Jayden
As Yvonne showered me with kisses, I quickly checked my phone to see that Allison had already ended the call. I tried to push her away gently, seething with anger, but she remained adamant.
“What’s wrong with you?” she asked, a frown appearing on her face.
“I’m still mad at you, Yvonne,” I replied, my tone firm.
Yvonne’s frown deepened. “What do you mean? You were the one who was wrong, but I still came back to you. Shouldn’t you be glad I’m back?” She asked, reaching out and taking my hand in hers.
I sighed deeply, pulling my hand free. “I need some time to myself. Maybe we should take a break.”
Just as I turned to leave, Yvonne hugged me tightly from behind and burst into tears, apologizing profusely. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry for hurting you. I don’t even know what I did, but I’m sorry.”
Students passing by began to stare, some of them whispering to each other. “What did Jayden do to Yvonne now?” they murmured. “She just went through hell yesterday because of Sally.”
Their sympathetic glances made me reconsider my stance. I sighed deeply and told Yvonne, “It’s fine, it’s fine.”
Yvonne’s tears instantly dried, and she smiled up at me, linking her arm with mine.
“Is there anything you want right now?” I asked, trying hard to be like a good guy who cares for her.
Yvonne’s eyes sparkled. “How about you take me on a small date? I’m starving!”
I couldn’t help but chuckle and nod my head. As we made plans, I pulled out my phone and sent Allison a text: “I’m really sorry. How about I come later?”
We finally got to the restaurant, and as we sat down, Yvonne and I ordered our meals and began to eat. I was enjoying my food when suddenly, Yvonne called the server over and asked for some yogurt. When it arrived, she took a sip, being careful not to make a mess.
But then, as she pulled the cup away, I noticed a small dollop of yogurt left on her lip. I didn’t think much of it at first, but it was clear she knew exactly what she was doing-trying to get my attention.
Without thinking, I reached into my pocket and pulled out my handkerchief. “Here, wipe your lip,” I said, offering it with a smile.
Yvonne frowned at me, her voice tinged with disappointment. “Don’t you even get the atmosphere? Don’t you watch those romantic comedies? You should have wiped it for me, Jayden, with your hands.”
“I think I’m okay now,” I said firmly. “I’ll go pay, and then I’m leaving.”
Her expression softened immediately, and she stood up. “I’ll go with you. I don’t want to leave you,” she said, her voice pleading. “Let’s go together, okay?”
At that moment, I was eager to see Allison and find out what was going on with her. I checked my messages, wondering if she had replied yet.
After paying the bill, we left the restaurant. I began thinking of a way to ditch Yvonne, knowing I couldn’t allow her to see that I was going to meet Allison.
I turned to Yvonne, my tone casual. “Well, I guess it’s time we go our separate ways, don’t you think?”
“No, I can’t be without you right now, Jayden,” she pouted, wrapping her arms tighter around me. “Let me follow you to your hostel instead. I’ll sleep over if you don’t mind. My body is really weak, and I need you to massage it.”
I sighed inwardly, uneasy with the suggestion. “You can’t come,” I said firmly.
“Why not?” she asked, her voice laced with desperation. “Please, Jayden, let me follow you.”
I shook my head, pulling my hand away from hers. “I’m leaving right now. You should head to your hostel before it gets late.”
As I turned to leave, Yvonne burst into loud sobs, drawing the attention of passersby. I rushed back to her, not wanting to appear heartless in public.
Yvonne’s eyes were red-rimmed as she begged, “Why are you trying to leave me? Please don’t leave me. Stay with me.”
I hesitated, then relented. “Fine, let’s get out of here.”
We finally arrived at my hostel, and Yvonne immediately made herself at home. She bounced onto the bed, rolling around and giggling like an excited child on a Christmas morning. I watched her with growing irritation.
“She’s so childish,” I muttered to myself.
I headed to the bathroom to wash up. As I stood in front of the mirror, I wondered how I’d manage to get rid of her. But then a plan formed in my mind.
After washing and dressing up, I returned to the room to find Yvonne snuggled up on the bed. “Do you want to sleep?” I asked.
She nodded, and I lay down beside her, pulling her close as I patted her back reassuringly. She nestled her face against my chest, and I held her warmly.
“Sleep tight, okay?” I said, trying to sound soothing. “I’m here.”
Eventually, Yvonne fell asleep within minutes. I carefully disengaged from her, trying not to wake her. Once I was sure she was out, I crept out of the room, closing the door behind me.
I immediately called Allison, but she didn’t pick up. I sent her a message: “Hey, I’m coming over.” Still, there was no response.
Hastening my pace, I made my way to her room and knocked on the door before opening it. What I saw shocked me: Allison was in the arms of another guy.
Who the heck was he?
I stepped forward, feeling defensive, and pulled the guy away from Allison. I turned him around, scrutinizing his face. He was undeniably handsome, with blonde hair and piercing brown eyes. He was tall, too.
My eyes narrowed, grabbing her wrist. “Who the heck are you?” I demanded. “And Allison, why were you hugging him? Are you two dating now?”
Allison’s expression flashed with anger. She yanked her hand out of mine and stepped forward, taking the guy’s hand in hers.
“Yes, we are dating,” she replied coolly, her eyes locked on mine. “And you need to leave. I don’t want to see you here. Go back to Yvonne, your wonderful girlfriend.”
