So he had rushed here just to be her wish angel.
Before Isabella started crying, she closed her eyes, stood on tiptoe, and firmly pressed her soft red lips against Andrew’s.
Around them, the snow fell silently.
They stood under the snow-covered streetlamp, kissing.
The orange light shone down from above, casting long shadows under their feet, where two silhouettes intimately overlapped.
They kissed reluctantly but had to temporarily part ways.
Andrew’s plane was scheduled to take off an hour later, and with the snowy weather, he had to leave for the airport early.
However, Isabella held onto his hand tightly, reluctant to let go.
“I’ll come visit you when I have time,” he said.
Although he said so, she knew he, as the CEO of the conglomerate, had little spare time.
His visit to the film set would only reduce his sleep time, to finish work ahead of schedule.
He already averaged six hours of sleep a day, any less, and she would worry.
“In two months at most, I’ll be back. After this film is finished, I’ll take some time off to be with you,” she promised.
“Well, okay,” Andrew nodded.
“Mr. Andrew, you should leave now,” the driver reminded, respectfully opening the car door.
Her eyes froze, he left in the car.
His car disappeared from sight, and only then did she turn and walk into the hotel.
Wrapped in her down jacket, she took the elevator upstairs.
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she ran into Emrys.
Emrys, wearing a coat, seemed about to go out and was standing at the elevator entrance smoking.
They met face to face, and then things got awkward.
Isabella had just lied about feeling unwell not long ago. Then now, here she was, caught red-handed right after saying she wasn’t feeling well. How embarrassing.
Compared to her, Emrys was much calmer. He nodded to her in greeting, and then they brushed past each other as Emrys entered the elevator.
Isabella focused on filming at the set, thinking she would have to endure for another two months before she could go back to see Andrew and Asher.
However, the next day, there was a scene where she had to ride a horse, and Emrys accidentally fell off the horse and broke his leg.
The film was already halfway through, and for a low-budget suspense drama like theirs, replacing the male lead at this point wasn’t wise.
With his leg in a cast, Emrys gritted his teeth and insisted on filming a few scenes that didn’t require much movement. However, he was still affected to some extent, resulting in Isabella getting a few extra days off.
She booked a flight and, before departing for the airport, deliberately detoured to the hospital to visit Emrys.
Although Emrys had injured his leg, his spirits were still high. When she walked into the ward, Emrys was sitting on the bed reading the script.
“Emrys, you’re really dedicated. You should get some reporters to interview you,” she joked with a smile.
Emrys chuckled, put down the script, and motioned for her to sit.
“Don’t blame me because I got injured and delayed the progress of the crew,” Emrys said, full of self-blame. He had worked hard to get this opportunity and treasured it greatly.
“Where’s the delay? We’ve all benefited from it,” she said, playfully covering her lips, “Thanks to your injury, I’ve got many extra days off.”
Emrys laughed, seeming much brighter in mood. “It’s rare to have a few days off. You can explore around the film city. There are many places to visit here. If you’re not sure, I can make a travel guide for you. I’m quite familiar with this place.”
Over the years, Emrys had been running around the film city, often taking on extra roles to make ends meet.
“I’ve booked a flight back to Ithaca town today. Maybe next time,” she said.
“Oh, someone’s waiting for you, no wonder you’re in a hurry to go back,” Emrys teased.
Isabella smiled shyly and chatted casually with Emrys for a few moments. She glanced at her wristwatch and realized it was almost time to catch her flight, so she bid him farewell.
Isabella and Olivia walked out of the ward together and stood at the staircase waiting for the elevator.
The elevator doors opened, and a fully armed woman stepped out, clad in a black coat, her face covered with a mask and duckbill hat, walking past Isabella and Olivia with her head lowered.
Olivia subconsciously turned back to look at the woman’s retreating figure, appearing pensive.
“Let’s go, what are you thinking?” Isabella had already entered the elevator, her hand pressing the door button, waiting for Olivia.
“The one who just passed by, she seems to be the rising actress Chloe,” Olivia said.
“What’s she to you? Let’s go already.” Isabella glanced at her. With such heavy armor, unless she had some hidden illness, otherwise, it was likely a star trying to avoid being recognized, which she wasn’t interested in.
However, Olivia was more gossipy than her and insisted on following quietly.
“You go to the car and wait for me. I’ll go and take a look, and be right back,” Olivia said, then turned and followed.
Olivia followed the woman like a paparazzo, always keeping a close distance. The woman’s steps were brisk, completely oblivious to being followed.
Olivia followed her until she unexpectedly walked into Emrys’s ward.
Olivia stood at the door of the ward, peeking through the slightly ajar door.
She couldn’t help but admire her eyesight. It really was Chloe, even though she was covered so tightly, she still recognized her.
Inside the ward, Chloe took off her hat and mask, sitting on the edge of the bed with a nervous and aggrieved expression.
“I heard you fell off the horse while filming. Is the leg injury serious?” Chloe asked.
Emrys flipped through the script, as if he hadn’t heard her at all, completely ignoring her.
Seeing that he ignored her, Chloe stood up and reached out to lift the blanket covering him. But Emrys grabbed her hand and pushed it away.
“Miss Chloe, it’s not appropriate to do such an intimate act in a strange man’s room. What if it’s captured by reporters, if it affects your reputation, it’s even more of a sin for me,” Emrys said coldly.
“Emrys, are you still mad at me?” Chloe’s eyes welled up with tears, her voice choked. “Clarifying our relationship was the company’s idea.”
“Miss Chloe, unless you’ve lost your memory, we’ve already broken up,” Emrys said again.
A year ago, their date was photographed, and to maintain their image, the company publicly clarified that they had no relationship. As a man, unable to accept being hidden, Emrys couldn’t accept it. They had many arguments over this, then Chloe proposed to break up.
“I was just angry. Emrys, we’ve been together for so many years, and you said we would never separate for a lifetime,” Chloe cried and grabbed Emrys’s hand. He shook her off twice, but the third time she held on, he seemed to soften.
“Emrys, do you still remember when we were just small actors? You said no matter who becomes famous, we’ll continue to work hard. Once we earn enough money, we can live a stable life. Emrys, I’ve thought about it. In ten years at most, I’ll quit the entertainment industry. When we save enough money, we’ll return to our hometown, start a small business, and live a peaceful life. How about it?”
