Clara tried to walk past him, but Benjamin blocked her way.
This man was indeed up to no good.
Clara looked at him and said, “I warn you, don’t try anything. There are security guards patrolling here at all times.”
Benjamin nodded. “I know…”
Then he looked at Clara. “Do you really think I want to do something to you?”
Wasn’t it obvious?
That night at the banquet when they first met, he acted like a lunatic, asking if she liked him and if she was pursuing him.
She now suspected that this man might have fallen in love with her at first sight.
After all, she did look stunning that night. Even she couldn’t help but be charmed when she looked in the mirror.
“You’re overthinking,” Benjamin said. “I don’t like your type.”
If he didn’t like her, then why did he keep pestering her that night?
And now, blocking her way as if he wanted to do something to her.
Men’s words couldn’t be trusted.
“Don’t believe me?” Benjamin raised an eyebrow.
Of course, she didn’t believe him.
“Move aside,” Clara said. “Move aside, and I’ll believe you.”
Benjamin smirked. “Where do you get your confidence? Look at yourself… plain and average. I’m not interested.”
Clara was furious.
How was she plain and average?
Her figure was not ordinary either.
This jerk.
Couldn’t get her, so he started belittling her?
“Look at me… my stunning looks, my perfect body… If I were to find someone, it would definitely be someone better looking than me,” Benjamin said.
Clara looked at Benjamin and blurted out, “Like Nora?”
She had seen Nora chatting and laughing with this man that night, their stunning looks together… breathtaking.
Benjamin suddenly smiled at Clara. “Good eye.”
What did that mean?
“You think Nora and I make a good match, don’t you?” Benjamin asked with a smile. Clara felt a bit smug.
This man liked Nora?
Then why didn’t he go after Nora?
Why block her way for no reason?
“I need to go back,” Clara said.
She didn’t care who this man liked or who he matched with; it had nothing to do with her.
Clara tried to leave again, but Benjamin blocked her once more.
Clara stomped her foot in frustration. “What do you want?”
Benjamin smiled. “You haven’t answered me yet. Do Nora and I make a good match?”
Was this guy crazy?
He seemed genuinely crazy.
“If I answer, will you let me go?” Clara asked.
Benjamin nodded with a smile. “Yes, if your answer satisfies me, I’ll let you go.”
Clara gritted her teeth. “Yes, you and Nora are a perfect match, a match made in heaven.”
Benjamin laughed brightly. “You really are an honest child with good taste.”
Clara looked at Benjamin in surprise.
This man… already looked devilishly handsome, and his bright smile… really made the whole world seem brighter.
“I like honest kids like you,” Benjamin said.
She didn’t want him to like her.
Besides… she wasn’t a kid anymore.
She was married now; strictly speaking, she was a young wife!
“Can I go now?” Clara asked.
“Go ahead,” Benjamin stepped aside.
Clara glanced at him, then walked away without looking back. After a few steps, she secretly turned around to see Benjamin still watching her and then ran off.
Ethan’s little wife was unexpectedly… quite cute.

In the evening, Clara went downstairs for dinner.
And saw Benjamin in the living room.
What was he doing here?
Who was he?
“Hi, honest child. We meet again,” Benjamin greeted Clara with a smile.
“Clara,” June smiled and said, “let me introduce you. This is Benjamin… he lives in our neighborhood. He’s our neighbor.”
Clara’s face suddenly turned red with embarrassment.
So it was just a coincidence meeting him in the neighborhood earlier; she had thought… Benjamin was stalking her.
She had been too self-absorbed.
Benjamin looked at her with a playful smile.
She felt ashamed.
“Hello…” Clara said.
She looked at Benjamin and noticed that he always had a playful smile on his face.
Others might look strange with such an expression all the time.
But Benjamin was good-looking.
Even with a mischievous smile… he still looked charming.
Indeed. Good-looking people always look good no matter what.

The elders in the family rarely had dinner at home.
Every evening, they had various social engagements and banquets to attend.
Tonight, only Benjamin, June, and Clara were having dinner at home.
The others were not home.
The three of them sat in the dining room.
June kept talking to Benjamin.
And… Clara noticed that June was very proactive towards Benjamin, even somewhat flattering him.
After watching for a while, Clara understood the situation.
June seemed to like Benjamin.
And Benjamin?
Benjamin seemed to like Nora.
From their conversation in the neighborhood that afternoon, Clara could tell… Benjamin liked Nora.
Benjamin liked Nora, June liked Benjamin, so who did Nora like?
Did she like Benjamin?
Then what about June?
After dinner, Clara went back to her room.
She continued selling her items online.
There were only a few left to sell.
Ethan had social engagements tonight and came back late. By the time he returned, Clara was already asleep.
Ethan looked at Clara sleeping soundly on the bed.
The little girl slept well.
Not worried at all?
He didn’t come home for dinner; she didn’t even call to ask where he was?
Didn’t she want to know what he was doing?
A man not coming home at night could be doing many things…
She didn’t care?
Ethan snorted… heartless girl.
Ethan took a shower and got into bed. Clara remained in the same position, sleeping soundly.
Ethan suddenly felt a bit angry.
He turned over and pinned Clara under him, kissing her face and neck fervently.
“Mm…” Clara felt something was wrong in her sleep. She opened her eyes… and met Ethan’s deep gaze.
“Awake?” Ethan asked in a hoarse voice.
Clara woke up!
She looked at Ethan in horror. “What are you doing?”
What did he want to do?
Why?
They didn’t fight last night; did he want to fight tonight?
“Nothing,” Ethan said, then lowered his head to kiss Clara’s lips again.
Clara was scared and turned her head instantly… making Ethan miss his target.
“I have… my period,” Clara said.
“I know,” Ethan said but continued kissing Clara’s white neck gently.
Shivering slightly…
His actions didn’t seem like he knew at all…
He seemed really scary like this…
No…
You don’t know…
If you knew, you wouldn’t be doing this now…
—
Clara hid under the blanket in embarrassment.
Too shy to face anyone…
Ethan, that jerk…
Clara realized for the first time… that it could be done this way too…
Ethan cleaned himself up in the bathroom and came out. He glanced at Clara but said nothing. He got into bed and closed his eyes to sleep.
