If Ella took it, Clara wouldn’t be so restless.
“Why don’t you give her all the money?” Ethan asked.
Clara hesitated.
Clara paused for a moment.
“Yes.”
Why didn’t she give all the money to her sister?
It was all her sister’s stuff, so the money from selling it should go entirely to her sister.
Was it… that she subconsciously didn’t want to?
Didn’t want to give all the money to her sister?
Clara felt her face turn red with embarrassment.
Was she… too greedy?
Clara looked at Ethan with a reddened face, feeling embarrassed.
“Would you like… I transfer all the money to my sister now?”
“No need,” Ethan said. “Those were gifts I gave her. Since she gave them back to me, they’re mine now… and what’s mine is yours. You don’t have to give her a cent.”
He didn’t care about the money.
But… he didn’t want to give what he didn’t care about to Iris.
She looked at Ethan, if that was how he thought, then why did he say those words just now…
That was awkward.
“This… doesn’t seem right,” Clara said.
Ethan stared at her coldly and said, “This is my money. If you dare to secretly transfer it to Iris… I’ll deal with you.”
“You think carefully, why should my money go to Iris? What does she have that qualifies her? I’m already being merciful for not making her pay for her betrayal,” Ethan said.
Clara blinked, looking at Ethan with confusion: “Why should my sister pay you?”
Ethan: “My loss in reputation is worth it.”
Ethan continued, “If I really wanted to hold her accountable, for her to pay for the loss in my reputation, it could bankrupt the Everett family.”
“Rest assured,” Clara quickly assured Ethan, “I won’t transfer this money to my sister, not a cent.”
He was so casual about bankrupting the Everett family; how could she dare to defy him?
Ethan watched Clara’s determined face and let out a faint smirk… She was timid, intimidated by just a few words.
Adorably timid.
Clara had thought of contacting those who bought the items to refund and return them… she was even willing to pay extra to redeem them and return them to her sister.
But now, after Ethan’s intimidation, she didn’t dare to have such thoughts anymore.
Thinking about it, she felt that what Ethan said made sense.
These were all gifts Ethan had given her sister, and the reason he gave her sister gifts was that she was his fiancee… but since her sister betrayed Ethan, she no longer had the right to keep these things.
If it were her… finding out her boyfriend cheated on her on the day of their wedding. She thought… she would retaliate against that couple, making them pay for their actions. As for the things she once gave to her ex, she would demand each one back. She would rather throw them away, burn them, or toss them into the water than let her ex continue using them.
She felt that she could understand Ethan’s thoughts at this moment.
This money, indeed, shouldn’t be given to her sister, not a single cent.
She wouldn’t give her sister any.
Feeling guilty towards Ethan and being intimidated by his threat to bankrupt the Everett family… Clara was especially gentle and obedient that evening.
Whenever Ethan wanted something, she would do it.
Even when she was extremely tired, almost to the point of collapsing, she still forced herself to comply with Ethan, meeting all his demands.
Ethan was very pleased.
When they were done, he hugged Clara and said, “In a couple of days, go to the banquet with me.”
Clara: “… Okay.”
She was Ethan’s wife; accompanying him to social events was her duty and responsibility.
Ethan interacted with the men, while she socialized with the wives.
In the early morning, Clara woke up, completed her morning routine, and changed her clothes, then Ethan returned from his morning exercise.
Seeing Ethan all sweaty, Clara thought, Ethan’s stamina wasn’t for nothing… no matter the weather, he always went out for morning exercise every day.
It would be strange if his body wasn’t in good shape.
After Ethan finished his morning routine, Clara went downstairs with him to have breakfast.
After breakfast, Ethan went to work, and Clara went to school.
In class, Zoe whispered to her, “Clara, Ella also plans to move out of the dorm.”
Clara was taken aback.
Since moving out of the dorm, she and her former dormmates had hardly been in touch. In the past few days, she hadn’t seen Ella or Ava at all, only meeting Zoe in class.
“Her boyfriend rented a place for her, and she’s going to move in with Jason,” Zoe said.
Clara nodded, “Oh.”
She didn’t think Jason was a good person.
But Ella liked him.
She couldn’t go up to Ella and say that Jason was no good and try to convince them to break up. If she did, Ella would definitely hate her.
She thought Jason was no good, but Ella certainly saw Jason as great, rich, and handsome, and… willing to spend money on her.
Perhaps, in Ella’s eyes, Jason’s other flaws didn’t matter at all.
“I think she’s doing the wrong thing,” Zoe whispered, “Jason… doesn’t seem like a particularly reliable person. I’m worried Ella will get hurt.”
Clara replied, “She’s an adult now. This is her choice, and she knows what she wants.”
Ella wasn’t the kind of girl who was innocent and naive, knowing nothing.
Zoe was taken aback and didn’t speak further.
After class, Clara went to have lunch. After lunch and a short rest, she had over two hours before her afternoon classes, so she returned to Sycamore Apartments to rest.
Surprisingly, she met Ella and Jason downstairs.
Ella smiled, her hand intertwined with Jason’s, looking like a sweet and devoted couple.
Clara suddenly had a thought… Zoe said Ella was moving out to live with her boyfriend.
Could it be that they rented a place at Sycamore Apartments?
“Clara…” Ella saw Clara, smiled, and walked over with Jason.
“Clara,” Jason greeted her with a smile.
Clara nodded.
“Clara, from now on… we’ll be neighbors,” Ella said with a smile.
Clara: “… Neighbors?”
She pretended to be surprised.
Ella nodded with a smile, “Yes, I moved out… I’m in Building 2, Room 505. Clara, where are you?”
She felt it was too coincidental.
“Building 2, Room 606, right above you.”
She looked at Ella and Jason.
Could it be too coincidental?
But in the world, there were so many coincidences, weren’t there?
Many coincidences… were actually planned by someone with intention.
She guessed that Ella and Jason must have known she lived in Room 606, Building 2, so they deliberately rented the room below, Room 505.
What did they want to do?
Were they spying on her?
But what for?
They didn’t really have any grievances with her.
Was Jason unhappy with her because of Belle?
Did he still want to do something to her?
“Clara,” Ella said with a smile, “Isn’t that fate… see, there are tens of thousands of students at our school, and we ended up in the same dorm, and now our apartments are above and below each other… Clara, come to my new place for dinner tonight, I’ll cook.”
Clara smiled and said, “I’m afraid not, maybe another time. My husband has plans with me tonight.”
A hint of disappointment flashed across Ella’s face: “Oh…” She then asked, “What does your husband have planned?”
Clara looked at Ella.
She really wanted to retort: “What does it have to do with you what my husband and I have planned?”
If my husband and I are booking a hotel room, would you want to follow and take pictures?
“I’m not sure,” Clara smiled, “He didn’t say, being rather mysterious about it.”
“… Oh.” Ella was a bit disappointed.
She had intended to get information and tell Belle.
But Clara wasn’t willing to talk.
“Then I’ll head up. I’m tired and want to rest,” Clara said.
“Okay,” Ella resumed her cheerful demeanor.
Clara entered the elevator.
Jason looked at Ella and asked, “Your relationship with her… doesn’t seem very good?”
A flash of embarrassment crossed Ella’s face, “We used to get along well… but now that I’m close with Belle, maybe she’s upset with me.”
She didn’t want to admit that her relationship with Clara had soured.
She actually knew the reason Jason chose to be with her. It was largely because he wanted to get information about Clara from her.
