood splattered across Rex’s torso, but he didn’t flinch. He remained calm and continued to retreat.
“Whoosh!”
As the members of the Axe collapsed, the remaining bodyguards opened fire on the female server. Dozens of bullets ruthlessly tore toward her.
At this distance, she had no chance to evade, forced to watch as the bullets struck her.
Her body oozed blood as she staggered backward.
Tripping over the cart, she fell heavily to the ground, and in her final moments, she attempted to fire one last shot, only to see an axe come flying toward her.
The sharp axe cleanly severed her hand that held the gun, blood spraying out dramatically.
As the female server’s eyes widened in death, footsteps and the sound of gun bolts being pulled back echoed chaotically from outside.
They filled Rex’s heightened senses with a sense of urgency.
“Bang!”
At that moment, four more servers charged in, looking fierce. Out of the corner of Rex’s eye, he caught a glimpse of the cold glint of firearms.
Upon seeing the blood and bodies in the room, the four servers immediately drew their guns, their previously friendly smiles now twisted into grimaces.
Over a dozen Axe members raised their weapons as well.
Without hesitation, Rex leaped towards the large sofa just two meters away.
Silenced gunfire erupted as both sides pulled their triggers.
The blinding lights flickered, and bullets whizzed past Rex’s ears. He felt electric shocks of pain in various spots on his back.
Ignoring his injuries, Rex rolled on the ground using the momentum from his leap.
“Bang bang bang!”
Both sides exchanged fire without hesitation, bullets embedding themselves in cover and flesh.
Smoke filled the air, and blood flowed like rivers.
Three Axe members dropped to the ground, shot, while four killers suffered two dead and two wounded, but neither side ceased fire, relentlessly hurling bullets.
Amidst the gunfire, two members of the Axe hurled their axes, the blades gleaming in the light!
Their axes were just as deadly as the bullets.
“Ah!”
Two horrifying screams rang out as the axes struck the chests of the injured servers, staining the floor with crimson.
But before the Axe could celebrate, three more figures burst through the door, guns raised, firing at the members of the Axe and hitting one in the forehead.
Seeing more enemies pouring in, the remaining members of the Axe fired again, hitting three killers in their hands and feet, preventing them from charging into the room.
The three injured killers, using their last bit of strength, aimed their guns at Rex, firing wildly.
Bullets flew, slamming into the coffee table and sofa.
Though Rex had sought refuge behind the thick sofa, he still felt the lethal energy of the bullets.
The three killers fired five more shots, two bullets grazing Rex’s arm, while one struck his back, nearly causing him to spit blood.
Yet, none of this posed any threat to his life. Ever since the Axe had been at war with the Apex, Rex had always worn a bulletproof vest.
After firing those five shots, the three fearless killers had no more chances to kill Rex.
The Axe members seized the opportunity and shot them down, rendering them unable to fight back.
Then, their comrades flooded in from outside, rushing forward to subdue the remaining two killers, disarming them.
Three guns were pointed at their heads.
“Whoosh whoosh whoosh!”
Next, three axes fell in quick succession, severing the killers’ hands and leaving them completely defenseless.
“Who are you?”
As the three screamed in agony, one member of the Axe stepped on one of them, his axe dripping with fresh blood.
The subdued killer remained silent, refusing to answer. The Axe member wasted no time, swinging his axe down, cleanly severing the man’s neck.
He then placed the axe at the throat of the second killer. “Speak! Who sent you?”
The second one, tough as nails, closed his eyes and refused to respond.
He didn’t waste any more words and swung his axe again. Looking at the third killer, he couldn’t be bothered to ask again and brought the axe down.
Just as it struck, the killer managed to utter his last words, “I’ll tell you-”
Then his head tilted, and he died in frustration.
“Boss, are you okay?”
The Axe members struck the slain killers with a few more axes, making sure they were all dead, then split into three groups-one to guard the entrance, one to call for backup, and one to check Rex’s injuries.
“I’m fine!”
Rex glanced at the bloody scene, his expression unchanged, then lit a cigar, kicking a few corpses as he muttered, “Find out where they came from and kill their entire family.”
Faced with the killers’ reckless attack, Rex showed no fear or anxiety. Instead, he felt a strange thrill.
He had always enjoyed skirting the edge of death, and years of living in luxury had begun to bore him. Encountering a formidable opponent today brought him joy.
However, as he thought of the phone call, a glint of intrigue appeared in Rex’s eyes. He couldn’t fathom why that person had warned him.
His confidant nodded, “Understood.”
“Leave a team to clean up the mess. The rest come back with me to headquarters.”
Rex exhaled a puff of smoke. “Gunfire will surely attract the police.”
Meanwhile, Darnell was enjoying hot pot on the street next to Kingslanding Clubhouse with Cesar and the others.
After letting Valentin go, Darnell took a car and arrived at this location.
Cesar and the others had arrived half an hour earlier, securing a great vantage point and preparing the hot pot.
As gunfire erupted on the neighboring street, the hot pot began to boil, filling the night air with a delicious aroma.
Cesar took Darnell’s bowl, carefully ladling three scoops of chicken broth and adding the fattiest chicken leg for Darnell.
“Boss, have a taste. I ordered it just for you.”
Darnell didn’t hold back, sipping the soup before biting into the chicken leg, savoring the taste.
After a long night, he was hungry, finishing the chicken leg in just a few bites. He then looked at Cesar and smiled.
“You actually saved me a chicken leg? I thought you’d just give me the chicken neck and chicken head.”
Cesar flashed his golden tooth. “You’re our boss. Of course, we have to save the best for you!”
He patted his chest and declared, “Even if there were only one chicken leg left in the world, it would be yours, boss.”
The others nodded in agreement, “Yes!”
“I’m glad you have a conscience.”
Darnell smiled faintly, then checked his phone. “What’s the situation now?”
Harry, still on the phone, whispered, “Rex discovered something amiss and left early. Their deployment was insufficient, and there weren’t enough personnel. The first round failed.”
Darnell lifted his chicken soup and blew on it. “Tell Martin, the second round begins.”
