Chapter 83 Forced to Bear Children

Book:It All Turns Out Great Published:2025-4-9

Although Jason didn’t say it outright, she could sense something. But why… she didn’t want to think too deeply about it.
What’s the point of overthinking?
Besides, she wasn’t planning to do anything serious with Jason anyway.
Although they were currently boyfriend and girlfriend, she wasn’t blind… She could see very clearly if Jason loved her or not. If she really had to say what she liked about him, it was his wealth.
Actually, Jason’s family wasn’t incredibly rich.
But for her current situation, it was enough.
Jason and Belle could provide her with resources by spending money, allowing her to act… By now, she had officially entered the industry, and once she became famous, she would meet more wealthy individuals, and many rich aspirants would pursue her.
For now, Jason was just a stepping stone for her.
Jason was using her.
But she was doing the same to Jason.
As for her relationship with Clara… In the past, they weren’t particularly close or distant. They were just roommates… Maintaining a superficial camaraderie, since they were from ordinary families, while Clara was from a wealthy family. They rarely had common topics or similar spending habits… They were fundamentally different people, so how could their relationship be anything but estranged?
“Let’s go,” Ella said with a smile.
Jason nodded.
That evening, when Clara returned home after school, it was only a little past five, so it was still early.
The Logan family members who worked were not back yet.
But… Grace was at home.
As soon as Clara entered the living room, she saw Grace sitting on the sofa.
“Mom…” Clara greeted her.
She was actually a bit afraid of Grace.
She knew that Grace didn’t like her, so whenever Grace faced her, she always wore a cold expression, showing disdain…
Grace nodded slightly and said to Clara, “Sit down, I need to ask you something.”
She sat down, looking at Grace with some curiosity as to what Grace might want to ask her… Usually, at home, Grace treated her as if she were invisible.
Apart from giving her the cold shoulder, Grace rarely spoke to her, and even less often gave her a glance.
“You and Ethan have been married for some time now,” Grace said.
They had only been married for a month and a bit.
“Are you pregnant?” Grace asked.
Clara was stunned, looking at Grace in surprise.
What was she talking about?
Pregnant?
“I… am not.” Clara blushed and replied.
Her period had just ended.
Grace frowned, looking at Clara with dissatisfaction. “You’ve been married for so long and you’re not pregnant yet? Could there be something wrong with your health?”
She didn’t know how to respond.
Was a month and a bit even considered a long time in marriage?
Of course, not being pregnant after a month and a bit was pretty normal, right?
Moreover… she had never even thought about having a baby.
Her relationship with Ethan was uncertain, and although he seemed to treat her well now… who knew what the future held? Plus, she was still in school, so she had never considered getting pregnant.
She… had never thought in that direction.
Now, with Grace bringing it up, she suddenly realized… they frequently engaged in that kind of activity… and she hadn’t been using any protection. It was actually quite likely that she could get pregnant.
Fortunately, she hadn’t, so… from now on, she should use protection.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Grace asked, frowning with dissatisfaction.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t talking.
She just didn’t know how to respond.
After some thought, Clara said, “Mom… I’ll try.”
She said this, but… in reality, she didn’t actually want to get pregnant at all.
She was just humoring Grace.
Grace looked at Clara and said, “If there’s something wrong with your health, what use is trying?”
What was wrong with her health?
She had a very thorough annual health check-up.
Her body was in good condition, and all her organs were functioning properly.
There was nothing wrong with her.
“Tomorrow, I’ll take you to the hospital for a check-up,” Grace said, looking at Clara. “Ethan is the future head of Logan Group, you must bear his child as soon as possible.”
She found Grace somewhat contradictory.
On one hand, Grace didn’t like her and was dissatisfied with her… yet, on the other hand, she hoped that Clara would conceive Ethan’s child soon.
“… Oh,” Clara replied dutifully.
It was just a health check-up.
Since Grace requested it, she would go.
After all, her body was healthy, so she had nothing to fear from the check-up.
“Don’t eat breakfast tomorrow morning, come on an empty stomach,” Grace instructed.
Clara nodded, “I understand, Mom.”
Grace nodded and then left without saying more to Clara.
Clara blinked a few times.
She found her mother to be strange.
This sudden concern and pressure to have a child seemed completely out of the blue.
That night, Ethan was on top of Clara…
“Stop…” Clara pushed him away, blushing.
Ethan raised an eyebrow, looking at Clara. She had cooperated last night, but now she was refusing?
Was she playing hard to get?
Or was she up to something else?
Such a young girl, yet she had so many tricks.
Clara, blushing, explained to Ethan, “I have to get up early tomorrow to go to the hospital…”
Ethan asked, “Why go to the hospital?”
Clara blushed again, “… I haven’t gotten pregnant, and Mom suspects something is wrong with my body, so she wants to take me for a check-up.”
Ethan was taken aback, “Which mom?”
“Your mom,” Clara said.
Her own mother didn’t care whether she was pregnant or not.
Ethan asked, looking at Clara, “Do you want to get pregnant?”
Clara looked at Ethan, her face red.
Why did both mother and son enjoy asking questions that were hard to answer?
What should she say now?
Say yes?
What if Ethan decided to make her pregnant right away?
Say no?
But then Ethan might get angry. As his wife, having children and continuing his lineage was her duty and responsibility… so if she said she didn’t want to have his child, he would definitely get angry, wouldn’t he? Any man would.
“I am still young…” Clara said hesitantly, her face blushing, “I am still in school… I think… at least wait until I graduate before having children.”
Ethan looked at Clara.
Clara felt extremely uneasy under his gaze, feeling guilty… Could Ethan see through her thoughts?
Was Ethan angry?
Ethan nodded, “We don’t need to rush the pregnancy.”
Clara secretly let out a sigh of relief.
She really feared that Ethan would force her to have a child.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t know what to do.
Ethan then pressed down on her again.
“But I have to go tomorrow…” Clara tried to refuse.
“No need to go,” Ethan said in a rough voice, “We’re not planning to get pregnant soon anyway, so why go for a check-up?”
In the morning.
Clara was still sleeping.
Ethan got up, did a quick wash, and then went downstairs to exercise. After his morning workout, he found Grace in the living room and said, “You want to take Clara for a health check-up?”
Grace nodded and said, “To check if there’s anything wrong with her body. If there is, we should treat it promptly. Then she can start preparing for conception.”
Ethan said indifferently, “No need.”
Grace frowned, looking at Ethan. “No need for what?”
Ethan replied, “Her body is fine, there’s nothing wrong.”
Grace said with clear dissatisfaction, “Since there’s nothing wrong, why hasn’t she gotten pregnant yet?”
Ethan found it hard to understand Grace’s eagerness for Clara to become pregnant.
Was she just longing for a grandchild?
But didn’t she dislike Clara?
If she disliked Clara, how could she possibly like a child born to her?
He didn’t believe it.
Love and hate can extend to those in one’s surroundings.
“Not in a hurry,” Ethan said indifferently.
After saying that, Ethan left.
Grace frowned, looking at Ethan’s retreating back.
