“Don’t believe me?” Ethan asked, noticing Clara’s disbelief.
Clara nodded, “I don’t.”
Ethan gave Clara a slight smile and said, “Someday… you’ll believe.”
After saying that, he turned and walked away.
Clara watched Ethan’s back with confusion. What did he mean by that? What did he mean by saying she would believe someday? She couldn’t quite grasp the meaning behind his words. Did it mean she would have to ask other men in the future? Ask them if they wanted to conquer their women in their offices? She wasn’t that kind of person. How could she randomly ask other men such questions? If she really did ask other men such questions, who knows what they would think of her.
Seeing Ethan about to enter the elevator, Clara quickly followed him, and they both entered the elevator. The elevator was empty. It was a high-level elevator, essentially reserved for the Logan family. Now, it was just Ethan and Clara inside.
Ethan glanced at Clara. She looked at him with confusion. Why was he suddenly looking at her? Whenever he looked at someone, it always seemed to carry a deeper meaning, making the person feel uneasy.
“Do you know?” Ethan spoke.
“… Huh?” Clara looked at Ethan with confusion. This man was becoming more and more inexplicable. What was she supposed to know? He asked her out of the blue if she knew something. Without saying anything, how was she supposed to know what he was talking about or if she knew it?
“Actually… it can be done in the elevator too,” Ethan said.
Clara still didn’t understand and looked at Ethan with confusion, “Can do what?”
Ethan looked at Clara. The young girl had a bewildered expression. It seemed she truly didn’t understand, not pretending to be clueless.
“It can be done… like this…” Ethan suddenly turned around and pressed Clara against the elevator wall.
Clara’s eyes widened in shock as she looked at Ethan. She understood now. She understood what Ethan meant. She recalled some rather embarrassing novels she had read before, which included scenes in elevators. At the time, she was amazed by how bold those stories were. Elevators were places where people could come and go at any time; how could anyone actually do it in an elevator…
Now… Feeling Ethan’s hard-on, she was almost scared to tears… It turned out… there really were people this bold! Someone really wanted to do something in an elevator.
Clara blushed and tightened her body, not daring to move. She feared that if she moved even a little, Ethan might take her in the elevator… If someone saw them, that would be too embarrassed.
Ethan looked down at Clara; the young girl was tense, her face and breathing taut…
Was she that scared? Did she really think he was an animal in heat without regard for time or place? Did she think he was some kind of deviant?
Ethan chuckled softly, stood up straight, turned around, and faced away from Clara.
Only then did Clara dare to quietly let out a long breath…
Ethan was really too bad. And too frightening. She had truly been afraid that Ethan would do something in the elevator just now. It was terrifying! In the future, she’d better not provoke Ethan casually. Otherwise… who knows what crazy things he might do.
The elevator arrived, and Clara followed Ethan out of it. It was after work hours, and many people were leaving the lobby… Passersby still occasionally turned their heads to secretly glance at Clara.
Clara and Ethan returned home.
June smiled and asked Clara, “Clara, how was your first day at work?”
Clara replied, “… It was fine.”
She said this against her true feelings. Actually… it wasn’t fine at all. In the morning, Ethan had pressed her against his desk for some mischief, then she began doubting Ethan’s affair with Stephanie… Anyway, the day hadn’t gone well.
Ethan looked at Clara and said lightly, “In the morning you did your nails, then took a nap until three or four in the afternoon, played on your phone for a while, and then got off work… Of course it was fine.”
Clara blushed and looked at Ethan. Was he mocking her? Mocking her for not doing much work all day? But it wasn’t like she didn’t want to work. It was Ethan who didn’t assign her any tasks. Besides… it was Ethan himself who said that all she needed to do at the company was serve him tea.
She had indeed served him tea.
June looked at Clara and laughed.
Clara’s face turned even redder as she said to Ethan, “I made you tea.”
“Yes,” Ethan nodded, “You made me a cup of tea. That’s your entire workload for the day.”
Ethan said, “Your workload is quite large.”
Clara looked at Ethan with frustration on her red face. This jerk. What did he mean by that? Clearly he had said that all she had to do at his company was serve tea, yet now he was here mocking her for having an easy job?
Only now did she realize… how two-faced Ethan could be.
Clara lowered her head to eat and ignored Ethan.
Ethan watched Clara angrily shovel food into her mouth and smiled gently…
This young girl was becoming more interesting to tease.
She was just too adorable.
How had he not noticed it before?
After dinner, Clara went back to her room to shower. After showering, she sat at her vanity table for skincare… As she applied her products, she noticed the perfume next to her face cream… Seeing the perfume reminded her of something from earlier that afternoon when she followed Ethan after work and secretly smelled his scent… It turned out that the fragrance on Ethan was from her own perfume.
So… did it rub off while they were sleeping together?
So… it seemed Ethan didn’t have a lover.
Clara quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
She felt… she should trust Ethan.
Ethan probably didn’t have a lover.
Even someone as beautiful as Nora wasn’t appealing to him; there was no way he would keep any other woman as his lover.
Moreover, since marrying her, Ethan came home every night to sleep; he never stayed out all night…
Thinking this way made Clara’s mood inexplicably better; she hummed a little tune while applying cream and shook her head.
Ethan watched Clara humming and shaking her head.
She had her hair tied up in a bun; the little bun bobbed up and down… particularly cute.
Why did her mood suddenly improve?
She had been angry during dinner and seemed uninterested in talking to him before showering.
But after showering and doing skincare, her mood improved?
Could it be that seeing herself in the mirror made her happy because she thought she looked cute?
Women’s thoughts were really hard to fathom.
Ethan went to shower.
After showering, he came out to find Clara already sitting on the bed playing with her phone.
Hearing the door open, she looked up and saw Ethan coming out wearing shorts.
Clara blushed again.
Although they had been married for some time now and did what married couples do every night… she still felt shy.
It was just part of her nature.
Ethan glanced at Clara and knew she was embarrassed again.
Anyway… this young girl loved getting embarrassed easily.
He quite liked her shy demeanor.
Cute and adorable.
Recently, Ethan found himself frequently thinking about the word ‘cute.’
Clearly… in the past, he never thought about those words; he never found anything cute or anyone adorable…
But now… even a small expression from Clara seemed cute to him.
Ethan got into bed, and Clara suddenly asked, “Do I get paid?”
She had just remembered this out of the blue.
She was working at Ethan’s company during summer break; even if it was just serving tea as a helper… helpers should get paid too.
Ethan replied, “Yes.”
He was a businessman who spoke plainly… He wouldn’t shortchange his wife’s salary.
“How much?” Clara asked curiously.
Ethan asked back, “How much do you want?”
Asking her?
How much did she want?
Ha.
If she wanted ten or eighty thousand dollars, would he give it?
“I don’t know,” Clara admitted honestly.
Ethan looked at her and said, “Let’s go with the basic salary for newcomers at the company.”
