Jayden
As I stood on the makeshift stage, the crowd’s anticipation was palpable. People were holding up their phones, eager to capture the moment.
“I’m Jayden Harper, a computer science student at Boston College, final year, almost done with my degree,” I began, my voice echoing through the speakers.
I glanced at Allison, who was simply staring with little or no emotion. “And here’s my… ex-step-sister, Allison Bells. Our parents divorced a few days ago, so I guess that’s what I should call her now.”
The crowd erupted into laughter and cheers, unsure of what to make of the situation.
I continued, my voice growing more serious. “So, while we were still living together, back then as step-siblings, we… connected. And I realized I fell deeply in love with her.”
The crowd’s laughter died down, replaced by gasps and whispers. Some people looked shocked, while others seemed surprised.
I took a deep breath, my eyes locked on Allison’s. “But now, our parents aren’t together anymore, I feel like this is a big opportunity. That’s why I’m asking her, in front of all of you, to be the only love of my life. To be the one and only woman in my heart.”
Slowly, I turned to Allison, my heart pounding with anticipation. “What do you say, Allison? Do you accept me?”
The crowd held its collective breath, waiting for her response. But instead of speaking, she stood there, her expression unreadable.
“Allison?” I whispered, trying to understand what was going on with her. “Are you okay?”
Just then, Nina approached Allison and handed her a plastic bottle. Allison opened it, and with a sly smile, poured the contents over my head, drenching me from head to toe, all the way down to my sneakers. The liquid reeked, its putrid smell making my stomach turn. As it came into contact with my bare skin, I felt a stinging sensation, and my skin began to itch and burn in irritation.
I stumbled back, shocked, as the cold liquid continued to trickle down my body. “What is that?” I demanded, my eyes widening in surprise.
Nina burst into laughter. “Toilet water! From the water closet, deep down!”
The crowd erupted into a mix of gasps, laughter, and shocked whispers. I stood there, drenched and humiliated.
I turned to Allison, my face stern. “What the hell is this, Allison? What’s going on? Is this supposed to be a prank? This wasn’t what we planned, right?”
Allison’s expression turned icy. She raised her middle finger. “Fuck you, Jayden Harper.”
The crowd gasped again, some people laughing, others looking on in shock. I felt my face burning with embarrassment and confusion too.
I looked around, seeing the chaos unfold. People were still recording, laughing, and asking what was happening.
Then, I turned back to Allison, desperation creeping into my voice. “Allison, can you tell me what’s going on? What did I do wrong?”
My eyes widened as Allison whispered to my face, “Do I look like her that much? Miserable pervert.”
Her voice rose, anger and hurt pouring out. “You think I’ll never find out that you were using me? You love me?” She scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain. “No, you didn’t love me. You used me. You thought I was… whoever that bitch is, and you used me. And like a fool, I gave you my body.”
I tried to explain, but she cut me off. “Fuck you, and get the fuck out of my life.”
She turned to leave, but suddenly clutched her head, her face contorting in pain. I felt concerned.
“Allison, are you alright?” I asked, reaching out to her.
But before I could react, she collapsed into my arms, unconscious.
Nina yelled at me, her voice piercing through the chaos. “Leave my friend alone!” She pushed me away and scooped up Allison, carrying her through the crowd.
I stood there, stunned, my eyes fixed on the spot where Nina and Allison had disappeared. I felt like I’d been punched in the gut, unable to process what was happening.
Just as I was starting to come to my senses, Yvonne appeared in front of me, her eyes blazing with anger.
“Yvonne, what are you doing here?” I asked, trying to defuse the situation.
But Yvonne was beyond reason. She slapped me across the cheek, her hand stinging. “How could you?” she demanded, her voice trembling with rage.
I tried to calm her down, but Yvonne was having none of it. “How could you?” she repeated, her eyes welling up with tears. “You broke my heart, Jayden. Because of her… because of Allison? Your… Your fucking sister? You lied about being celibate, right? You’ve been banging her while asking me to wait!”
The crowd gasped, still recording.
I looked at her, trying to reason with her, but she was beyond consolation. What the fuck was wrong with this obnoxious lady, really! Getting on my nerves.
In a flash, Yvonne spotted a bottle on the floor, picked it up, and smashed it on the ground, creating a jagged edge.
My eyes widened in horror as she advanced on me, the broken bottle held menacingly. “I’m going to kill myself,” she hissed, her eyes wild with desperation.
I stumbled backward, trying to create some distance between us. “Yvonne, calm down! What are you doing?”
Yvonne held the broken bottle close to her neck, but she couldn’t bring herself to hurt herself. Instead, she burst into tears.
I scoffed, trying to hide my concern. “I knew you couldn’t do it. Stop playing, Yvonne. It’s over. Nothing can change that. Move on with your life, and let me move on with mine.”
Just as I was about to walk away, someone jumped on me, pinning me to the ground. Fists flew, punching me repeatedly in the face. I tried to defend myself, but my attacker was too strong.
When I finally managed to open my eyes, I saw Colby’s enraged face staring back at me.
“What the heck?” I muttered, trying to push him away.
But Colby was relentless, pummeling me with his fists. I summoned all my strength, managed to flip him over, and pinned him to the ground.
Now it was my turn to punch him, my fists flying until I grew tired. I stood up, my knuckles bloody, my face aching.
Breathless, I stumbled away from the scene, trying to process what had just happened. I pulled out my phone to call Allison, but her phone was switched off.
I stood there, feeling lost and confused. How had Allison found out everything? And now, our relationship might be beyond repair.
