59. Feel & Angry

This is fun. I have to keep smiling at someone I really can’t stand. All this time, Ethan Randall’s just sitting there, sipping champagne that I painstakingly ordered. There’s a feast in front of him, and he’s treating it like it’s invisible.
“Our deal was clear, wasn’t it, Alpha Ethan?”
“There’s no reason to change it.”
Arrogant. Conceited. Pompous. Look at him, talking without even saying my name. Cold-hearted. Even though I have always been kind to him by not making him do dangerous things, I even gave him more markets. Gosh, look at him now, he’s really pissing me off.
“What if I upped the stakes?”
“Wasn’t I clear, Alpha Christopher? I’m not handing over My Luna just like that, and you can’t make me repeat myself.” He put his empty glass on the table.
Look at him. he chuckled, laughing at me that he thinks I’m the loser here. Yeah, maybe he’s right. I am the loser here because I keep giving in to an asshole like him.
Should I kill him? No, it wouldn’t sound good if that little girl knew that I killed her mate.
“Our conversation’s going nowhere, Alpha Christopher. So, let me say this one more time before I leave. I won’t give up my Luna even if she’s the last descendant of the late Alpha Jacob Wensiker. And if you stay around her, I won’t hesitate to do something to you and your people.”
A threat? Interesting. I thought after acquiring his company, he’d be on his knees, begging for mercy. But instead of pleading for his future and his Pack, is Ethan Randall threatening me?
“Huh, this is surprising,” I muttered.
“Yeah, it is, and I hope there are no more misunderstandings.” He knocked on the table three times and walked away.
I could only smile at Ethan Randall’s foolishness. Hearing me chuckle, Ethan stopped, turned around, and glanced at me, still laughing, something fresh in my mind.
“What’s so funny, Alpha Christopher?” he asked, clearly pissed.
“Weren’t you the one who offered to do this job? Why are you acting like a hero for her?”
“Is this a threat after I did the same to you?”
“Not what I expected, but will you handle her reaction when she finds out the truth?”
Let’s see again how much he will dodge and say something useless.
“No matter what you say, Alpha Christopher. I’ll stick to my guns. She’s my Luna, the only one who can stand by my side. Not anyone else.”
No one, he said? What about Lucy Torrance, who’s spent so much time on the Luna throne only to be pushed aside by some unknown woman?
No. Not unknown. She’s nobody. Even if someone thinks she’s Ethan Randall’s Luna, The Alpha of The Silver Fire Pack, they’d never guess she’s the last descendant of my cousin, Jacob Wensiker. My last hunt.
“Alpha, are we just gonna let him go? This is our chance to strike when he’s alone without guards?” Chris asked about the opportunity.
Ethan Randall came here alone, with incredible confidence that no one would attack him. But why should I attack someone so weak and unprotected?
“No. Do nothing, I’m too tired for this. Let’s see how the Torrance family handles this mess.”
“You contacted them, Alpha?”
“To explain why that bastard hasn’t married their youngest daughter? Of course.”
“So, are we heading back to the packhouse now?”
“Yes, there are still things to handle.” I replied, drinking the last glass before standing up. “Get the plane ready, I’m sick of this place.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
But before leaving, I glanced at the food on the table. The food all looked delicious, probably made with premium ingredients that allowed one to enjoy it more. However, that bastard left such expensive food alone without even touching it. I grabbed a steamed bun and took a bite. It tasted pretty good, filled with meat.
“Chris,” I called.
“Yes, Alpha?”
“Bring me more of these steamed buns, I like how they make them. And tell them to add more chili, it’ll taste even better.” I said. And yeah, that’s a compliment.
Before heading to the airport to return to the packhouse, I decided to check out my last prey. The car drove to a square.
“Stop here,” I commanded.
There, at a small cafe by the square, I saw her. She is sitting, eating snacks bought by some wolf warriors around her. That brat, Alpha. He did what he was supposed to do, made his Luna so precious that he put so many people in one place, and then came to my place without any escort. Should I call this recklessness or protection?
I must admit that Ethan Randall really is a responsible man.
“Is she pregnant?” I asked Chris.
“I’m not sure, Alpha.”
“Why does she look better than before? Her appetite’s bigger, and Ethan Randall’s always around her?”
“Maybe it’s because of you, that’s why he’s always around Claire Halle.”
I glared at Chris, disagreeing with his remark. Who’s Claire Halle? Her real name is Alicia Wensiker, a troublemaker, and she needs to be eliminated if I want to keep my position.”
“You’ll do it soon, Alpha.”
“Really? Then let’s make our final move to get what we want.”
“I’ll do it, Alpha. Because Lady Alicia is part of our Pack, and we shouldn’t leave her outside too long.”
Too long? What could not last too long after using all my resources to get what I wanted, only to be put in a bad spot by my biggest enemy.
Before Ethan knew that girl was his fated mate, the bastard was eager to get what he wanted, lured by my offer.
But now, he’s like a sheep tied to a rope, unable to break free even for a second. His obsession has shifted from power to wanting more power.
“Is that woman still in the tower?” I asked Chris, remembering I had one last card to play.
“Of course, Alpha, she’s just praying all the time, doing nothing else.” he replied.
“Ah, isn’t that what a devout sister should do?” I mused, admiring her in the long, silent night at the tower.
