The two were deeply engrossed in their passionate kiss when an abrupt cellphone ring shattered the room’s romance.
Andrew, reluctantly releasing her, tugged at the corner of his lips, grazing over the wound, causing a slight wince.
“Hand me the phone.”
Isabella, obediently submissive at the moment, walked to the door and retrieved the phone from the suit pocket hanging on the coat rack.
Andrew answered the call, hearing Joshua’s cold, deep voice on the other end.
Brandon is seriously injured. After leaving the police station, he rushed back to Schenectady town and was admitted to the military hospital. The heirs of the two major families fighting over a woman, the news has spread like wildfire.
Joshua, upon learning about it, was not pleased.
After ending the call, Andrew looked helplessly at Isabella.
“I need to go to Schenectady town. I’ll be back in at least a week. You take care of yourself,” he said, grabbing his coat and getting up.
“Schenectady town? Now?” Isabella was taken aback.
“Yes,” Andrew nodded without explaining further. He dialed Ryan’s number on the phone, instructing, “Come pick me up.”
A few minutes later, Ryan’s Lamborghini pulled up in the villa’s yard.
Isabella escorted Andrew outside, lingering until they reached the car, still reluctant to let go of his hand. “Take extra care of the wound on your hand. Avoid water; it could complicate things with tetanus. There’s a temperature difference between Schenectady town and here. We haven’t prepared clothing or toiletries. Will you manage to buy them in time, and also-”
Andrew felt that his little girl was too noisy today. He silenced her with a kiss, giving his ears some peace.
Her cheeks flushed red, she lightly punched his chest with her fists.
Releasing her, he gently smiled, “I’m leaving.”
“Okay,” Isabella nodded and watched him get into the car, only turning back after the car had disappeared.
……..
Isabella had a rare day off today, but Mrs. Ada and Aria dragged her along for shopping.
For Isabella, accompanying them for shopping meant spending money to avoid disaster. She endured it, but when she took a brief bathroom break, Mrs. Ada and Aria bumped into Mrs. Hannah.
It seems Mrs. Hannah suddenly had a heart attack while shopping, and Aria happened to rescue her.
People with some medical knowledge know that during a heart attack, the golden rescue period is just a few minutes, and Aria had learned some nursing skills at the right time, which came in handy.
A jack of all trades indeed, Aria had become Mrs. Hannah’s lifesaver, finally establishing a connection with the Turner family.
After being saved, Mrs. Hannah wasn’t taken to the hospital. As a sixty-year-old werewolf, she had some aversion to human hospitals. Moreover, her heart condition was an old issue, and her family doctor understood her situation better than hospital doctors.
After the family doctor’s examination, he advised Mrs. Hannah to rest more and not be excessively worried or anxious. He specifically praised Aria, stating that without her timely intervention and correct method, Mrs. Hannah’s situation could have been quite dangerous.
The doctor’s words made Mrs. Hannah more amiable towards Aria. Not only did she let them stay for lunch, but she also gifted Aria numerous pieces of jewelry.
Isabella, sitting on the side, almost became a backdrop.
Thinking about it, she and Mrs. Hannah had already fallen out, so her visit now was merely maintaining appearances on both sides.
Since she had nothing to do, Isabella sat by, watching Mrs. Ada flatter Mrs. Hannah while enthusiastically promoting Aria.
“My granddaughter has always been well-behaved and sensible since she was young. She’s smart, excels in her studies, and just returned from studying abroad last year. She’s already working as an actress at Moonlit Art Inc. This child is cautious and low-key. She doesn’t take many scripts that come her way; otherwise, she would have been as famous as Isabella by now.”
Mrs. Ada said this, and her gaze fell on Isabella nearby. “Isabella, don’t blame Grandma for saying this. You really should learn from your cousin. Cooking, doing household chores, she’s proficient in all of it, can manage in high society and the kitchen. You, on the other hand, act like a princess, expecting servants to cater to your every need. How will you take care of a husband and children in the future?”
Isabella awkwardly chuckled, unable to help rolling her eyes in her mind. What feud did she have with Mrs. Ada? She praised Aria while simultaneously stepping on her own feet.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Ada didn’t know that the Turner family were werewolves. If she knew they were werewolves, would she still be willing to let Aria marry into their family? Perhaps, yes, as long as there was enough wealth.
But, the Turner family may not necessarily agree to marry a human woman. Considering Jacob Turner’s previous attitude towards her, Isabella believes that it will not be easy for a human woman to marry a male werewolf in their family.
Mrs. Hannah glanced at Isabella, not showing much emotion, just echoing Mrs. Ada’s statement, “Aria is a good girl.”
“Mrs. Hannah, you have a good eye. Whoever marries my granddaughter in the future will be very fortunate.”
Mrs. Ada praised Aria to the skies, and Aria seemed a bit embarrassed herself, reaching out to tug Mrs. Ada’s hand, saying in a coquettish voice, “Grandma, please stop.”
“Alright, I won’t say more. This girl is even shy,” Mrs. Ada said, smiling warmly.
Coincidentally, just after Mrs. Ada finished her enthusiastic remarks, Henry entered the room.
Mrs. Ada and Aria were new faces, which didn’t interest Henry. When he saw Isabella, he slightly raised an eyebrow with a wicked coldness.
Isabella sat on the sofa, head slightly lowered, seemingly not noticing him at all. She tried to reduce her presence, almost wishing she was invisible air.
Mrs. Ada was unusually enthusiastic upon seeing Henry. She even stood up excitedly from her seat.
“Henry is back!” Mrs. Ada looked Henry up and down openly, exaggeratedly praising, “Henry, you’re truly handsome. Aria, come here and say hello.”
Aria stood up, cheeks slightly flushed, too shy to lift her head much, her voice as small as a mosquito’s, “Hello, Mr. Henry.”
“Hello,” Henry replied in an indifferent tone, deliberately walking over to sit beside Isabella and crossing his legs.
Mrs. Hannah glanced at her grandson, then at Mrs. Ada and Aria, seemingly realizing something and couldn’t help but furrow her brow.
The atmosphere fell into a brief silence.
Just as Mrs. Ada was about to speak, the sound of a car engine came from outside the villa’s entrance.
Soon after, there was movement at the entrance, and Andrew walked in with long strides.
