Ethan nodded.
Belle smiled and said to Ella and the others, “Ethan and Miss Everett are going home. Let me take you back to school.”
“No need,” Ella shook her head, “We’ll take a taxi back.”
“It’s no trouble, it’s on the way,” Belle said with a smile.
Ella and the others exchanged glances and nodded, “Then we’ll trouble you.”
Seeing Belle arrange for Ella and the others, Ethan was satisfied and said to Clara, “Let’s go.”
Clara didn’t want to return to the Everett family; she wanted to go back to school and stay in the dormitory but didn’t dare to say it. She could only say goodbye to Ella and the others and then followed Ethan.
“Let’s go,” Belle said with a smile to the three girls.
Ella and the others nodded.
They got into Belle’s car.
Belle’s car was a Range Rover, quite imposing, matching her temperament well.
Belle was about 170 cm tall, with shoulder-length short hair, clean makeup, and an air of cold elegance. She did not look like a pretentious woman.
Belle drove them back to school. On the way, she received a phone call. It seemed someone was inviting her to sing. Belle spoke a few words and finally agreed. After hanging up, she said to Ella and the others, “My friend invited me to sing. Do you want to join?”
Zoe sat in the front passenger seat, while Ella and Ava were in the back. The two exchanged glances.
Belle could dine with Ethan, so her status must be significant. Looking at her car… she was wealthy.
Rich people’s friends were also rich people.
Knowing a few more wealthy people wouldn’t hurt them.
“We don’t know them. Wouldn’t it be awkward with so many people?” Ava asked with a smile.
Belle shook her head with a smile, “No.”
“Then… let’s go,” Ella said.
Belle nodded with a smile and drove towards the destination.
Clara got into Ethan’s car. Ethan drove while Clara sat in the passenger seat, looking at the scenery outside the window. She recalled Belle’s appearance. Actually… she didn’t look at Belle carefully at that time, inexplicably feeling a bit afraid.
Afraid to scrutinize Belle.
She feared seeing disdain and ridicule in Belle’s eyes.
She knew she was too timid.
But there was nothing she could do; she was just that timid.
They arrived home, got out of the car, went inside, and returned to their room.
Ethan took off his clothes and went to the bathroom to shower. Clara sat on the bed, thinking that Ethan must be planning to take revenge on her and the Everett family. Now Ethan’s revenge had begun. The so-called revenge… was to make the other party sad and upset so that the avenger would feel accomplished.
For example, when you scold someone, if they remain calm and don’t react, the person scolding feels frustrated. But if the other person jumps up and retaliates angrily, the scolder feels energized and continues scolding with more vigor.
Clara thought about it and felt her reaction today was too calm.
Seeing her husband having a romantic candlelight dinner with another woman, she should be angry, furious, sad, and aggrieved… only then would Ethan feel satisfied and get a sense of revenge.
Clara took a deep breath and made up her mind…
Ethan soon finished his shower, wearing pajamas and drying his hair as he walked out.
Hearing footsteps, Clara looked up.
Seeing tears in Clara’s eyes, Ethan paused his actions and looked at her.
Was she… about to cry?
He frowned slightly. Why cry for no reason?
“Do you… like Belle?” Clara choked out, her eyes brimming with tears, looking pitifully heart-wrenching.
So she was sad because she saw him having dinner with Belle?
“We’re just friends,” Ethan said.
Clara blinked, and tears streamed down her cheeks like broken pearls, falling one by one on her fair face.
“You men always say that. Friends? Would ordinary friends go to such a western restaurant for dinner alone?” Clara cried as she asked Ethan.
She silently praised herself for her acting skills. Perhaps… she shouldn’t have studied finance but gone into acting instead. Being a star now would be more lucrative and glamorous.
Friends can’t have dinner at a western restaurant?
“Who says friends can’t have dinner at a western restaurant?” Ethan asked calmly.
Seeing Ethan’s indifferent demeanor, Clara felt inexplicably aggrieved. She was crying so sadly, yet Ethan didn’t comfort her but instead reasoned with her calmly. Indeed, he didn’t care about her at all.
She was just a pawn for Ethan to use against her sister and the Everett family.
Now Clara was genuinely sad.
She felt truly innocent; she had done nothing wrong to the Everett family or Ethan. Why did Ethan have to use her to take revenge on her sister and the Everett family?
What started as fake crying turned into real sadness.
Clara lowered her head, tears falling one after another onto the quilt, quickly soaking a large area.
