Clara curiously asked, “How much is that?”
Ethan replied, “After deducting social insurance and housing fund… five thousand dollars.”
That was quite good.
Though five thousand dollars was a small sum, she felt it necessary to get paid however trivial her job was.
Seeing Clara silent, Ethan raised an eyebrow, “What? Is it too little?”
Clara paused for a moment and shook her head, “No.”
Honestly… if every workday was like today, she’d feel quite guilty about taking those five thousand dollars.
Today, she had only made Ethan a cup of tea.
Making a cup of tea every day and then earning five thousand dollars a month with social insurance and housing fund… this job would be highly sought after by many outside.
Seeing Clara had no other questions, Ethan embraced Clara and pressed her onto the bed.
Clara blinked, looking at Ethan in surprise.
Did Ethan want to do it again?
But hadn’t they already done it in the office this morning?
And now again…
How could he have so much energy in one day?
She had seen him at the company, clearly very busy, handling so much work every day… although it might not be physically exhausting, it was all mental labor… wasn’t mental labor more tiring than physical labor?
Could it be… the company’s work hadn’t drained Ethan’s energy?
While Clara was being tossed around, she wondered… why did Ethan have such good stamina?
Could he be an indefatigable robot?
When Clara arrived at the company and entered the secretary’s office, all the secretaries were already there.
Ethan arrived, and the secretaries and assistants followed him into his office. They reported the day’s work to Ethan… Clara stood by listening.
After the report, the secretaries and assistants left, and Clara followed them out.
Back in the secretary’s office, Alayna and Hanna started working.
Meanwhile, Stephanie… actually took out a curling iron and began curling her hair.
Clara watched Stephanie…
Really… she had reasons to think Stephanie had an affair with Ethan.
Alayna, Hanna, and Stephanie were all secretaries.
But Alayna and Hanna were busy working… while Stephanie, yesterday doing her nails, today curling her hair… Clara couldn’t help but think Stephanie was Ethan’s kept secretary, placed beside him as a cover for convenience in engaging in indiscreet activities with Stephanie.
Stephanie noticed Clara staring at her and smiled, “Madam… would you like to curl your hair?”
Clara paused for a moment and shook her head, “No need.”
Stephanie continued curling her hair while smiling, “Madam has a pure and cute look; straight hair suits you better.”
Clara: “Thank you.”
Since she was complimented as pure and cute, she felt she should say thank you.
Just… her feelings were a bit complicated.
What did Ethan mean?
Arranging her and Stephanie in the same secretary’s office… was he being open-hearted without any secrets? Or… did he simply not fear her knowing about him and Stephanie?
Clara felt… Ethan probably wasn’t afraid.
Because what difference did it make if she knew?
Even if she knew Stephanie was Ethan’s kept secretary, she wouldn’t dare do anything to Ethan.
Sigh…
Clara sighed inwardly; as the legitimate wife… she felt truly pathetic! Wives as pathetic as her… probably weren’t many. Or perhaps… just her alone?
Stephanie was a very enthusiastic and proactive woman who kept chatting with Clara.
“Madam… when do you plan to have children with Mr. Logan?” Stephanie asked with a smile.
She was simply curious and gossipy.
She wanted to know.
She looked at Stephanie; was this probing enemy intelligence?
“I’ll consider having children after I graduate,” Clara said.
Stephanie paused for a moment and asked in confusion, “So late?”
Was it bad for her to have children late?
If she had children late, Stephanie might gain status through her child.
“Madam…” Stephanie slid her chair over to Clara and whispered, “I think… you should have children sooner.”
“… Ah?” Clara looked at Stephanie in surprise.
Stephanie whispered, “Madam, having children sooner is better for both you and Mr. Logan.”
“Why?” Clara asked in confusion.
“Madam… think about it; in this generation of the Logan family, there are only Mr. Azaria and our Mr. Logan as grandsons… Mr. Azaria only has a daughter now. I’ve heard they’re trying hard for a son,” Stephanie said with a gossipy look.
She hadn’t paid attention to that.
Honestly, psychologically speaking, she hadn’t considered herself part of the Logan family… she always thought that Ethan could abandon her at any time, so she was indifferent to the Logan family’s affairs.
At most, she cared about Ethan’s matters; other people’s affairs… like Azaria’s couple’s matters, she never paid attention to them.
She had been married to Ethan for some time but hadn’t spoken a word to them. At most, they greeted each other.
“Madam, let me tell you; elderly people love children… if you give birth to the first grandson of this generation of the Logan family… imagine how happy old Mr. Logan would be? In his joy, he might give out rewards generously… having a son would greatly help Mr. Logan in future inheritance battles,” Stephanie said.
Clara looked at Stephanie.
Was this truly for her and Ethan’s sake?
Stephanie indeed had genuine intentions for Ethan and Clara; she was Ethan’s secretary, naturally part of Ethan’s faction… although Ethan is currently vice president, barring any surprises, he will inherit the position of president of Logan Group in the future.
However… until Mr. Logan secures that position, anything could happen…
If Ethan succeeds in future inheritance battles… they would benefit greatly too.
If Ethan fails in the future, as Ethan’s secretaries and part of his faction, they wouldn’t have a good ending either; they might lose their jobs.
Stephanie quite liked her current job.
If possible, she’d like to work at Logan Group until retirement.
“Madam, you must seize the opportunity to have a son before Azaria’s couple,” Stephanie said.
Clara blushed awkwardly and looked at Stephanie, saying embarrassedly, “It’s not something I can just push for.”
Ethan had already decided not to have children for now; what could she do?
Should she force Ethan to have children?
Actually… she felt quite pressured too.
She knew that her father-in-law and mother-in-law thought like Stephanie; they wanted her to quickly give birth to the first grandson of this generation of the Logan family to gain an absolute advantage in inheritance battles… Grace had previously mentioned taking her for a health check-up to prepare for pregnancy.
The Everett family also hoped she’d get pregnant to solidify her position and strengthen the relationship between the Everett family and Ethan… like her, they were uneasy… worried that Ethan might abandon her at any time.
But… no matter how many people wanted her to get pregnant and have children, as long as Ethan didn’t want her to have them, there was nothing she could do; she couldn’t have them.
She didn’t know what Ethan meant either.
Saying they’d wait until she graduated to have children… could this be his excuse?
He should be well aware that having children before Azaria’s couple would be detrimental to him…
Stephanie paused for a moment and asked, “Could it be… Mr. Logan isn’t capable?”
After speaking, Stephanie covered her mouth in disbelief while looking at Clara… no way? Mr. Logan wasn’t capable? It didn’t seem like it.
Clara blushed and looked at Stephanie in surprise; how could Stephanie think that?
How could she assume Ethan wasn’t capable?
Moreover… wouldn’t Stephanie know whether Ethan was capable? Hadn’t she been intimate with Ethan?
“You… don’t know?” Clara asked back.
Stephanie: “What should I know?”
Clara: “… Nothing.”
