Kevin’s POV
Walking out with a hiss and without another word to Elizabeth, I made my way past her door knowing Liam was hot on my heels. I didn’t have to turn around to check that out.
I heard Elizabeth murmuring something about rude couples and them leaving without saying goodbye but I didn’t care. If she was referring to me and Ella leaving her without saying goodbye to us after what she had done which she thought she had done as a favour to us, then she deserved it. She more than deserved it.
I felt proud of Ella but at the same time I was worried about her. I hoped she hadn’t gone too far for me to catch up to her. I hoped she was safe with the kids. I hoped she wasn’t tired and deciding to rest at a place not safe for them. I had a map in my study detailing how to go to the human world from our lands and that which led there from the south is the most dangerous path and farther.
The closest path is that from the Utopia town and that was why they had a mixture of humans, the ones they had kidnapped and the ones who had wandered aimlessly or intentionally into their lands, and a number of strange creatures in their land. It was also easy for them to get the technology that was possible in the human world because of the presence of the human there and the proximity to the human land. They could go into the human world as they wished to spy on what was happening there so they could replicate it in their world.
I snapped myself from thinking of the utopia town and its human and strange inhabitants. I had a lot of worries already on my mind without adding the unnecessary thoughts about the utopia town to it. I didn’t have a good time at the town so I didn’t feel inclined to let my thoughts stray there. I still felt anger anytime I her to remember the human count and what my girl had suffered in his hands and almost suffered.
Thinking of my girl, I wondered where she was at the moment and picked my pace as I imagined her fighting off a battle alone to protect herself and the kids while they shivered in fright. That wasn’t going to happen while I was close by.
“Where do you think the Luna would be at this time?” Liam asked me as if he could read my mind.
Sometimes I felt like he could and that was why I felt comfortable with him and wouldn’t think of having anyone else as my second in command.
“I hope she hasn’t gone too far.” I replied.
Liam nodded like he understood what else I couldn’t say at that time. I could only hope that she hadn’t gone too far as I knew how determined Ella could be when she had a mission before her.
I studied the map Eliza had thrown at me, as I had been moving out of her house. It was the same map she had given Ella and I found myself wishing that she had doused the map she gave me with some sort of location spell so I could tell where Ella was through my map. I knew I was only kidding myself though. Elizabeth wouldn’t have done that and even if she could, she wouldn’t have cared enough about me to do that for me.
If I knew her well, I knew she would want me to suffer for some time before finding my mate to avenge what had happened to her. I wouldn’t put it past her if she blamed me for Ella finding out that she took ten years of my life in a deal and confronting her about it. It was what she could do and I didn’t want to overlook but that she might have been hurt that she was given trouble for what was a mutual deal and wasn’t entirely her fault.
I wasn’t concerned about her feelings though. I was more concerned about where my mate was and how far she was to getting close to where she needed to be. I was mad with worry as I wondered if she was in danger and how dangerous the situation was for her.
“Oh! I think I see her.” Liam gasped, breaking into my reverie with his excited murmurs.
I looked up, my head snapping up with immediate speed as I looked forward. Liam wasn’t pointing in any direction but he didn’t need to as there was no path where we were asides in the forward lane. There were only bushes by the sides of us and the only clear road was forward. We had walked into the narrow path some moments ago and that was why I was more worried about where Ella was. The path kept seeming dangerous as it got narrower.
I nodded, glancing at Liam by the side. It seemed like he was right. I could see a female figure walking forward in the distance and I knew that it was her. No one else could be traveling this road at this time. It wasn’t like someone could suddenly decide that they want to go on a vacation and the only place that they could think of was here.
I didn’t see the silhouette of the triplets with her and my heart skipped many beats as I wondered where they were or if something had happened to them that made them not be with her.
She took a bend and I could see the kids before her. I inhaled and exhaled many times in relief. She had had the kids before her to protect them and that was why I couldn’t see them earlier.
I felt a warm gush of relief spreading across my heart as I confirmed to myself that my wife and the kids were safe.
“Let’s go.” I said to Liam and we started running after them.
