Meanwhile, the Harris family was still in an uproar.
Elowen had been taken away, and Mrs. Ada chased them all the way to the door, watching as Elowen was roughly shoved into the car. Furious, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted on the spot.
Aria and David hurriedly carried Mrs. Ada back into the house. After she came to, she cried and cursed incessantly.
“Mom, don’t worry, don’t get yourself worked up. I won’t abandon Elowen…” David comforted his mother for a while, and only after the family doctor had finished examining her did he feel reassured enough to leave her room.
Downstairs in the living room, the servants were busy cleaning up. Those people who had barged in, with so much chaos, had ended up breaking and damaging many things. The living room was almost a complete mess.
Charlotte was directing the servants to clean up. “A bunch of unsophisticated bumpkins, absolutely vulgar. They couldn’t pay for all this damage even if we sold them off!”
She finished speaking and saw David coming down the stairs. She immediately smiled and approached him. “David, why did you come down? Go back to your room; it’s such a mess here… ah…”
Before she could finish her sentence, David slapped her across the face.
Stunned, she held her cheek, unable to react for a moment, staring blankly at David.
“Mom!” Victoria, seeing this, immediately came to Charlotte’s side and half-embraced her. “Dad, if there’s something to discuss, can’t it be done calmly? Why such anger?”
“David, I know you’re upset about Elowen being taken back, but you can’t take it out on me. We’ve been married for so many years, and in your heart, I’m worth less than a wild woman,” Charlotte said, agitated and out of control.
Victoria frowned slightly, subtly tugging at her sleeve. David was already angry, and confronting him directly would surely backfire on them.
Sure enough, David, still furious, raised his hand and slapped Charlotte again. This time, though, she was prepared and turned her head, so David’s slap only grazed her chin.
“Dad, calm down,” Victoria said, afraid that David would strike again, immediately stepping in front of Charlotte.
David’s eyes red with anger, pointed at them with a trembling hand. “You two know very well what you did. Do I need to spell it out? ! How did those people find their way here? You know!”
David wasn’t stupid. Elowen barely left the villa, so how could those people have found their way here and dared to barge into his house? To say there was no one behind this, he would never believe it.
David knew full well that Elowen’s departure directly benefited Charlotte and her daughters.
Victoria also understood that continuing to treat David like a fool wouldn’t work.
“Dad, we’re family. Whatever mom and I do, it’s for you,” Victoria said earnestly.
“Elowen has too many issues surrounding her, and her late husband’s family won’t let her go. It’s better to let her go back for now, deal with her late husband’s matters, and then bring her back.
Moreover, with the upcoming election, you can’t afford any slip-ups. If any scandal breaks out, it would be disastrous.”
Victoria knew David too well. Every word hit his weak points. His expression remained grim, but he didn’t erupt further, storming off in a huff.
David returned to his room, remembering that today he had planned to discuss the upcoming election with Andrew. With Andrew’s support, his promotion was practically guaranteed.
David eagerly took out his phone to call Isabella, but the call didn’t go through.
Three days later.
Isabella had flown out for a business trip to prepare for her second tour concert.
Andrew was still incredibly busy. From the engagement, to the wedding, to the honeymoon, everything required time. His assistant Nathan was busily adjusting his schedule, trying to make time for everything.
After a routine meeting, Andrew walked out of the conference room, holding a document in his left hand while discussing something with Ryan.
Nathan approached him respectfully. “Boss, the people from the wedding planning company are here. They’re waiting for you in the small reception room.”
“Alright.” Andrew nodded slightly and walked into the small reception room. Ryan followed him in.
The wedding planning company had sent two people: the planning director, a well-dressed man in his early thirties, and a pretty woman in her mid-twenties who was his assistant.
In the wedding planning industry, appearances matter, and employees generally look presentable.
When they saw Andrew enter, they immediately stood up, greeting him politely and respectfully.
Andrew sat down, his deep and indifferent gaze sweeping over them. “Sit down.”
The two from the wedding company then sat down again. The director managed to keep his composure, but his assistant stared at Andrew, practically drooling.
Andrew was always low-key, never appearing in the media. So, besides family, friends, and high-level company executives, few had seen him in person. The wedding planners likely hadn’t expected Andrew to be so young and handsome.
“Let’s begin. You have half an hour,” Andrew said, glancing at his wristwatch.
Andrew typically gave clients no more than twenty minutes, highlighting the importance he placed on this wedding.
The director subtly kicked his assistant, snapping her back to attention. She retrieved a thick stack of materials from her bag.
The director personally handed the materials to Andrew, which included designs for wedding rings and dresses, as well as various wedding plans.
Andrew flipped through the materials page by page, studying them intently. The wedding company’s director stood by, explaining each item.
In thirty minutes, Andrew had reviewed the basic materials. He could decide on the rings and proposal arrangements, but the dress, wedding, and honeymoon needed the bride’s approval.
“I’ll discuss this with my wife and get back to you. Thank you for your hard work.” Andrew picked up his coffee, signaling that the meeting was over.
The director and assistant stood up, politely saying, “Mr. Andrew, you’re too kind. It’s our honor to serve you.”
Then, the secretary led them out.
As they entered the elevator, the assistant was so excited she nearly jumped for joy. “Mr. Andrew is so handsome! Especially when he’s focused on looking at the designs, it’s absolutely mesmerizing.”
“No matter how mesmerizing, it has nothing to do with you. Focus on your work. Isabella is a top actress, and she’s marrying the CEO of the Turner family. Doing this wedding well will be great publicity for our company. If we mess it up, we’ll both be packing our bags.”
” Okay, fine.” The assistant nodded obediently, thinking to herself: Isabella is truly lucky.
