Almost everyone present was intelligent and discerning, so one by one, they took their leave.
Once the guests dispersed, David’s expression grew even darker. He felt like he had been thoroughly humiliated.
David glanced at Elowen who was crying, then cast a cold gaze at the unwelcome guests.
“Elowen is a relative of my mother’s, my cousin, staying temporarily in my house. What business do you have with her?”
The woman suddenly pulled out a red marriage certificate and unfolded it. Inside the marriage certificate, there was a photo of Elowen with a strange man.
Pointing at the photo, the woman said, “Elowen is my daughter-in-law, and I’m taking her back.”
“My husband is deceased, and I have no relationship with your family anymore. I have the right to marry freely.” Elowen hurriedly spoke.
“How dare you speak! Do you have any idea how my son died?” The woman pointed her finger at Elowen’s nose and cursed. “You shameless slut, back then you saw my family had money, and you used all your tricks to seduce my son. He was married at the time, and his first wife was almost driven to death by you. When you got pregnant and showed up at our door, my son had no choice but to divorce and marry you. In the end, when his business failed, you immediately aborted the child and demanded a divorce. Then soon after, you hooked up with other men, and my son caught you in bed with them.”
As the woman spoke, she cried and wailed, “My poor son, he was arguing with you lover, and he was pushed down the stairs and died from hitting his head. My poor son, you’ve ruined him so miserably.”
“I didn’t do it, you misunderstood. If I were guilty, the police wouldn’t have let me go.” Elowen hurriedly explained, looking pitifully at David, but seeing his expression getting worse and worse.
“You seductive woman, I don’t know how you bewitched people. Your lover took all the blame and was sentenced to death.” The woman sneered.
“No, that’s not true. No matter how I explain, you wouldn’t believe me.” Elowen cried out, feeling helpless and pitiful, trying to seek shelter behind David, but Charlotte stood firmly in front of her.
“Elowen, since there’s a misunderstanding between you and this aunt, why don’t you go back and explain it clearly?”
Victoria took Elowen’s arm and subtly pushed her towards the woman.
The woman grabbed Elowen, afraid she would struggle again. “Elowen, don’t think you can continue hiding in this mansion. You bitch, quickly hand over the two properties and savings my son gave you; otherwise, don’t blame me for not sparing you!”
“What properties? I don’t know anything about it. You’re wronging me.” Elowen struggled and cried, and the woman quickly called her family to help hold Elowen down.
“You people, I have no grievances with you. Why are you slandering me like this?!” Elowen started to struggle again, wanting to bang her head against the wall.
David rushed to stop her, while others rushed to restrain her, causing chaos.
The servants and those people even started fighting, turning the hall into a scene of chaos. Isabella didn’t want to get involved, but seeing the situation was too chaotic, she saw a man almost collide with Ava and quickly reached out to protect her. As a result, several people collided, and Isabella, quick to push Ava away, fell to the ground herself, hitting her forehead squarely on the corner, causing a large bruise to form. She reached out to cover her forehead, feeling dizzy and disoriented.
Shortly after, the chaos was brought under control. In this situation, David had no choice but to compromise and let them take Elowen away. Continuing the fight would only lead to further escalation, and if someone got hurt, it would reflect poorly on David. Moreover, if the improper relationship between him and Elowen were exposed, it wouldn’t just be a matter of losing face.
At the entrance, Elowen was being dragged away by those people just as Andrew’s car pulled in.
As Andrew stepped inside, he immediately noticed Isabella half sitting on the ground, her hand covering her forehead.
His blue eyes turned cold, and he strode over to her, lifting her up from the ground.
As she nestled into his warm chest, she tilted her chin up, meeting his deep profile. “Andrew, you’re here.”
“Yes,” he replied softly, holding her and stepping through the mess on the floor towards the door with steady strides.
David’s attention had been focused on Elowen and dealing with those people, but now he noticed that Isabella seemed to be injured. He hurried over.
“Andrew, why didn’t you inform us in advance of your arrival? I apologize for the oversight,” David hurriedly tried to explain, chasing after Andrew’s steps. “Andrew, listen to me…”
Andrew suddenly stopped in his tracks, his gaze icy as he looked at David. “Is there anything more important than taking Isabella to the hospital?”
David hesitated for a moment, his face frozen with embarrassment.
“If not, please don’t stand in the way,” Andrew said coldly, bypassing him and carrying Isabella directly into the black Mercedes.
The car quickly left the premises of the mansion.
Inside the car, Isabella leaned against the window and happened to see Elowen being stuffed into a dilapidated car before those people left in a procession.
An arm wrapped around her slender waist from behind, pulling her forcefully into a warm chest.
“Headache gone? Sit still,” he said.
Isabella rested against his chest, her red lips lightly brushing against his chin. “Just a bump, I’m not that fragile.”
Andrew’s palm cupped her chin, his cool fingertips touching her forehead. It was indeed just a bruise, nothing serious. But even if his beloved mate lost a single hair, he would still be concerned.
“From now on, visit the Harris family less,” he said coldly.
“Okay,” she nodded obediently, naturally drawing closer to him. She couldn’t help but sigh. “It’s a pity Elowen got kicked out like this.”
“David isn’t foolish,” he remarked coldly.
“Yeah, Elowen’s character is questionable indeed,” she chuckled, her eyes squinting mischievously like a cunning fox. “Charlotte might not come out of this unscathed either. David didn’t climb to his current position by being dumb. When those people suddenly showed up, I could already guess it was Charlotte and her daughters causing trouble. Can David not figure it out? He might be taking it out on them right now. David is scum, I don’t know what my mom saw in him back then, must have been blind!”
After saying this, Isabella reached out and wrapped her arm around Andrew’s neck with a clever look. “It’s you, my unemployed vagabond is always the best.”
“You talk too much,” he indulgently pinched her cheek.
