“Since you can’t guarantee that, then every time could be the last. I don’t want to invite trouble for myself. Besides, you’ve exhausted the favor between me and your brother. Don’t come looking for me again,” Andrew said, crossing over her and preparing to leave. But Elysia, in a fit of excitement, grabbed his hand.
“Andrew! Are you this heartless to every woman you encounter? Aren’t you afraid Isabella will be disappointed if she finds out?” Elysia yelled uncontrollably.
“Please understand, you’re not my woman,” he said impatiently, looking at her grabbing his hand. “If you don’t let go, I’ll have the security here escort you out.”
Elysia, still out of control, continued to tightly grip his hand.
He glanced at his driver behind him, who understood and immediately dialed the security department of the villa area.
Soon, several security guards in uniform arrived.
“Could you please escort this lady out?” Andrew said.
The head of security walked up to Elysia. “Miss, please leave immediately and don’t disturb our homeowner. You’re a public figure; causing such a scene won’t do your reputation any favors.”
The head of security’s words were relatively polite, but his subordinates weren’t as kind. Two guards grabbed Elysia from both sides and dragged her away.
Elysia stared at Andrew in disbelief, frightened. She probably didn’t expect him to actually call the security to have her removed.
“Andrew, Andrew, how could you treat me like this!” Elysia yelled hysterically as she was half-dragged away.
Andrew’s driver followed, handing a cigarette to the head of security and reminding him, “Buddy, you know what to say and what not to, right?”
The head of security took the cigarette with a smile. “Rest assured, we’ve been in this line of work for a long time; we know how to keep our mouths shut.”
In this wealthy area, everyone lived at the pinnacle of Ithaca town, and there was no room for making enemies.
Satisfied, the driver nodded and left after watching them escort Elysia away.
Meanwhile, at the villa gate…
Andrew walked up to Isabella’s car and knocked on the window.
She rolled down the window, looking innocent.
“Still up for some entertainment?” he asked with a light laugh.
“She’s already been expelled by Mr. Andrew you, what entertainment is left to see?” she shrugged in response.
“In that case, let’s go home,” he said, opening the car door for her.
She turned off the ignition and followed him into the villa.
Once inside, he habitually took off his coat and rolled up the sleeves of his shirt.
“Have you eaten dinner?” he asked her.
She shook her head, having been entertained enough for the day and forgetting about eating.
“Wait here, I’ll make something,” he said, walking into the kitchen.
There weren’t many ingredients in the fridge, so he quickly whipped up two Italian dishes.
After serving the food, they sat facing each other at the table.
Andrew was quiet while eating, occasionally cutting a piece of steak for Isabella.
As she ate, she casually asked, “You really don’t plan to intervene in Elysia’s affairs?”
“That’s correct,” he replied indifferently, not wanting to dwell on the topic.
She looked at him thoughtfully while biting her fork.
He seemed to sense her gaze and looked at her, his eyes deepening. “Isabella, do you think I’m heartless?”
“Yeah, a little,” she replied honestly.
His hand holding the chopsticks paused for a moment, and he continued in a detached tone, “If things aren’t dealt with cleanly, she might continue to be a bother in the future. Do you want that?”
She shook her head decisively.
He smiled warmly, picked up his fork, and served her some more steak.
Isabella took a bite of her food and then asked, “If, I mean if, one day I also exhaust your feelings, would you be just as heartless towards me?”
She blinked her clear eyes, looking at him earnestly.
He hesitated for a while before softly replying, “Perhaps.”
In fact, he could have just brushed her off with a sentence, but he didn’t want to deceive her. For him, love is love, and lack of love is lack of love. If he couldn’t be with someone, he believed in cleanly breaking things off. Just like he did with Scarlett Taylor.
But Andrew never dared to imagine what it would be like to be separated from Isabella. After all, she was the only woman he had almost fully invested his love in.
If that day really came, the pain would probably be akin to being torn apart limb by limb.
Isabella seemed obviously dissatisfied with his answer. She ate her food with her head down, ignoring him.
Wasn’t this man supposed to be so astute? Didn’t he know that girls need to be comforted?
She had said ‘if’. She wasn’t stupid; how could she possibly be asking for trouble?
They ate their meal in silence, each lost in their own thoughts.
So, the biggest problem between Andrew and Isabella was the generation gap, huh? Their thoughts never seemed to align.
After dinner, he washed the dishes in the kitchen while she stood by the bedroom window lost in thought.
The waters of the Harris family were already muddy, stirred even more by Elowen, but Elowen’s approach to David was also driven by greed and desire. She coveted the wealth of the Harris family, which originally belonged to the Allen family.
Isabella had been thinking about how to take everything that belonged to her in this muddy water and then leave unscathed.
Lost in her thoughts, she didn’t even notice when Andrew came in. It wasn’t until his arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her close to his chest, that she snapped out of it.
“Are you still angry?” his low, magnetic voice whispered near her ear.
“What?” She was momentarily confused before realizing he was referring to their conversation during dinner.
In truth, she hadn’t even taken it to heart. As a woman, she could still feel whether a man loved her or not. She had always been confident in the feelings between her and Andrew.
But Andrew seemed more anxious than her.
This was the deepest he had ever fallen in his nearly thirty years of life. And the deeper he fell, the harder it was to extricate himself.
“Isabella, I don’t want to think about it, and I dare not think about it,” he murmured hoarsely.
“Dare not think about what?” She was puzzled.
“Not wanting you to leave me,” he replied, his voice hoarse, tinged with a hint of pain.
In the eyes of the world, Andrew was a lofty figure. However, beyond his status and identity, he was also an ordinary man. When it came to love, he could be as vulnerable as dust.
In that moment, Isabella’s heart softened into a puddle of water.
“Alright, I won’t leave you,” she simply replied, a smile uncontrollably appearing on her lips.
