Guilt! That was the only thing I felt as my mum kept knocking. I felt really bad that I really wanted to end everything. I wanted to scream and call out for help. But Hawk had his hands over my mouth, stifling up the screams. Warm splashy tears rolled down my cheeks. I didn’t want this. This was an abuse and I knew I had to tell someone. But who would I tell. Who would even believe me. I heard my mum’s footsteps, she left already.
I turned to Hawk.
“I am tired, I don’t want to do this with you anymore. Please leave me alone.” I whisper yelled.
“Are you seriously talking to me like that?” He asked, anger written all over his face.
“You are going to regret this Mary. I am going to make you pay for talking back to me. You started this and you better be prepared to face the consequences.”
“And yes, we are ending this. But I won’t stop tormenting you. This is just the beginning.” He added.
I don’t know if I should feel relieved this was over or I should be scared of his threats. But anyway I’m glad he was going to end this.

“Mum, I’m sorry. I was asleep. I didn’t hear you call out to me.” I lied to my mum.
I hate lying to my mum, seeing the way she cares about me makes me want to open up to her. But I was damn scared of her reaction.
“You must have been really tired.” My mum said, palming my cheeks.
“We will be having a mother and daughter’s day out today. I’m sure there are some things we need to talk about.” She added. I nodded my head in response.
The Andrews just finished eating breakfast and my mum and I were washing the dishes.
“Mum, I’m sure she stole it. Why don’t you believe me mum. We need to search her room.” I heard Jessica yell. I and my mum both looked at each other. Jessica, Hawks sister was probably throwing tantrums again.
Just then, Mrs Andrews walked in with her daughters following behind. Little Olivia looked kind of angry.
“Momma, Jessica is probably lying. She is just an attention seeker.” Olivia said, shrugging her shoulders.
“That is okay Liv, let’s try to satisfy her today. The next time she does something like this and it ends up to be a lie, she is going to be punished.” Mrs Andrews said to her daughter.
I didn’t know what they were talking about, but the glares and cold shoulders Jessica was giving me could not be ignored. It seems like my mum noticed this too. She wiped off her hands in a hurry before stepping forward.
“Is there a problem ma’am?” My mum asked.
“Yes, there is. Your so-called daughter stole my new pair of earrings and necklace. What a petty thief. A pilferer! Who knows what else you have stolen. Poor rats.” Jessica shouted, she was looking at my mum like we were full of shits.
“That is enough Jessica!” Mrs Andrews cautioned her daughter.
“I am so sorry about this, but we need to search Mary’s room right now to be sure this is a false accusation.” Mrs Andrew said to my mum.
“I know my daughter quiet well. She has never stolen before. Mrs Andrews, Mary is a good child.” My mum replied, she was obviously trying to defend me. I didn’t steal anything from Jessica, I have avoided her well enough. I don’t even get so close to anyone of them.
“We will know if she doesn’t steal like you said.” Jessica said, folding her arms around her chest. She seems to sure I was the one who stole her jewelries.
“Let’s go,” I said leading the way. I didn’t steal the jewelries. I just wanted to get this all done, after all they won’t find anything.
Everyone followed behind to my room, I could tell my mum was scared, but I wasn’t. Only a thief would feel nervous in this situation.
Jessica stormed into my room and began to ransack everywhere. I didn’t own many things in the room. I was unbothered when she poured out the little stuffs I owned from my suitcase, she checked through everything but still didn’t find her jewelries. I rolled my eyes at the look of disappointment on her face.
Suddenly she began to walk towards my backpack in a stalking manner, there was literally nothing inside that backpack apart from my diary, my essay notes and my glitter pens. She opened the bag and poured out everything in it. Then a shinning object fell from it. She picked it up and began to scream.
“I told you mummy.”
“I told you she was a thief.” She yelled.
I was stupefied, I was literally shocked. I couldn’t say anything. I turned to look at my mum and I saw that strange look, that look of disappointment. I felt embarrassed, I didn’t steal that necklace and earrings but it was found in my backpack which just confirmed I was a thief.
“No, I didn’t steal that.” I said, but who was going to believe me.
“Then how did it get in there? It flew inside?” Jessica teased.
“Jessica outside now!” Mrs Andrews said with her voice raised.
“What! Mum! Are you going to let this thief keep staying in our house?” Jessica asked her mum.
“I won’t repeat myself.” Mrs Andrews said.
Jessica left immediately, leaving my mum, I, Olivia and Mrs Andrews in my room.
“Olivia out.” Mrs Andrews commanded with an hard voice, I shivered slightly.
I felt really embarrassed.
“I am sure you know what to do, you are her mother and of course we all make mistakes when we train our children. Not all mother’s train their children well, some can be greedy enough to steal what does not belong to them.” Mrs Andrews said, pausing to look at me. I kept staring at my feet as she kept talking to my mum.
“I trust you to look for a way to discipline your daughter.” She added, turning around to take her leave. She paused at the door.
“Prepare lunch early, my son’s betrothed and her parents will be visiting this afternoon. Make sure you clean everywhere till it is sparkling clean. I want to leave an impression on my in laws.” She said before exiting the room.
Hawk has a betrothed. That news came as a shock to me.
“Hand over your phone to me.” My mum’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
I immediately handed her the phone.
“Today’s outing has been cancelled, pack your things back into my room.” She added.
“I am really disappointed in you.”
