Chapter 70: Deleted

Is this still considered not being angry?
Who would believe that?
She’s not stupid. Can’t you tell if someone is angry or not?
“Then why haven’t you spoken to me or acknowledged me all week?” Clara asked.
Ethan glanced at Clara and said, “I don’t feel like talking to you.”
He had a somewhat spoiled expression.
That… hurt her pride.
He didn’t want to talk to her?
Was she that annoying?
Annoying enough for him to not want to talk to her?
Clara was angry.
She didn’t want to talk to him or acknowledge him anymore.
Meanwhile, Ethan was waiting for Clara to continue questioning him.
Little did he know, Clara turned over and faced away from him.
Completely ignoring him.
Ethan frowned.
What did she mean by that?
Was she unhappy?
So she didn’t want to talk to him anymore?
She had just initiated the conversation with him earlier.
Now… after only a few sentences, she stopped talking again.
This young girl’s temper… was getting bigger and bigger.
Would she dare to run away when she’s unhappy?
Would she dare to ignore him when she’s unhappy?
When they first got married, she was always careful and eager to please him.
How long has it been… and she has changed?
Has she become arrogant because he treated her too well?
Ethan snorted.
He had to be cold towards her, otherwise… she would become even more unruly.
Ethan continued discussing work with someone.
While Clara, with her back turned to him, was chatting on WhatsApp with someone.
It was Daniel who sent her a message on WhatsApp.
Daniel asked if she was free tomorrow and wanted to have dinner with her.
Clara was chatting with Daniel.
Clara did have some vague feelings for Daniel in the past, but after he went abroad for studies, they had less contact, and those vague feelings faded away. Now… she was already married to Ethan.
She treated Daniel as an older brother from the neighborhood.
Clara agreed to Daniel’s invitation.
To have dinner together.
Having dinner with an older brother from the neighborhood is normal.
Although Ethan was discussing work with someone, he also paid attention to Clara’s actions.
He heard the sound of her typing on the keyboard.
It was already late, who was she chatting with?
Ethan initially didn’t want to look… but in the end, he couldn’t resist his curiosity. He slightly turned his body to take a look.
Daniel?
Ethan remembered after a moment.
He was the man they met that day, Clara said he was her neighbor.
He sneered in his heart. What kind of neighbor chats late at night?
Ethan reached out and snatched Clara’s phone.
Clara was just holding it casually and it was taken away by Ethan in an instant.
She paused for a moment, turned over, and looked at Ethan in surprise. “What are you doing?”
She wanted to snatch her phone back, but Ethan waved his big hand and pushed her away.
What does he want to do?
Ethan looked at the chat history between Clara and Daniel.
It was just a normal conversation.
Just Daniel asking Clara out for dinner.
The wording and tone were all normal.
But… Ethan still sensed Daniel’s ulterior motives.
He was also a man, a normal man.
He wouldn’t randomly ask a woman out for dinner late at night on WhatsApp without any reason.
Daniel…
After thinking for a moment, Ethan remembered the encounter between Clara and Daniel that day. Their interaction seemed normal, his insight was amazing, and he didn’t notice any ambiguity between them.
It’s possible that they really are innocent with each other.
But it’s also possible… that they are hiding it well.
Daniel is hiding it well.
As for Clara… she’s just a naive little girl. He can see through her thoughts clearly when it comes to him.
To Daniel… she only has ordinary neighborly feelings.
As for Daniel…
Huh.
Doesn’t he have eyes?
His woman, dare he have thoughts about her?
Ethan returned the phone to Clara.
She thought Ethan was being inexplicable and unreasonable… Is he taking advantage of the fact that she’s afraid of him and doesn’t dare to defy him?
“Delete him,” Ethan said.
“… Who?” Clara paused for a moment, not understanding who Ethan was referring to.
“Daniel,” Ethan said.
She looked at Ethan in confusion. “Why should I delete Daniel?”
“What?” Ethan raised an eyebrow, his gaze cold and devoid of warmth as he looked at Clara. “Don’t want to delete?”
She thought Ethan was inexplicable and unreasonable. Is it because she ignored him earlier that he deliberately did this to provoke her and seek attention?
“Give me a reason if you want me to delete Daniel,” Clara said.
Deleting Daniel without any reason would be awkward if they ever meet again… How would she explain it?
“If a man asks a woman out for dinner late at night, under what circumstances do you think that would happen?” Ethan asked coldly.
Clara paused for a moment, looking at Ethan. Did he think that Daniel had ulterior motives towards her? Did he have romantic feelings for her?
She felt… Ethan was really inexplicable.
Daniel was just simply asking her out for dinner.
What was he thinking?
She actually wanted to tell Ethan that if Daniel really had romantic feelings for her or any thoughts in that direction, they would have been together long ago… Why would she wait until now to marry him on behalf of her sister?
“Daniel is just an ordinary older brother from the neighborhood,” Clara said.
“An ordinary older brother from the neighborhood?” Ethan raised an eyebrow and asked, “In your neighborhood… is he the only older brother from the neighborhood? Don’t you have any other older brothers from the neighborhood?”
Clara hesitated. “… Yes.”
“Then why did only he invite you out for dinner late at night and not any of the other older brothers from the neighborhood?” Ethan coldly looked at Clara.
She didn’t know how to answer that question.
She actually didn’t know.
She originally thought Daniel treated her as an ordinary younger girl from the neighborhood.
But after Ethan said that… she couldn’t help but speculate. Could it be that Daniel really had some thoughts about her?
But if he did, why didn’t he confess earlier? Why didn’t he pursue her?
If Daniel had confessed earlier, she would have been with him long ago.
She wouldn’t have married someone with such a bad temper like Ethan.
“I have a good relationship with Daniel,” Clara said.
“Huh.” Ethan sneered.
A good relationship? As a man, he couldn’t tolerate his wife having a good relationship with another man.
“Delete,” Ethan coldly commanded Clara.
She tightly held onto her phone.
She didn’t want to delete it.
Not because she couldn’t bear it, but… she was really afraid of future awkwardness if they were to meet again.
If Daniel asked why she deleted him, how would she answer?
“Don’t want to?” Ethan asked, truly angry now. Clara actually refused to delete Daniel despite his strong request.
Under his strong demand, she still didn’t want to delete him.
That Daniel… is he really that important to her?
More important than him?
He knew that when he married Clara, it was out of necessity. She didn’t have any feelings for him… She practically married him because of the interests and safety of the Everett family.
But even though they were forced at first, they have been married for so long now and have been living together day and night. He has done everything he should do as a husband.
He treated her well, giving her the dignity and all the enjoyment she deserved.
And what about her?
In her heart, does he not hold any place at all?
Her husband… who has done everything intimate with her, can’t even compare to an older brother from the neighborhood?
Huh!
“Not…,” Clara said. She saw Ethan’s dark face and knew that Ethan was truly angry now.
Despite how strong-willed she seemed earlier when ignoring Ethan…
In reality, she was very timid.
She was still afraid of Ethan.
Afraid of Ethan getting angry.
She feared that if Ethan got angry, he would destroy her and destroy the Everett family.
“What if I meet Daniel in the future and he asks me why I deleted him… wouldn’t that be awkward?” Clara said.
“If he asks, just say I deleted him,” Ethan said coldly.
She looked at Ethan silently. Ethan and Daniel were not familiar with each other. They basically wouldn’t meet each other, so of course he wouldn’t find it awkward anymore.
But she found it awkward.
