The winter sunset was fiery, and the air was cold.
A woman stood at the entrance of an abandoned apartment complex. After a moment, she pushed the door open and went inside. The person inside heard the noise and was startled. She looked in disbelief, “Callie!”
But it wasn’t Callie she saw; it was Marilyn.
Marilyn had come alone. She stood in front of the tightly bound Holly, a cold smile on her lips.
“How did you know I was here…” Holly looked at her in fear.
“I had people follow Nelson’s men for a whole week to find you. It wasn’t easy,” Marilyn said coldly. She had painstakingly figured out the bodyguards’ shift patterns and waited until they went to eat to sneak in.
“Why are you here… to vent your anger on me… Where is Callie!”
Holly had waited for days without seeing Callie and had lost all hope.
“You are such a fool, you can’t get rid of that poor smell,” Marilyn walked slowly to her side, pacing leisurely. “You almost got Callie killed, and you still expect her to save you?”
“Impossible… She needs me to find clues about Reuben…” Holly shook her head, unwilling to believe it.
“Don’t delude yourself. She’s already gone.”
“Where did she go?”
“Who knows, but she’s not in Ylosea anymore.” Marilyn suddenly pulled out a knife and pressed it against Holly’s throat. “Did you know? Last night, Nelson was racing on the second ring road, got into an accident, and is still being rescued.”
Holly’s eyes widened in shock, “You came to…”
“This is a good opportunity. Of course, I’m here to kill you and silence you!” Marilyn pressed harder. “Keep defying me, and let’s see if you still have a chance to tell the truth!”
Terrified, Holly broke out in a cold sweat. “You can’t do this! Marilyn, I’ve done so much for you, you can’t kill me!”
“You’ve ruined Callie. Do you think the Ellison family won’t come after you? When they do, you’ll give me away, and then it’ll be too late for me to kill you!”
Marilyn pressed harder, the knife piercing an inch into Holly’s neck.
“No!” Holly screamed, “Marilyn! I know where Cyrus is! You can’t kill me!”
Marilyn paused, “What did you say?”
“I said I know where Cyrus is!” Holly swallowed hard. “Even if you kill me, what good will it do? The Ellison family still won’t be yours. Even if Callie is gone, do you think Ahmad will hand over the family fortune to you? In the end, it will still be controlled by that woman Regan. What can you gain!”
She spoke quickly, fearing Marilyn would press harder.
Marilyn narrowed her eyes, “Why should I believe you?”
“When I was with Nelson, I learned it from him. It’s absolutely true!” Holly looked at her. “Jaquan won’t give up on his father. If you can find Cyrus, you’ll definitely find him. Then you can still cooperate; there’s a chance to turn things around!”
Perhaps feeling the fear of death, her mind was exceptionally clear.
Marilyn was half-convinced, “If you’re lying…”
“I’m not! I swear! As long as you get me out of here, I’ll tell you the clues. I still have value, don’t I? Otherwise, you’ll really have no way out, Marilyn. You need me!”
Holly coaxed gently, “Rather than sitting and waiting for death, trust me this once…”
