Two months later.
Mary Davies
We were done with the final exams, graduation came next and everyone found their way to college.
It wasn’t hard for me to cope with a pregnancy bump, I was literally showing now. I was six months pregnant already, never imagined I will be able to pull through this far. I will be due in three months time and Edward already promised he will be there with me before then. And I hope he fulfills his promise, even though I know it won’t be possible for him to leave college, his studies to come over to be with me.
Few months ago a seventeen year old pregnant girl stepped into college unashamedly, despite the glares and intense eye stare of people. They all made it seem like that was the first they were all seeing a pregnant girl. It wasn’t a big deal for me, because they all finally got accustomed to it.
Being a pregnant freshman in college was hard enough for me because I could hardly make friends, seems like my baby bump was scaring them away. But do I care, simply no. Alphonso is supposed to resume this week and I’ve been anticipating his coming for a few days now. At least, seeing a familiar face in here will do me some good.
I rubbed my belly as I tried my best to ignore the lady chewing gum behind me. I should be focusing on what the professor was saying, but my mind was far away. What I was currently thinking about was labor pains and how painful it was going to be. I have been watching birth videos and it was really scaring the shit out of me. When I told Edward about it during yesterday’s face time, he made me promise him to stop watching those videos. But the deed has been done, because those videos were already glued to my memories. Sweat covered my face as I imagined myself pushing out.
Here in Bentmont’s most prestige college, they call it university in here. Students had the choice to stay in campuses, but Edward got me a house close to the school because according to him living with an unknown, strange roommate isn’t good for the baby. All Edward cares about was making me comfortable and fine, I had a car and a driver, a personal doctor and a temporary nanny maid that is meant to take care of me and also the baby when he or she comes.
Edward’s Father, like he told me was one of the top richest man in the country which only means he is the heir of all his father’s properties and wealth. Immediately after college he is going to take over his father’s businesses worldwide and that scares me a lot, because I feel he won’t be able to have time for me with all that responsibilities on his shoulder. He already promised to put me in charge of the Furniture company his grandmother handed over to him before she died. He has been managing that company with the help of his father right from high school till now, so he needs someone trustworthy to take over while he takes over his father’s businesses.
A loud noise interrupted the professor, whoever is coming to class this late is obviously going to receive a stern warning from Mr Derek. The professors in college do not really care if you come late to class or don’t show up at all. But Mr Derek alone makes it his responsibilities to make a show for late coming. I know he is about to start his usual pep talk for laziness. I tried my best not to yawn loudly, cause this pep talk was always like a rehearsed speech and it bores me, not only me. Everyone.
A huge smile illuminated my face when I saw who was entering the class. Familiar green gemstone eyes that remind me of emerald gem which contrasted perfectly with his black hair.
Alphonso.
Our gaze meant and he winked. I giggled, finally Alphonso was here, took him a lot of time to process his admission.
Mr Derek was about to start his usual pep talks, when Alphonso interrupted him.
“I’m so sorry, I found a hard time locating this lecture room.” Alphonso said, that stopped Mr Derek from saying anything. Right now Alphonso was looking calm and innocent. He was only pretending and I knew it.
“Please excuse me,” He said politely as he walked towards me. He spotted an empty seat in the front roll and he sat on it, Mr Lucas already resumed his lectures and everyone in class seems to be focused on what he was teaching.
I scoffed loudly, who would ever think Alphonso would decide to major in English language and literature like me. I changed my mind at the last moment and decided against Law.

I saw Alphonso immediately I stepped out of the class. My eyes connect with his, and a smile pulls at his lips. Making me realize, he has been waiting for me.
“Finally,” I said out loud, not minding the fact that I was drawing attention to us. My eyes roamed over his body, I raised an eyebrow up as he began to move towards me, my legs also began to move on their own accord. He holds his head high as confidence oozed out of him. The wide smile on his face made it obvious he was happy to see me.
“I came all the way here to take care of you.” He teased, taking a few steps as he wrapped his arms around me.
“Alphonso,” I said giggling. “Edward Jones is doing that already.” I added.
“Where is he?” Alphonso asked, looking around mockingly.
“Or is he invincible? You need to realize the fact that he’s not here, but I am here right now.” He added, snapping his fingers.
“Wake up! Is he trying to buy you with money?”
“Stop, I thought we have talked about this already Alphonso. Edward Jones is my boyfriend, he is taking the responsibility of fathering my unborn child.” I replied.
Edward Jones might not be here, but he is doing his best for the baby and I. We have a well-designed nursery already, made preparations for both genders since we don’t know the baby’s gender yet. I want to find out the baby’s gender on the day I push it out of me, that was one of the things making me anticipate the birth of my child. We have picked both male and female names just in case.
“Oh, I hope you won’t end up being heart broken though, haven’t you thought of the reason why he sent you far away from him. Anyway I am here for you, at least I can get a spot in being a godfather.”
